Hi there,

I recorded the 1st verse of rapunzel and satellite till the 'rest high above the clouds' part. Let me know what you think of it. Also on the site is a little song that I wrote and recorded a year ago, just for fun.

I think the volume is kind of low.

You got a good voice dude. I really like Get Out, but I think you should make it a few minutes longer. Satellite and Rapunzel were good, esp. the riff. I think you sound nervous at a few parts in both of those, so try to loosen up if you can. Other than that, great job. :thumbsup

It does sound good, your vibratto isn't bad...however, on the higher notes during the riff of Rapunzel, your voice goes a tad out of tune, I think. Just regulate your air control, and you should be fine =D

First off, thanks for both of you for listening! I've gotten some good responses from that song. I've played it live and done some harmonica work, but I haven't tried to write any more lyrics. I feel like its easy to stretch songs to the point where you they are not as good as they were when they were smaller. But maybe I will try to work on it more, if it seems that it has good potential to be longer/better. I didn't feel very nervous at all, but my voice tends to get shaky for whatever reason.

Yea I was noticing that with the higher notes. Do you mean just the fallsetto or both falsetto and higher parts? Any advice for better regulating air control??

First off, I'll say I've only been trained in classical Saxophone: any tips you get from me comes from a year of shower singing and humming in the hallways on the way to classes :D

In any case, Satellite was good, and the higher notes sounded good. With the falsetto in Rapunzel, however, it does seem to shake and get out of tune. In my case, I find when my voice shakes without me wanting it to, I think it's because I'm singing wrong, i. e. singing from the throat as opposed to your diaphram. Personally, I don't know how to sing from the diaphram; when I do it, it's very random, and you'd probably have to ask a trained vocalist how to do it. Also, your voice seems to taper off at parts, and shake, which can be attributed to lack of breath control. It's not too difficult; getting into the habit of taking a breath the beat before you start singing is a must, and when you do this, you should be able to feel cold air on the back of your throat. Otherwise, breath when it's opportune in a song; if there is nowhere to do so, stagger breath, taking tiny breaths when it's less noticeable; or, cut out a beat of a verse to breathe, it's not uncommon-Dave's scat singing at the end of DDTW at Fullmont Park, for example. Hope it helps, although you might be better off asking someone who was actually trained in the art =P

Yea, I can definitely tell where I need the work now. It is really helpful to be able to hear myself and train myself to hear what everyone else is hearing. I'll probably work on re-recording some stuff this weekend. I'll record closer to get better sound too.

Get Out was my favorite on your page. The covers were okay, but I'd focus on the original stuff because Get Out sounds great.

Your voice could use a little polishing, but that will come with practice. And listening/critiquing yourself is a great idea. You're definitely off to a good start!

Wow, thanks. I didn't expect this many good responses from that song. Especially from fellow musicians. Your stuff sounds really good. How is your writing going?? (I am mainly trying to focus on covers now so I can get my voice and guitar better.)
