With this new studio album, if you could pick one, which would it be? A bonus DVD with making-of process, or a B-sides CD with 3-4 songs, then live songs?
With the online studio videos, I would prefer a B-sides CD..

The entire session has been filmed in HD, so there will be a DVD. I'd have to imagine that there'd be B-sides, but obviously that decision is made after everything is done.

I'll take the b-sides, i'd rather have additional tunes than watch their work in the studio.

Depending on length, I would probably want the DVD.

B-Sides, even though I don't get why they do B-Sides instead of putting them on the album.

ABSOLUTELY 100 percent prefer b-sides... those dvds end up being more like coasters than of any use (see busted stuff bonus dvd)

joking right?
bsides are left of the album for a reason. the bands goal in the studio is not to just pump oiut as many songs as possible and put as amny as they can onto a cd. songs have to fit with the flow and feel of an album.

It would be interesting to see the DVD of the making of the album, but I would probably only watch that once in a while whereas more music... I will definitely get more use from that. B side tracks would be better I think.

ive always been a fan of DVDs, dont know why.
Obviously, the longer the better for DVDs, but I got more use out of the stand up dvd than the actual disc ;)

i'd love a 'making of' dvd where there's parts of fonz in the background on his laptop shouting out all the rumors we've started while the band laughs :lol
"they think lillywhite's coming back!! :lol"

:lol "guys you have to see the shit they believe!"
if its all shot in HD, i'd love to think a blu-ray session would come out which would be awesome. B-sides looks to be happening from everything said

I would like to see a long 'Making of' DVD. Some inside information how different songs were created. That kind of stuff.
I'm always very interrested in how they work in the studio. (Also with other artists)

It came with Busted Stuff. You didn't get this?
Titled: "Some Other Stuff."

Call me greedy but I don't see it that way...
I think it's baloney that they limit their cd's to a select few number of tracks.. CD's should have at least 15-17 songs on them...
Here are the number of tracks per studio cd thus far...
Remember Two Things: 10 tracks (7 are exclusive to this album)
UTTAD: 12 tracks
Crash: 12 tracks
BTCS: 11 tracks
Everyday: 12 tracks
Busted Stuff: 11 tracks
Stand Up: 14 tracks
That means the total # of songs recorded and officially released from the studio in the past 15 (FIFTEEN) years is...
79 songs! That's it.
That means the band has OFFICIALLY released 5.27 (FIVE point TWO SEVEN) songs per year.
I'd like to see them get that average up to at least 7 per year. (That means by next year they would have to release 33 more songs to bring the total to 112.
I think they can do it! :D (one can dream...right?)

Only 2 songs were actually studio on R2t though. Plus, we got 2 studio songs as b-sides to stand up, and I don't know if you want to count lillywhites.
That actually helps your case, by revealing how little they release from the studio, but...I don't think any cd should be 17 songs. The best cd with that many tunes on it that I can think of is the first disc of the white album, and (I know I may get grilled for this one) I don't think it had any flow. Out of 17, all 17 were terrific/obscure but awesome songs, but there was too much to the whole project.
In my opinion, the ceiling should be 13 tracks, and if they are going to do more than 12, they should at least feel guilty about it.:)

To me, the ideal DMB studio album should be between 10-12 studio tracks w/ an almost 80 minute running time.

I disagree about the "flow". I say screw the flow and give me diversity. Plus, in this day and age, we can make our own flow by creating our own playlists. More importantly, DMB adding more songs to their catalog will actually make it easier to create a setlist with a better flow than ever before.
To me, the ideal DMB studio album should be between 10-12 studio tracks w/ an almost 80 minute running time.
On the other hand, I definitely wouldn't complain about that! :cool :thumbsup
However, my point was, DMB should have more songs in their catalog by now to play at shows. Even if the songs on the album are more compact, the fact that those songs would exist means those songs have a chance of being jammed-out at a show. (Examples, Two Step, #41, LIOG. Short and compact on the album but jammed out at shows. GLORIOUS!)
