c g d g d d tuning

Is anyone familiar with this tuning?

my question is, with the 'c', is it tuned up from e, or down? when i tune it down, it doesn't sound right and it's too bass-y. when i try tuning it up it feels like i'm about to snap the string. any advice?

I'm not familiar with the tuning, but I would say you definitely don't want to tune your E up to a C. That is WAY to high to tune it up.

If it sounds to bassy, maybe you need different strings, like dave uses for his raised B tuning. He uses (I think) an A-string in the place of the E-string and tunes it up to a B.
