Let me start by saying I attended both shows in the NC swing as well. This concert had a different feel. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely cool. THe crowd waited all day, ran to the stage, chanted USA and sang the star spangled banner. They sang to every song and danced and had a great time. No crowd surfing or anything. Now for this hardcore ant to put a damper on the show (and i know it's just my opinion because to most this is a good show)
Seek Up - love the song, but disappointed to see it open two nights in a row. B+
Old Dirt Hill - repeat charlotte, still a fun song, just not that good. C
Best of Whats Around - knew it was coming because of soundcheck which took a little surprise out of it, but this song's come back was great. AWESOME. must download A +
Crush - great jam, but two nights in a row? B+
YMDT - another repeat from one of my other two shows (see the pattern) , good intensity from dave though. B-
41 - again, heard this the last concert in raleigh. always an awesome song for the crowd but a little let down in the variety at this point from my other shows. B+
Everyday - i wanted to see the setlist to see if this was a change because during the 41 "everyday" outro dave walked up to carter and they had a little chat and the song went straight into everday. i'd download this one, it was very good (even though it was played 3 straight nights) B+
Corn Bread - ugh.. fun song but PLEASE let it have time off, PLEASE B
Sail Away - expected sister, this was just a step above. it was alright, nothing close to spectacular. B-
Sledgehammer - expected this 100%. fun song, but don't play it everynight. A-
Ants - this is one of the few songs i'd heard on my run i genuinely loved the second time around. it was pretty standard, though. A
Sister - :thumbsdow :thumbsdow NO. it is too late in a show to play this song dave. you got your break in sail away. boo. D
So Damn Lucky - like ants, i wanted this repeat. i love this jam. not as good as raleigh's version, but decent. A-
Bayou - eh.. saw the guitar and knew it. alright performance, crowd ate it up. had a pretty fun time though. B
Crash - this is the point where i hit the third song i hadn't heard in my run yet. gross. it was a breath of fresh air to me. i enjoyed it thoroughly and i've never heard it live. A
SM2S - ASTB - 2Much - gross, just fucking gross. i am sick and tired of this combination and it gets overplayed almost as much as cornbread. uuuuugh. was hoping for sugar will and then two step here. B-
Encore - bets encore break i've ever seen. crowd was loud and then started the star spangled banner which left even the camera guy on stage smiling. when dave came out a USA chant started and the camera guy ran up and taped the whole thing. AWESOME moment and highlight of my night. A++++
Hey Hey My My - this is a great cover. didn't really expect it which is always good. plus, it was the fourth song of the show i hadn't already heard this summer. A
Billies - hmmm... raleigh anyone? good version though. B+
now i must admit i was feeling a little tired last night which is contributing to my attitude towards the show. for any other person attending just this concert it should have been a blast. because i went to charlotte and raleigh, it totally killed the concert. i only heard 4 new songs out of the 20 or so they played, plus the same opener AND closer from the previous show??? :shrug oh well. overall decent experience that i don't regret, just want more song variety.

Yeah, never in my life would I complain about seeing Seek Up 2 nights in a row, much less as an opener both nights.
I love how some people can find some reason to complain about show that featured Seek Up, #41, BOWA, Billies, and covers by Randy Newman, Peter Gabriel, and Neil Young. I was there, in the front, and it was the dopest show I've seen since 2000. The energy level was higher than anything I'd ever seen. Download: Crush, ASTB-->TM, So Damn Lucky (sickest outro ever), and Cornbread (yes, it may be getting overplayed, but its such a cool jam)....CHARLESTON KICKED ASS, and thats all there is to it.

P.S. The crowd singing the ENTIRE Star Spangled Banner during the encore was indeed the highlight of the night. Maybe the best moment of the last few years.

When the encore break gets a better grade than a Seek Up opener something is terribly wrong.

the only reason seek up didn't get A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++ is because it repeated as an opener. it's just because i expected variety though. it still fucking rocked. i love it. i was just a little annoyed they opened two nights in a row with it, at least mix it in the set somewhere else.

this might quite possibly be the worst review I've ever read. You fucking complained about a Seek Up opener because you saw it in Raleigh? Come the fuck on.
Lets see, you complained about hearing Seek Up, Crush, and 41 since you saw it the night before? Yet you were happy to hear Crash and Bayou? Wow, just wow.

crash was fresh. i wasn't happy to hear bayou fuckface.
deal with the fact i don't like to be able to predict every song in a set. i had a blast. i loved the environment. these last few shows have been almost complete copies of each other.

know who you are talking to before you try to call me out douchebag. You shouldn't be allowed back into a DMB show after complaining about a Seek Up opener and #41 being played 2 shows in a row. Seriously, what's wrong with you?

know who i'm talking to, really? why the fuck does it matter? it's my opinion. stop inserting giant assumptions like i hate seek up and 41 blows. hearing them back to back isn't as good as hearing 41 and seek up one night, then recently and bartender or pfwyg and typical situation. that's all i'm saying.
now go back to ruling your internet domain cool guy:cool

thank you this is all i am trying to say. everyone is gonna hear it and then it will become like the dreaming tree. half the people are still gonna love and and the other half are going to call it an overplayed classic. no one will be happy, including myself.

How the fuck does any of the above count as complaining? He loved the god damn performances, it's just a LITTLE bit disappointing and predictable hearing it two nights in a row. Just a little. Some people in this thread are acting like he just murdered the Pope by being somewhat let down by repeats, when really he's being a good sport by enjoying them. Fucking idiots.

I'll just go ahead and group you in the same category as that guy. I could hear #41 at every fucking show and I'd enjoy it just as much as the day before. If you don't like seeing #41 every show, well you just might as well quit going ot shows cause you can't be pleased.
And it appears you are far from being cool, douche.
:lol solsburyhill has been to 5 shows and justin 3? :lol and they are talking shit about Seek Up and #41 being played back to back shows.

Show where ANYONE in this thread said anything about not liking #41, you win. The OP was let down by the lack of variety, not the performance. Two different things. Nice reading skills.

I didn't say shit about those songs, I was pointing out your douchebaggery and lack of comprehension that the motherfucker enjoyed the hell out of his show.

i agree, i too have been belittled by other fans because ive only been to x amount of shows who think they have more passion because they have had more opportunities to see the band. and that is flat out gay..:thumbsdow
your review was completely honest and if i had seen 3 shows in a row so similiar in set list i might have been a little disappointed myself.. it's ok to be disappointed in repeats and it's not like your saying you didnt have a great time or didn't enjoy the show so I'm not sure about all the hostility and negativity towards you. that being said the repeats are understandable with coffin just added and the shows have been better than i expected with roi down...
now not being at the NC shows I loved the setlist, the energy, and just the whole experience... sugar will sound checks, seek up opener, BOWA, two covers I haven't heard, crowd singing star spangled banner during enocre break all made this my fav show out of my 9..... being in the front row and being with such great company may have had a slight influence on my opinion though ;)

oh yeah.. definitely. it was probably the best atmosphere of any concert i went to this year.

The way I see it, the NC swing should be treated like a 2 night stand, and to be honest I don't think it's that unreasonable to ask for a little variety. Maybe I'm wrong and that many people don't go to the NC shows back to back?
If this was a regular two nighter at Pittsburgh or something and they played the same opener two nights in a row, there would 20 different threads about it in DMBc.

i think everyone goes to both shows and i definitely think it should be treated like a two night stand. they are always back-to-back days with a lot of the same fans.

Brutal! What about the poor slobs who only get to go to ONE show??? I'm sure they appreciate the repeats that you slam so callously. (My 3rd show this tour, loved every minute.)
