I really like this song. I think if it's reworked and has some help from Tim, it would make for a really good song on the album. What are your thoughts?

I really like the chorus' chord progression and Carter's work on this song. Rework it and see what we've got.

I always thought the song would be perfect as a title song to a Bond movie.
It has that James Bond sound with the horns and the trashy sex chorus, it's perfect. Dave could play the villain in the movie with his raised eyebrow.

Kill the King -- aka "My love for you inspires me to do something vaguely sociopolitical."
The lyrics need a total re-work and the keyboard needs to be scaled back, but otherwise I think the song is a solid foundation. It was very much a work-in-progress the last time it was heard.

Kill the King and Break Free are dead. Kill the King is burried, but who knows if Break Free will ever rear it's ugly head again. But it's common knowledge either won't be on the album. But at least everything going on the album instead will be better in quality. Which wasn't the case with Stand Up over the 04' songs.

1) IDEA OF YOU
2) SHOTGUN
3) SUGAR WILL
4) JTR
5) KILL THE KING
6) EH HEE

I'm telling you guys, if this song got the attention it deserved, it would have the same kick that Hello Again and DIDO haveand. And like both songs, when played with urgency will make the "Come on come on yeah Yeahs" fit in nicely. That's the section of the song where it should be crazy-ass uptempo and every instrument going nuts and by the end of the song will justify Dave's screaming just like it does in Hello Again.
The song just never got to it's uptempo pace it desperately needs, just like DIDO.

i liked it (saw it live 06), but i think it needs to be reworked. The song structure was too basic, IMO...intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, etc and the song itself wasn't eccentric enough. But yeah, do it.

I really loved KTK the first time i heard it, even tho it was a heaps bad quality version...definately would be a good addition to the album, and yeah i think Tim would be good for it. Contrary to what DMB5770 said, I kinda like the keys, dont think they should reduce em...

I've just heard Kill the King on You Tube. It's thanks to threads like these that I'm listening to songs I didn't even though they did. I really like it and if they DMB decided to put it on the new album I would be happy. If they do put it on they will probably tweak little bits. The tune is really addictive.

Yes I would love to see Kill The King on the album but I don't see that happening. It was my favorite song of the 06 songs and thought it had lots of potential. If it doesn't make the album I would like to see it return on tour, which again I doubt since it didn't get much time the second half of the 06 tour.

Good verse.
Very good chorus.
Drop organ.
Overhaul the lyrics.
It's got potential. I really like the chorus progression. I'd like to see what else they could do with it.
