Do I have a problem?

Ok so i have tried multiple times (with multiple torrent programs) to try and download a torrent. When I try to downlaod, the program always says "connecting..." or something liek that, and there is no progress registered. This lasts for an extended period of time until I get frustrated and shut oof the program. Is this unusual or am I simply impatient?( I am currently using BitZip, after similar results with uTorrent and Vuzureus)

Sorry to reply in this thread...I am in my first three days so I cannot start my own.

I downloaded a show, and my status says seeding. However, I am not uploading at all. Are peers taking from better connections, or am I doing something wrong?
