If you don't have this album, you're missing out. It's simply gorgeous.

I'll admit I'm biased. My wife and I have done two trips down the length of the Grand Canyon - an 18-day trip in 2003 (http://dvandkq.net/Grand%20Canyon%202003.htm) and a 21-day trip in 2004 (http://dvandkq.net/Grand%20Canyon%202004.htm). Our son was conceived on the 2004 trip and is named after John Wesley Powell. Track #4 is named "John Wesley Powell". So I couldn't be happier about my Grand Canyon and DMB world colliding with the IMAX 3D movie and the DMB soundtrack.

But aside from my biases, the music on the soundtrack is hauntingly beautiful. You'll recognize threads of many old favorites coursing through newly-named songs. You'll notice that some old favorites have been re-worked and given new titles (i.e. "Connecting to Nature" is simply a re-worked "The Space Between"). "Steady As We Go" is given an especially beautiful treatment.

It may be too mellow for some, but this mostly acoustic album is, in my opinion, an unexpectedly amazing creation. No DMB music collection can be considered complete without this collection of songs.

And if you get a chance to see the movie, jump on it. The movie will get your adrenaline pumping and you'll never view the Grand Canyon the same way again. Plus, you get to sing along with the soundtrack :)

I've been wondering if the soundtrack was worth a damn. I may actually get it now. Is the mix on any of the regular DMB songs different? And un-music related. I've always wanted to take a trip down the Grand Canyon. What's a good place to use for booking? Are all places roughly the same price? Or do some people charge a lot more for the same thing?

If any of your happen to go down the grand canyon be on the lookout for a copy of "Everyday" that someones cousin dropped down there... I hear it was the Australian import version...

I do - that's what allowed me to write the review.

We did both of our trips through Grand Canyon Dories, the same outfit that is featured in the movie. In fact, we've traveled with some of the boatmen seen in the movie. I think the people in the theater with us were annoyed because we kept blurting out "There's George!", "There's Duffy!", "There's Regan!" when we saw people we knew on the six-story high screen at our local IMAX theater.

Grand Canyon Dories is a subsidiary of OARS, which to my knowledge is the world-wide leader in expedition-style river trips.

Are you suggesting that someone should cheat the band out of the money they rightfully deserve for creating this album by illegally sharing copyrighted material?

Downloading and sharing shows of a band with a liberal taping/trading policy is one thing. Illegally sharing studio albums is an entirely different matter.
