I think we should write machead.

Bam! I said it.

Fine, let's do it.

I tried it a while ago, but I got a little too *high* and got nothing accomplished :bounce

Do we have any ideas as to what songs specifically Machead was split up into? I would bet that Last Stop Outro was in there. Seems really forced in, what with dropping Dave's guitar down half a step to play it. PNP might have been part of Machead (the What Will Become of Me part).

Dave has also said that DDTW was a piece of junk, until one day in the studio something clicked. Perhaps they had the idea to put part of Machead into DDTW? Maybe the outro where it switches to Dmin?

Does anyone have the image with the piece of paper from the studio that says Machead on it?

We are looossaahs haha

haha. sweet. Now there are two of us, so it doubles are chances at doing it. We are going to need all the information that would possibly be going through dave's head while he was writing.

The intro should be in 8/12, verse in 3/4, chorus in 7/8, bridge in 2/8, and outro in 4/4 for 8 measures then switches to 2/4 for 2 measure, then back to 4/4.

Are you guys ready for Sax yet?

Let me know...i have soprano and alto. Although, from what I've heard about Machead, it may require a bari (at least in parts).

I personally think you guys should look long and hard into Captain from LWS when thinking of what Machead should sound like.

ok well we need more info before we start. here is a mini list...

1. Lyrical Themes/Ideas
2. Possible McCartney song influences
3. Possible Radiohead song influences
4. Possible DMB song influences (this is probably the easiest)

after we do that, it shouldn't be tooo hard. lol

I already did that. Dave recorded a cover version a while ago but it didn't make it on the album. Ol' Stevie insisted it was crap. In the end Dave sacked Ol' Stevie for the collective good. Just to let you know...

I always imagined Machead going a little something like

Machead Lyrics
Ding, dong, ding, dong
Ding, dong, ding, dong

That there
That's not me
I go
Where I please
I walk through walls
I float down the Liffey
I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here
I'm not here

The mood is right
The spirits up
Were here tonight
And that's enough
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

The party's on
The feelings here
It's all because
This time of year
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

In a little while
I'll be gone
The moment's already passed
Yeah it's gone
And I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here
I'm not here

Don't cry poor children, sing this song
Ding, dong, ding, dong,
Ding, dong, ding.

The word is out
About the town
So lift your glass
And don't look down
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Strobe lights and blown speakers
Fireworks and hurricanes
I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here
I'm not here

The mood is right
The spirits up
Were here tonight
And that's enough
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Dave was playing Captain/Crazy with Tim before they went into the studio for BTCS, correct? The story of Machead is they came up with it while working on BTCS, but ended up splitting it up and using parts of it in other songs that did end up on the album. So I would think Captain could not be Machead.

the jam on btcs right after ddtw...we take that and jam, and add some more to it and we're set

i think the last stop reprise could be your starting point

Parts of BEF and JTR, my guess is that BEF is a piece of MacHead since BEF is so darn simple. then JTR has parts too, probably more along the lines of the chorus or outro.

this song is probably more acoustic than JTR and more Violin (not plucking) than BEF.

This is a good plan:

2. Possible McCartney song influences - Must be about love and only use 3 chords.
3. Possible Radiohead song influences - must be REALLY boring/depressing.
1. Lyrical Themes/Ideas - Must be about love or something depressing
4. Possible DMB song influences (this is probably the easiest) - Short jams on BTCS could be the way forward

If you put a big eyed fish feel to that other part, it sounds a lot like it. ...

and then go into this. with a measure for each chord. and if you had some falsetto going on, i think it would sound radio head like. but I still am confused on how mac head has paul mccarney in it. are any of dave's songs considered similar to paul? I don't listen to him very much at all

I think it could be something along the lines of Grace and JTR- the lost love and wanting them back. And then BEF's suicidal side, and LS Reprise.

The song could be about a girl Dave loves but hates life and wants to kill herself (BEF influence), or maybe both die together (early shotguns anyone?)

The Last Stop Reprise could fit into that as Dave trying to help/save/comfort this girl he loves- "come in from the cold for a while/everything will be alright love". But the girl does not see Dave as a love, if at all, ala JTR "you slip and fall/i pick you up/and dust you off/you break my heart".

A very somber song about a love he will never have.
