View Full Version : New, Rather Bold Rumor
MDrums54

I found this on nancies.org and have copied the post.
Take it as you will:
------------------------------------------------------------
Passing along rumors labeled as coming from "trustworthy source" leak.
Sounds like band is going to have close to a finished product by the time they open the tour. Danny Barnes and Tim "confirmed" to be on tracks:
7 new songs
As far as the new songs, Dave uses the baritone electric on a couple, the mini-guitar on a couple, at least one is "mellow", and Tim's on at least one.
5 road tested:
Cornbread*+
Idea of You
#27*
Dream So Real
Shotgun
Some other old songs reportedly slated for B-side or Bonus tracks: Full Band Eh Hee, Loving Wings, SUAD
*including Tim
+including Barnes
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I believe this only because it seems so obvious. Cornbread was played basically every single night, Idea of You and Shotgun are the only songs from the 2006 sessions that are still in (some-what constant)rotation, the band apparently loves ADSR, and #27 is a very good song, and Dave knows it.
Moreover, members of the band have been quoted discussing SUAD's return in the studio. Loving Wings would be a nice treat, and hopefully the rest of the band put their own influences on Eh Hee, rather than the full Dave version.
And as for the seven new songs, I am very pleased. I'd rather have more brand new material than a bunch of already played songs. The "B-Side," however, is a very nice treat.
Discuss.

That sounds amazing if it's true. Glad to hear the old favorites are being put on the B-Sides so we get a full album full of new stuff. Of course, if it's true. I really find it hard to believe anything after all that TheseDaysContinue.org crap.

Everything is what I expected really other than the Danny Barnes. That would awesome if he was really on Cornbread. He pwned it in the summer.

seems almost too obvious to believe.
I think the general rule of pre-album rumors is: always be skeptical.
some of that is accurate, some of it is way off.

i remember when nancies was somewhat respectable. im glad i came over here when i did though....
anyway you can dipict alittle as to what is true, and what isn't jake? i mean, if i were a betting man, id say the suad/loving wings info is false, as well as danny barnes being on the album.
DMBZeppelin

some of that is accurate, some of it is way off.
My guess is #27, Shotgun, and Cornbread are accurate. Tim and Barnes being in studio is accuarte. Probably a ADSR as well, but that he doesn't play any song on the baritone. Songs like Eh Hee, Loving Wings, and SUAD will be left off for new songs.

Completely made up I bet. Someone trying to give themselves an e-boner. Really? The 5 songs they played non-stop last summer are going to be on the album? No shit! I bet you had to call up your top connections for that one.
Steve Lillywhite isn't producing the new album. I got it from one of my sources.

I'm not even 'in the know' but I'm telling you right now, based on what we've heard and how long it takes to get albums out there (unless you're the Raconteurs) with final touches, mixing, single release, promotion, etc., we won't get this album before the summer tour. I doubt we'll get it until after the summer tour.
Tim's on tour.
The album is 10000000000 miles away from being done.
my personal guess for a release date is October/November 2008, or Jan 2009.

As much as I hate waiting, this is (big picture) fantastic news. Imagine how much the songs are going to evolve over the Summer, especially with Tim around. This frees them up to perfect the songs in studio after the tour if they want. I'm all for them taking as long as they need, if the end result is something comparable with the Lillywhite 4.

They are my favorite band. I was just asking the question seeing as it has been almost 3 years since the last album was released. Many bands have made two solid albums in that time.
In addition, for what it is worth, a new album doesn't get me that exited. The tour gets me excited. I am more interested in what they create with new and old songs, respectively, live on the road.

my friend keeps insisting that it was announced that Willie Nelson was going to guest on a song on the new album, has anyone else heard this, or is my friend just BSing?

Ya good for Willie for being around so long and what not but you gotta know when to peace. I mean how does anyone in the band or producer with god given music ability listen to the GD cover and say "Hey, that's some good shit! Let's bring em in for some guest vocals on the band's most anticipated album (IMO) and fuck up what could be an amazing album?"
He just wouldn't fit. I hope they understand what a piece of shit they put out in '05 and, judging by the short video, I think they know this needs to be a redemption album. Instead of some other name, be confident in the album and name the damn thing "Redemption". I hate when DMB, hell anyone, doesn't work to their FULL capacity.
Sorry for the rant........in summary Willie on new DMB album=no good lol
kingchrisII

ah sorry for the scare people, my friend is a sped. he JUST heard about the GD cover now, and I guess misunderstood it as Wilie Nelson "worked with Dave Matthews recently" as opposed to just taking his song. So sorry for scaring the people who thought this might be plausible, no ring of truth here.
(I still think it could be interesting on #27 though, Willie could do what Morisette did with DDTW on BTCS and I am thinking we might see it in Louisville)

I like tIOY. I wish they would have stuck to the controversial lyrics and let Carter keep his original licks instead of slowing him down but I do like the song. Catchy and will go good for a radio single now that it can fir on nearly any station due to it being an admiring love song of an older girl. I also agree SUAD would go great with the apparent "feel" to this album. It too would make for a good radio single/hit. Gotta go with SUAD over tIOY though.

I don't want any fucking b-sides or bonus tracks; make the album the way you intend it to be, that way you don't have to include left-overs.
Messes with the flow of an album I think.
Yea I gotta completely disagree with this. The point of releasing extra tracks separate from the album would be to release songs that were good and complete but just didn't fit with the cd. This way people can still hear the songs without the flow of the album being tampered with.

the album will be completed sooner then later...they wouldn't launch a studio website for over 3-4 months

Uuuuuhhh....the ones about an older man lusting after a young girl. The first versions from the early 06' tour.

He means two albums, which would be two discs. Not an album and then b sides.

I REALLY need to know if Tim will be in Columbus. It is a factor in whether I go or not.
I'm going to Comumbus, too and would really like to know if Tim will be there!

Willie Nelson is an awful musician. He only gets credit for being "classic."
I second the motion. He's nothing but an old pothead
