Is there a reason this file keeps saying it's an 'invalid torrent file'??? Any help would be much appreciated, it was such a great show.

FYI the way I split up my discs:
Disc 1: Seek Up through YMDT
Disc 2: #41 through So Damn Lucky
Disc 3: Bayou through Billies
Also if you import into iTunes, if you right click on the songs, choose Get info, click the option tab, choose +100% volume adjustment and select Treble Booster equalizer setting. Makes it sounds great.

This show was great, except for the drunk people trying to push their way to the front.
I was hoping that to find the Star Spangled Banner opening. Does anyone know where I could find that piece?
Thanks,
Jeremy

The problem with 24/48 is that unless you have equipment at temperatures around zero degress, no-one here will be able to resolve 24-bit. You max out at around 20/21 bit.
That's why 24/96 was chosen by Meridian Audio as the recommended resolution for DVD-Audio, because the extra sampling rate makes up for the shortcomings of 24-bit.
It is very unlikely that any of you would be able to pick out the 24/48 mix of this tape over the 16/44.1 mix, but highly likely that on a good system you'd pick out a 24/96 mix over the 16/44.1 mix.
Far too many studies show this:
http://www.ambisonic.net/pdf/hiresaudio.pdf
http://www.meridian-audio.com/ara/
If you're ripping from vinyl, 24/44.1 or 24/48 is great because you elimate the harmonic distortions that are inherent in analog vinyl recording, but for a direct to digital source like these, 24/96 is superior to 24/48 in all stages.

I would be willing to bet that a loud concert taped in 24/48 and converted to 24/96 would not be detectable in a double blind test of even the most "self-acclaimed" audioplhiles - regardless of playback equipment. We tape at 24bits to faciltate editing and protect headroom - loosing far less shows to "running too hot" because of the limitations of 16bit. And if your primary means of playback is an ipod or computor (not equiped with a 24/96 soundcard... discussing bitrate or sampling rate is well outside of what is actually being heard. Trust your ears - they are after all the final judge of what is pleasing to your musical soul.

Of course if you taped in 24/48 and converted to 24/96 you wouldn't hear any difference - you can't magically add resolution that isn't there.
However, taping in 24/96 and converting to 24/48 is noticeable.
I don't listen to iPod's and I don't listen to computers. I have the following set-up:
Fronts - Paradigm Monitor 11v5
Centre - Paradigm Monitor CC-370v4
Rears - Paradigm Monitor 11v4
Sub - Paradigm Servo 15v2
That gives me +/- 2dB from 15Hz to 22kHz and a 20kHz test tone is noticeable on my system, as is a 12Hz test tone even with everything nailed down.
I trust my ears implicity. The Downward Spiral was re-mastered at 24/192, yet it was presented at 24/48 on the DVD-A side of the DualDisc. Compare it to the DSD version on the SACD and it's night and day to my ears. The 24/48 falls well short and my system doesn't even do DSD natively, it converts to 24/96 PCM.

This probably falls into the same category as cable quality.. However, there are no existing studies that include double blind testing where audiophiles of any stature beat the mean in picking 96 over 48khz native recordings.

The article backs up my original thesis that 20/60 is the desired minimal level, hence why Meridian's paper suggests using 24/96 for MLP, the one written by Bob Stuart. It also shows that 24/96 was more desirable in listening tests, but not due to the high frequency response.
http://www.meridian-audio.com/w_paper/Coding2.PDF
Conclusions:
CONCLUSIONS
This article has reviewed the issues surrounding the transmission of high-resolution digital audio. It is suggested that a channel that attains audible transparency will be equivalent to a PCM channel that uses:
a) 58kHz sampling rate, and
b) i) 14-bit representation with appropriate noise shaping, or
ii) 20-bit representation in a flat noise floor, i.e. a ‘rectangular’ channel
This conclusion has the following obvious implications:
a) The CD channel with 44.1kHz 16-bit coding (even with noise shaping to extend the resolution) is inadequate
b) Even 48kHz sampling is not quite high enough
c) Sampling at 88.2kHz or 96kHz is too high, and therefore wasteful of data
d) The use of sampling rates above 96kHz to convey a wider audio bandwidth cannot currently be justified
And it definitely doesn't fall into the same category as cables, because you're not charging people $100 for a 24/192 recording over a free 24/48 recording unlike Monster Cable who want you to think there are four levels of HDMI and only the top cable is capable of 120Hz and deep colour when
a) there are no deep colour sources
b) there are no 120Hz sources
c) HDMI 1.1 specs for 4.6 Gbps transfer, almost 100 times more than any source currently on the market where a/v is concerned
