not only does he add nothing but amazing details to dmb's songs,
but he's another musical genius to bounce ideas off of. i think dave
is extremely inspired by Tim, more so than anyone else in the band.
and with Tim in the studio, dave's creative juices will really get flowing
and hopefully the rest of the band's

what do you all think? am i right?

I think it's common sense to think that, so I guess you're right.

Whenever you put Dave and Tim together in the studio, good things happen. They have given us no reason to believe otherwise.

Also, I believe Tim changes Dave. In some amazing, positive way ~ he makes Dave better.

i agree i think dave strives to impress tim, therefore making him more creative..... if tim was in the studio i dont think " i dig a hole all the way to china, unless of course you are there" would have ever made its way onto a piece of paper or out of daves mouth!

I hope so. The big three albums and tLWS all had Tim and Lillywhite, and they were all great. Some Devil didnt have Lillywhite, but DID have Tim and it was great. So hopefully Tim has a lot to do with it and can make this album good.

All of this is proof that Tim's presence with Dave results in greatness!

I actually believe that Tim IS the Dave Matthews Band. Its actually his talent that is channeled through the five "members" of the band. Evidence is pretty clear on this (UTD, Crash, BTCS). Without him, they are just five ordinary guys with no idea of how to use their equipment....:p

Without Tim, DMB are like those basket players in Space Jam!:D

not much room for debate on this one. Tim + DMB = better results than DMB - Tim

Some crazy people disagree. But not me.

Tim has always sounded like he belongs in the band.

exactly. i'm not sure he make dave better because we all know what dave is capable of and that's some pretty amazing shit. but tim helps that side of dave come out, i think

Tim has always sounded like he belongs in the band.I agree, the only time he ever sounded slightly out of place was with some of his solos on the 98 tour. I didn't mind them personally, I love Tim, but I can see people saying he sounded a bit out of place. But the color and layers he adds to the first three studio records fits right in, and is an integral part to their studio sound.

Because Tim's style is more rock and jam that Batson's style and he is about details, which are SO important to this band.

I am a huge tim fan, especially when hes with the band. i really do think he has made a big difference in some of the music we have gotten from them over the years......but i have to say i thought there would be more change from cornbread. im not trying to be a downer, but with tim in the studio there really wasnt that much change from the song, so now im not sure how some of hte other songs we know will change. i still have optimism, and i did enjoy the cornbread from last night, so we shall see.

Sure about that? I hear electric guitar. Obviously not that deep in, since the tracks were just being worked on, but I swear I hear him on some songs.

I'm pretty sure Dave was playing the electric you hear. If I remember correctly it was just the 5 of them in the studio during that time. If I'm wrong then somebody feel free to jump in and politely tell me so.

Some things to consider:

1. They were in "pre-production" for over a year.
2. Albums do not take that long to record--if they've got the material down, and we know they've got a large cache to draw upon--then it can go very quickly.
3. Albums SHOULD NOT take a year to record. That usually means they're over-thinking the songs, recording SUAD 125 times, etc. If it's going to be a great album, it'll coalesce fairly quickly. I'm saying end of tour at the LATEST, not Christmas.

from my experiences, things that are refered to as 'swiss' are refered to as such because they come from switzerland.

1. year long pre-production could be do to all the other shit they have been doing. i.e. dave in movies etc....
2. albums can and do take that long, especially when band members have lives, families, side projects.... etc, etc...., plus maybe they are doing more writing in the studio then what they have done in the past.
3. refer to number 2

See: BTCS... That's all you really need to look at to see what kind of impact Tim has on the band in studio.

i totally agree, pal. i was just telling berman that a 2009 release is crazy :freak

personally i'd rather they took FIVE friggin years to produce an awesome album, instead of rushing into things and not taking their time. take as long as it needs, i say. screw impatient fans like myself and everyone else on here hehe

it will be worth the wait

honestly, I hope they don't release the cd until 09 because that means they aren't rushing anything. I don't think they're anywhere near done with the cd. They're still creating songs and discussing ideas.

As much as I want a new cd soon, I'd much rather have an amazing album

100% Without a doubt, Tim was not on the LWS. Though you could say, while the LWS looked to be amazing, things just fell apart without Tim ;) .

They've been working on this album since pre-summer tour 2006. They aren't going to rush it, and who's to say 2010 wouldn't be better then 2009? We have no idea how far a long it is, but if it comes out in 2008. I don't think it will benefit from coming out later. I think the band will know when this thing is done whether it's 08 or 09.

It'll be done when it's done. There's no way to say it'll be better cuz it takes longer. It's all about what they put out. We just gotta wait and see
