How would you guys feel about Break Free making the new album? Now I know Dave plays an Electric on the song and to some of you people that means its automatically bad, but honestly the West Palm beach show that was on AOL 2 years ago had a great performance of Break Free, and personally when I saw DMB at Hershey (6/23/06) I enjoyed Break Free a whole lot more than Shotgun.

The lyrics need complete reconstructive surgery. The main guitar riff is nice though, and Rashawn is great at the end.

Yea your right, for the most part the lyrics need some reworking, (I think the chorus is awesome how it is though) and I could see Dave scrapping this song all of last year, to just work with it and fix the lyrics, and I wouldnt be surprised to have a completely revamped version this year.

I think the lyrics could use a very very minor tweak. I really enjoy this song.

I think it would do well on the album. Its probably not going to happen though.

The song needs a complete reworking. Like, so it's a new song.

I'm glad they realized this song was a "fun for a few times" tune. Nothing more. It's really no different than Louisiana Bayou. Simple music, shitty lyrics, kind of cool the first couple times but quickly gets annoying.

I'll allow it if it means Sugarwill, Crazy Easy, Loving Wings and Shotgun will be on the new album.

I love love love the chorus of this song. I know it's got basically no shot of making the album, but I would 100% prefer it over the mediocrity that is IOU. I think if they reworked the verses it could be really great, but definitely not holding out hope for it to make it.

I love it. I hope it makes the cd and returns in '08. There I said it.

I enjoyed it when I heard it in 06.. don't really listen to it anymore, kinda meh about it. The trumpet solo at the end was awesome though

I like this song. If it was the worst song on the album, I'd be satisfied. I wonder if it'd be better on an acoustic, maybe even on a 12 string.

I'm sick of hearing about how good Shotgun is. Everyone thinks its gods next gift to music.

IMO, Break Free is a good song, obviously since it hasnt appeared on a studio album yet, its no finished product. Shotgun - I loved the 06 debut version because I heard the potential it held and the Summer Tour 07 Sampler version is amazing, people are making a big deal out of it because we are watching it grow into something good, one of my all time favorite songs.
The bottom line: Break Free should appear on the 2008 album.

Musically, I like this song, and wouldn't mind it on the album if the lyrics got a re-write.

That is by no means degrading Break Free (I still believe the debut was one of the highlights of the 06' tour), but I really think KTK can turn into something special...if it's done right.

Love the chorus, not so thrilled about the verse though.

Yes, very reminiscent of Help Myself, DIDO, and the Stone.

wow in '06 i never really was a fan of KTK, but I just went to youtube and checked it out again (to be honest i forgot what it sounded like but remembered it was my least favorite of the debut songs with the exception of shotgun) but KTK sounds pretty damn good to me now. (as does shotgun so I guess im just in a good mood waiting for ticket sales in about 10 minutes, and the new album)

I love the outro. It kinda reminds me of the tune SNL plays at the end of the show. A good drinking song.

:thumbsup This pretty much sums up my feelings.
Isn't the mandolin the reason this song disappeared?

Was the version on Live Trax 6 the most up to date version of 'Break Free'?

i liked it...OK, but not tremendously or anything. I thought the best part was the chorus and the end jam. If the verses were cleaned up a little and reworked, I might be open to it being on the album, but that'd be the only way. If it stays the same as the last time it was played, then no, I don't want it.

I love this song, and it is the number one song that i want to make the album. i too enjoy it more than Shotgun.
and the majority of people on Ants agree that Break Free should return:

It gets kinda boring after a while, but I do enjoy the chorus and I'd like to see it come back to evolve more.
