Long day in the hot sun. I went down with near heat stroke around the 3 p.m. mark, but I bounced back in time for DMB.

Thought they came out pretty strong with DDTW, YMDT, Eh Hee and Two Step.

I felt Dave's voice was a little weak at the beginning of Proudest Monkey, but he bounced back and was hitting the high notes in Satellite.

Sledgehammer and Stay were a nice back-to-punch punch for the festival crowd. But when ODH followed, it dropped like a lead balloon.

Strong finish to the main set, even if it was a little on the hit-heavy side. A For-What-it's-Worth-less Jimi (including the Coffin on two saxes trick), #41 with a lengthy and stellar Arjuna interpolation, Billies, new and improved SDL, SMTS > Bridge > 2 Much > Ants.

Encore of Gravedigger and Thank You with Bayou sandwiched in the middle. I like Bayou, but it is a touch overplayed. This version didn't grab me. Conversely, that Thank You was off the hook.

It looks like Coffin's starting to settle in. I'd say more, but there was a Webcast - I don't need to tell you. You saw it.

It was my 37th show. It wasn't the greatest. It wasn't the worst. It was definitely in the top half, though. I remarked to a friend about halfway through, "I thought I would miss Butch more. But I don't."

Good work on the review. We were just left of the soundboard by the cameras... got there at 1 to throw down a tarp and claim some grass. John Mayer started 15 minutes early making it nearly impossible to get back to the tarp after jamming out with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. The energy was super high last night and where Dave's voice got in trouble, Carter stepped it up to take the focus off. Coffin has settled in, and down, and the energy that Tim brings to each song is ridiculous. I haven't seen them at a one-stop location since god knows when... it's hard thinking no music tonight after a great weekend.

coffin was about to explode on 41, he was great. i could see that rashawn was still signaling him in and out of song segments, but i attribute a lot of that to the fact that so many of the songs were given extended loops; can't expect coffin to know theyre going to go around twice on ants or the others

Is it bad form to post a review from watching on ATT Blue Room? I thought it was a nice show. I enjoyed mostly from the perspective of having seen both shows in W. Palm Beach, I believe every song last night was played one night or ther other there. Enjoyed watching from the comfort of my office chair with clear, lucid perception as opposed to the filter from tailgating for 7 hours both shows in WPB. Coffin is a real joy to watch with the band, as is Tim -- the differences from the previous "sound" on tour makes you enjoy the newness while also giving a fond appreciation for Le Roi and Butch. Am going to get to catch one more show this summer in Phoenix -- can't wait!
