Sadly this is my last show of the summer, but wow was it a great one.
Don't Drink The Water - solid as usual, was worried we'd be in for a mediocre night considering no sax was present.
One Sweet World- this song needs a sax, Rashawn didn't sound right by himself on this
So Damn Lucky - great 08 version, wasn't jammed out too long at all.
Old Dirt Hill - Short, very short.
Cornbread - this got the crowd going, Dave left the "Yeah Yeah I know you love me" part out which was surprising
#27 - hadn't caught it all summer until tonight, I like the bridge and Dave had some good lyrics in it tonight.
Everyday - let me start this off by saying the Halloween chants were the most powerful things I have ever heard by a collective group, the whole damn place was yelling it. Boyd started it off and Dave was staring at Carter the whole time up until it was Carter's time to bust in then...
Halloween - Christ on a cracker! I never thought I would see this song live, especially in August, at Riverbend of all places. Dave fumbled the first few lyrics then came back strong, way better than RR 05 and Vegas' versions. Dave had a smile on his face the whole time.
Water/Wine Jam - wow this could turn into something great, this lasted for about 6/7 minutes and had 4/5 verses and some great vocal work from Dave after Halloween. The crowd around me was great and were quiet as a whistle during this song.
Everyday - solid version, the crowd was still coming down from Halloween.
ASTB -> Too Much (fake) - knew it was coming although the stop time was very short, didn't know what it would go into
Tripping Billies - great version, Rashawn held his own on this and this was my first Billies of the summer and first time ever hearing it midset.
Out of My Hands - understandable break for the band, the crowd seemed to enjoy this
Crush - great version, it didn't have the duel obviously but Boyd and Tim both had some great solos, this had a very different feel too it tonight, and i liked it, Rashawn's muted trumpet and Tim's solos were nothing short of jazz at its finest.
Burning Down the House - this is 2nd only to Money in my eyes, Sledgehammer is nowhere near as good as this cover.
The Idea Of You - saw the little guitar at one of my concerts for the first time all summer and knew it wasn't going to be Shotgun. I must say the new Dave intro into this sounds great.
Granny - nice surprise late in the set, tons of energy and participation by the crowd.
Eh Hee - Standard, I like it.
Water/ Wine reprise - Dave came to the mic and said a few lyrics from the song, it wasn't more than 15/20 seconds.
#41 - I was curious as to how this would sound without the sax, and the answer is amazing. Tim did an excellent job doing Roi's fills with the electric and had a great solo, Boyd had a nice solo as well.
You Might Die Trying - this was actually a segue from #41 although it's not noted on here. Tim tore this version up, I figured this would be the set closer.
Ants Marching - sounded just fine without a sax, I like the longer outro.
Two Step - 1 song encore, couldn't care less after the show I just witnessed, this version had an INCREDIBLE solo from Carter, the place was in awe, I suggest checking this one out.
Overall, I am in complete shock still from the show. I was fortunate enough to see both nights at Deer Creek and Louisville before and this show ranks as a close second to Deer Creek N1 in terms of my favorite's that I've attended. The performances were spot on and I suggest checking out the tapes on this one.
