Can't say much about the opener, Ingrid Michaelson, she was playing her last song (a Fools Rush In cover, it was ok) as I walked in. She was done by 7:50, boys came on stage about half an hour or so later.

I'll go song by song below, but overall this show kicked major ass. Probably the best all-around performance that I've ever seen from the band in my 15 or so shows. The band was SO INTO every song, and the run in the middle starting with Dancing Nancies through the end of the show was so awesome. I know we all like to follow setlists and argue about this show's set vs. another show's set, but PLEASE get this show and give it a listen before you judge. I've been listening to SPAC N2 for a month, and I personally think DC N1 is better. I'll DL the show and come back and share thoughts, since I obviously am a bit biased considering I was at DC and not SPAC.

DDTW - Knew it was coming when they started playing the little intro with it, had the screens in front that raised like most of the shows this year. First show for me with the screens, gotta admit they're pretty cool. Standard ass-kicking version, This Land is Our Land interpolation, got the crowd going.

SDL - sounded great live, better than on tapes (though I liked it on tapes as well), extended outro but with fewer round and rounds from Dave. Outro kicks ass.

Eh Hee - Eh, never been a big fan of this song, I just can't get down with a song with incoherent mumbling as its chorus. That being said, performance was tight, song plays well live and crowd loved it.

WWJ --> Two Step - I have to admit I had no idea WWJ was the intro played before Two Step. I thought it might have been but didn't think they'd play it before Two Step, but they did. IMO, this is where I started to realize the band was bringing it. Unique intro into Two Step, with Dave improv "daddy please" lyrics, and then what can you say about Two Step. Tim owns, then Carter kills it. GREAT great version.

PM ---> Satellite - Both good versions, Coffin was nice and smooth and not over the top on PM, and even Boyd sounded good on Satellite. My wife, who plays the violin, actually hits me here and says "Boyd's actually IN tune tonight!" HA, nice work Boyd.

Corn Bread - Rockin' version, seemed that Dave did less scatting/rapping than usual and you can really tell the band loves this song. This song converted my wife into a fan of the song, she'd never liked it before. Worth a download.

Dancing Nancies - very good version, Boyd did a great job on solo...crowd really got into it.

DT - Nice, tight version, didn't jam too long at the end, Rashawn solo and then wrapped it up nice and tight the way DT should be, IMO.

Sledgehammer - So good. Crowd LOVED it.

Stay - GREAT to hear this midset. I'd gotten tired of hearing this close shows, but I love this midset.

LLD - You see "rare" songs like his debut, and you wonder if the band plays it tight or if the rust shows and the performance is sloppy. Ex, I saw LLD and IBYU at Alpine 3 or 4 years ago, and while people got pumped to see them back, both performances were very sloppy, Dave forgetting lyrics, jam is off, etc. This was NOT sloppy, the band was tight and Tim and Jeff jammed together on the outro. VERY nice smooth version.

DIDO - thank you may I have another! What's not to love about this song?

Jimi- Awesome awesome awesome version! Dave sang all the verses, crowd really got into it and the jam was SWEET, Rashawn and Jeff jamming it out, then Dave scatting a little bit, again like DT they jammed hard a nd then wrapped it up nicely. Wondering at this point if the next song is the closer, it's past 10:30 at this point.....and then....

#41 - Download this version. Now. Awesome Tim solo, better than previous solos this year, then Sojourn of Arjuna for a few min and band starts to slow down to end the song with Carter and Boyd doing the ED outro. Then you see Jeff smiling this huge shit-eating grin walking towards Carter as if to say "Can you handle this?" Carter plays it right back at him and they pick it back up and JEFF COFFIN KILLED IT! Carter was cracking up, Dave kept pointing at them and dancing, they didn't want to end.

SMTS --> ASTB --> Too Much - ASTB kicked ass. Towards the end I lost focus on the songs because some asshole who snuck into the pavilion (I was in the aisle between Sec D and Sec E, row S) was getting kicked out, got aggressive with the guards so they called in 4-5 more people. Then, this dumbass bolts, runs out of the pavilion and into the lawn, and the chase was on. He got about halfway up the lawn, amazingly, before the guards caught up to him, and then he got what was coming to him. Let's just say he must have took a real nasty "fall" because he had blood running all down his head when they brought him back out.

YMDT - This song is fun live. Everyone needs to stop bitching so much, I'd take this as encore opener ANY show I go to, and how could you complain about this when you look at the other options. Sister, Gravedigger? No thanks. The band loves this song, it's done well live.

Bayou - Was hoping for Ants or Billies to solidify this show as a great set, but we got Bayou. Not my favorite, like Stay I'm ok with the song midset but it shouldn't close. That being said, great performance, and I'd still take this encore over most other encores this year, including SPAC n2. Would you REALLY rather hear LIOG reprise, SDL and Thank You over this?

Anyways, there's my review. Sorry so long, but it really was an unbelieveable experience, and wanted to share my thoughts with you all. This show is definitely worth a download, let me know what you think of the tapes. Here's to a great N2!!

Really? I'd much rather have SPAC N'2. Your encore was a slap in the face to that great main set.

I was at DC N1, couldn't make N2 sadly. Everything the original poster said is 100% right. Except for the encore. Two Stand Up songs left a bad taste in my mouth after one of the best set lists I've ever been to. Even though I was into it, I was hoping for a third song after Bayou but that was the end. Considering I've never heard Thank You, I'd take SPAC N1 over anything so far.

n1 and n2 were amazing. if anyone was there, i was one of the guys selling stickers to offset carbon emissions. (i got into the shows for free, MAJOR bonus!) but n1 was great, not shit compared to n2. a great version of LIOG with coffin going nuts!

Ok, I posted this in the Deer Creek thread, but I wanted to post it here as well. You could say I was intimately involved with this situation...

That guy was dancing in the aisle with a bunch of other people. Security was letting it go for awhile, but it started to get a bit out of hand. They had like 5 security guys clearing the aisle and herding people back into their rows. Well, this guy was apparently from my row, and I was sitting on the aisle seat. He was getting a little mouthy with the security guy who was calmly trying to get him to go to his seat, and while he was passing me, he full out backhanded me in the nose. I actually thought it was going to be broken. He didn't mean to do it, but he did it. Right towards the beginning of Too Much. Anyway, him punching me is what got security on him, and like 5 guys ran into the row to bring him out. They got him to the aisle, and were going to escort him out. They started to walk him towards the stage, but he took off and ran into the lawn. Of course he was chased. It was like 3 to 5 minutes later, and I see them bringing him down with blood covering his face. One of the security guys ran over and got me when they were walking him down, so I went right up to him, got right in his face, gave him the finger, and a big fuck you. What an asshole. I hope he got arrested.

Just got back and after looking at the sets i came to the conclusion that N1 was a better show but N2 i had more fun cuz i was in the pavilion.....i don't think i ever want to go back to the lawn lol

Great weekend though. Two very solid sets and no repeats!!!!

No repeats shows an effort from Dave to keep it more interesting. I will definitely be at Deer Creek next year!

Just got back from Noblesville... two of the best shows that I have ever seen. We had a blast and just let me say that despite the one individual running into the lawn or whatever... the crowd for the most part was very kind. Met a lot of very nice people. Looking forward to DC next time around.

Over a YMDT and Bayou encore? Yes.
