Sad to say only one or two of those songs will probably be on the next album, total speculation... As long as Shotgun makes it I'll be cool.

First - what the hell is wrong with people who in 2008 still think Granny is going to show up on an album...

AND

Second... dude we have had a thread on album predictions for four months now, so post accordingly

Yeah, what the hell is this? Granny? Monkey Man? Crazy-Easy? There are two songs--IOY and Cornbread--that have a real shot. Everything else, Shotgun included, is wishful thinking at this point.

There should be a test you have to take before posting threads.

obviously a joke, sorry about the post...was just pointing out all the great songs over the last couple years that haven't made albums...

I've never been much of a, "granny will make an album," supporter, Granny would be ruined in the studio as it is purely a live song...(See Joyride)

During the 2004 tour crazy easy and sugarwill were rockin and I would have loved to see them make the cut for stand up. I've listened to dave since 97' BUT am fairly new to ants...again sorry about the post was just try to stir up conversation about past and current live releases that haven't been taken to the studio.

P.S. A test to post on ants? Bring it!

...that even have a SHOT at being on the album. They could very easily all be scrapped. Dave said it himself --- there are some songs they're playing now that will never be on an album.

granted i'm the one who started this post...but its interesting to note that dmb played sugarwill 50x crazy easy 43x and joyride 54x in 2004, stand up was released before the 2005 tour with none of those songs. The only song the band played in 2004 that landed on the album was hello again. This gives us no certainty in any one song, especially cornbread and #27. We could see a 2005 where none of daves 2008 stuff gets released and the 2009 tour is flodded with new stuff. We'll see...

k. so some of the items you put on there like cornbread, #27, IOY, and (not mentioned) eh hee will prolly make it to the album. It will for sure sound way different with out butch. Any other of the live released songs from the past 2 years will prolly be tested. Most of the songs for this album will prolly be new ones that they write this summer

edit: #27, Shotgun, IOY at least will be "B-sides" if they don't make the cut-- good luck with the rest

What the hell is wrong with people. Look don't you think if all these songs were going to be on a new cd,or even 70-80% of them we would have seen a new cd by now or very soon. (IMO) were not going to see a new cd till the end of the year at best .We saw how many new songs in 04 ?.. and only 1 made it on the new cd in 05 .People need to just enjoy the new songs they herd last year and be lucky to hear them again this year when they go to the shows and then sit back and wait for a new cd and hope they hear some great new songs that they can't wait to hear live in 09.

Wrong Shotgun has a great chance, dont believe me, find my posts in other album threads in DMBc, itll give you all you need to know about the album. If you really think they are going to scrap a song like Shotgun you shouldn't be posting in here.

Oh crap I dont remember, it would have been a while back. But basically it was confirmed that Shotgun and IOY were basically locks for the upcoming new album and that all the other songs were up in the air, and since both of those songs made a return last year, and one is back so far this year, it just helps to confirm that.

dmb5570
06-14-2008, 03:46 PM
I dont think a song being played this year means its going to make the album, it could actually mean the opposite. a song we hear this tour could be one for the live setting, not the album(as dave said), who knows at this point. seems like the album could go a million directions at this point

well, like ive said many times before, just becuase its been recorded in teh studio, doesnt mean its going to make the album. there have been a ton of songs recorded, they just never put them onto an album because it wasnt what they wanted. there has been a lot recorded for this new album, so you will all just have to wait and see which ones they pick to make the cut. believe me, this is gonna be a great album.

Nothing was ever "basically confirmed" to be on the album. Nothing. Do I think Shotgun has a chance? Well, yeah. But it certainly not a lock, especially since it hasn't been played since late 2007. Everything from the band indicates that the new album will be exactly that--new.

Last year was last year. The information this year is that the album will consist of all new songs. And besides, there was no confirmation in regards to any song being on the album, not this year, not last year, not the year before. The only infor came from a fake interview with Cavallo.

cornbread definately. but those other two covers will never be on a studio album. look for them on a livetrax from this summer if you like them that much. or dl a torrent of one of this year's shows. but cover songs on the new studio album is not going to happen.

what i think is that DMB should not do covers on a studio album. dave's not Neil Diamond, he can (or used to be able to) write his own songs.
