Will try to post a full review later, but just some things that stick out to me.
- MUSICALLY, that was one of the best DMB concerts I've been to. Most definitely one of the highest energy concerts I've been to by the DMB. I kept waiting for some piece of shit like Sister, something on Dave's piano, Stolen Away, or something to ruin it, but it was just fantastic. I know I've been down on this tour, but they are just playing their asses off, and it was the TIM and Jeff Coffin show tonight.
- Jeff Coffin is FUCKING amazing, and when they let him take a solo I was like GODDAMN he needs to be a member of DMB. He plays circles around Leroi, it's like night and day listening to these songs with him and then the last time I heard them with Leroi.
- As high energy as it was, you could tell Dave's mind was elsewhere(can you blame him?). He talked a lot to the crowd, but he didn't really dance a lot and the times he did it seemed forced. It didn't affect the quality of the show, he just wasn't "Dave" tonight. And he admitted it was "damn hard to be up here right now, but thank yall for being here"
- Musically, and I'm sure people will have a heartattack on this, I did not miss Roi at all. I missed Leroi the PERSON being on stage, but musically, this is Coffin's first full gig with them and he tore shit apart. The guy is a sax god. I know Leroi can never be replaced, but really I absolutely loved everything Jeff did tonight.
- The covers were fantastic and were my favorite part of the show. Luckilly they played my 3 faves tonight and they sounded awesome. Money was my #1 until Sledgehammer debuted, but all 3 were terrific. Love Bitch, it's underrated.
- THANK YOU JESUS THEY DIDN'T PLAY BAYOU. Here's how bad it's getting with Bayou, in my eyes. When they started SMTS, even though I've heard this combo many times, I was praying "please let this be the end of the set" because I didn't want them to play that piece of shit. Yes I'd rather have less songs than hear Bayou at this point. I would watch Monk during Too Much to make sure he wasn't tuning another guitar. Maybe it's a problem I have, but other than Money, my favorite part of the encore was no Bayou.
- Show flowed VERY well. Didn't care much for Everyday, but ODH was quite nice. Knew they'd both be played though so I wasn't surprised and like I said we dodged a bunch of other shit that I've probably jinxed myself into getting tomorrow.
More thoughts as I think of them
