I am floored by this entire show, but the best thing of the night was Jimi Thing. Not only did Tim rip apart a solo, Jeff played TWO saxs' at the same time AND the crowd sang LEAD, yes LEAD on two whole verses clearly. I like this no Butch Jimi, its exciting and rejuvenated.

The two sax thing is just insane. Coffin is a monster, every time he belted out one of those really nasty notes I'd just laugh and smile. The guy is just amazing.
And yeah, the crowd singing Jimi was very, very awesome.

I know the encore was rough but i dont get how ants doesnt give that set 5 stars still... warehouse opener? ridiculous... for me it was one of those shows, it didnt matter about the encore because it was def the best setlist I've ever seen in person.

Does anyone have an actual review of this show? In the "review thread" the first one describes one song not a review.

Some us are there to enjoy the show, not write a book report. I bring along a notebook and some dictation equipment next time.
Hope this looks ok, Jeff playing the double sax:

Wow, I was surprised that there was only one real review of Night 1 and I just thought, maybe they'll wait until after Night 2 to give their review.
However, here we are, late afternoon the next day, and we STILL have no one else giving their reviews of either night? :confused:thumbsdow:thumbsdow

Hope this looks ok, Jeff playing the double sax:I'm not sure if you just never caught reviews in the past but I can recall in-depth reviews from multiple people coming back from shows, and not the day after but a few hours later. then someone decided this would be a good place to post those reviews, and it is...except all of that enthusiasm for reviewing shows seems to have disappeared.
what's the point in making a thread saying "THE SHOW WAS AWESOME! I LOVED X SONG! WOOO!"
I could do that from home if I wanted, it would be about the same amount of information.
Point is, yes there used to be some very in-depth reviews, no equipment needed other than the person's brain. Now there are not. It was a nice treat for us fans who aren't at the shows. Thanks for being a dick though :rolleyes
EDIT: and yes, very cool pic, he does that madness with the Flecktones plenty.
EDIT 2: this is more along the lines of what used to be posted http://antsmarching.org/forum/showthread.php?t=228458, many times even more in depth than that.

Warehouse- Hearing Dave hit those first chords sent the place nuts. Was not expecting Warehouse to even be played seeing as how it was only played once all year. Just tremendous. Tim and Jeff added quite a bit to the song.
Granny-Good old school song, kept the place rocking and sounded awesome with Timmy.
PNP-Rapunzel, your typical Rapunzel so far great set figured couldn't keep up and then came..
ODH-I knew we were going to get it so figured we'd get it out of the way early. It wasn't bad, but would've rather heard plenty more songs obviously.
The Stone-Shiit, its the stone what do you expect. It was everything and then some. The crowd sang Can't Help Falling in Love as a nice outro. Carter melted faces off at the end of the song.
Crash-Sent the radiofans into a frenzy that were left over from the night before. Pretty good song though can't complain.
Gravedigger- Your typical Gravedigger, like it better fullband than solo
R+R- Tim added a nice touch
Stay Or Leave- Never thought I would ever hear that at Alpine these 2 nights. Dave dedicated it to his love who was there somewhere. I believe it was his anniversary with his wife. Sounded killer. Like most songs first time they're played didn't have Jeff on it, sounded great regardless.
Dreaming Tree- Rashawn was blowing his brains out. I thought he was going to have a heartattack. Great version got quite long at the end but still tremendous.
Sledgehammer- Great song for the crowd to sing along with. Band does a great job with it and its a fun and lively song. Guess the word to describe it was fun.
Stay-I honestly love Stay so long as it's not an encore or set closer and it was too early to be a set closer and it sounded pretty solid.
LLD- Figured we sure as hell wouldnt hear this song. Dave started playing the riff and I thought maybe he was just messing around and going to play Billies but wound up doing a tremendous job.
Jimi-Crowd sang the 2 verses. Did a tremendous job. Timmy just tore it up. Amazing how fast that guy can change his fingers and just shred the hell out of a song. Crowd also forced the band to play, Stop what's that sound everybody look whats goin down.
Grey St.- Typical grey st. Pretty decent.
SMTS- Wasn't expecting this as they hadn't played it in a while. Was pretty solid, no different than any other SMTS. Knew what was coming next...
Bridge- Stop Time Intro, not as long as the previous night but still did the job. Stefan was his usual hoppy self. Figured we'd get a full Too Much seeing as we had SMTS..
(Too Much)> LIOG- Unbelievable, don't think many people were expecting it and the band did a great job. Missed the reprise but was hoping for it in the E1 spot.
Too Much-Then came the full too much. Was your typical Too Much, loved the videos playing on the backround, sort of creepy but thought it was pretty cool.
Figured that would end the set then they busted into Tripping Billies, did a damn good job and by this time they were past 11 again on the night so figured it was the last in the set.
Band only was gone for 4-5 mins, came back out and Dave was fumbling around with IBYU, couldn't believe it, was disappointed we didn't hear it but was cool to hear him play the riff while talking to us. Then it went from this to..
Cornbread- Pissed me off because we'd seen it the night before and they hadn't been playing it at both nights of a 2 night stand. The crowd ate it up however.
Dave then said he wanted to thank us all for coming out for the weekend from the bottom of his heart, so I knew what was coming next.
Thank You- Same Thank You as always. I had seen it before so I had seen the whole show pretty much for the song. He did his usual dancing. However, it was cool people threw some hats on the stage and he put on a Brewers hat and danced around. Someone threw a volleyball on stage he read it then punted it into the crowd. The crowd loved the song and stayed forever singing the thank you lyrics.
At the end they did their usual waves and Carter tossed out his abundance of sticks, probably in the ballpark of 30-35 sticks.
Although the encore lacked, it was a hell of a show, and a hell of a weekend.

Well the show was a Sunday show and people do work on mondays and some people dont live here to type long ass shit out for you to read that most songs were just typical and that there were three or four shinning moments, so we abbreviated and just gave you the shinning moments. Sorry our reviews offended you.

Here's another:
Warehouse- I was both surprised and not surprised (since Nancies opened last night) that this started the show. At least it wasn't Old Dirt Hill.
Granny- Booya. We're off to another nice and refreshing start.
Pantala Naga Pampa »
Rapunzel- More BTCS, heck yes. If you read the N1 review, you know I like me some BTCS. This weekend was Dave's early Xasm present to me.
Old Dirt Hill (Bring That Beat Back)- I brought the beat back to the bathroom.
The Stone- Here I started to actually consider we might get ALL of BTCS before the weekend was over. How cool would that have been?
Crash Into Me- I've got a soft spot for this song. The video way back when was what got me to pay attention to the band in the first place, and I still like to hear it.
Gravedigger- One of the best things Dave has done in the last 8 years. This year's version is really good.
Rhyme and Reason- I tend to kind of forget that this song exists. Not sure why that is... but then when I hear it at shows I'm reminded that it's a pretty good track.
Stay or Leave- Definitely a surprise. Love the Some Devil album, so I enjoy hearing these tracks.
The Dreaming Tree- This is my favorite Dave Matthews Band song. I was glad they didn't open with it like they did last year just because that was a real special moment for me and I didn't want a redux kind of spoiling it. But I am glad we got to hear it again. I'd take it at every show.
Sledgehammer- Of the new covers, I got to hear all the ones I wanted to- this, Money, and Burning Down the House. All were straightforward versions, but they did them very well.
Stay (Wasting Time)- Now I was *really* hoping we'd hear all of BTCS before the night was out. We didn't, but if you'd have told be I'd hear all but 2 BTCS songs this weekend I'd have called you a tease and a bitch.
Lover Lay Down- Completely surprising song. Pretty sure this was the first time I heard it live. Loved it.
Jimi Thing- Kinda figured this would be coming today (this and #41, which is conspicuous by its absence- surely we could have traded Old Dirt Hill for it, yeah?). Frankly I don't recall a whole lot of it, but I do remember the crowd singing most of it. That and the For What It's Worth outro. Maybe the crowd did that on their own, too. It was a pretty spectacular crowd.
Grey Street- 8 years later or whatever and I'm still amazed how a pretty depressing song can sound so positive.
So Much to Say »
Anyone Seen the Bridge »
Too Much (fake) »
Lie in Our Graves »- Well, this was a pretty cool little run, wasn't it? ASTB is again more intense than I'm used to hearing.
Too Much- Pretty much had to play it at this point. It wouldn't have felt right.
Tripping Billies- Like Ants, not a song I particularly care for, but I understand its appeal and why it's such a staple. And it was especially nice since I was sure that Too Much would be the set closer... these shows got loooooooooong, but in a totally good way.
I'll Back You Up (tease)- Now this is what I call a tease. To go from this to
Cornbread- Fuck Cornbread. I still hate it. And I hated it more in the encore of such a strong show. Obviously it doesn't ruin the show or anything, but of all the songs to repeat why'd it have to be this one? WHY?
Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)- I like this song, but I really like the D&Friends Bonnaroo 04 version and wasn't too keen on having that memory tainted with another. But, the song was still fun and the real story is obviously the crowd sticking around forever after the band was long gone and continuing the singing. I sat up on the lawn and just listened. It was really cool.
I don't think I mentioned him a whole lot in either review, but it was refreshing to have Tim playing. I liked Butch's work, but after 10 years or whatever it's nice to hear something a bit different in many of the song staples. Obviosuly the guitar adds different color to songs than keyboards do, and Tim's playing is pretty unique to begin with. I hope he sticks around for a bit...

I wasn't really sure what was going to happen with this Sunday show, I mean Saturday stunned everyone and well how do you back that up? Well, I'd say it was well done, although I sure was hoping the "Last Stop" chant would have convinced them to play it, I still can't complain. I can say of all the shows I've seen this back 2 back sets may very well take the cake. The band was having a great time both nights and the stage presence was even more awesome than usual. Great shows!

I will try and post my review of the weekend tonight when i get home from work. Spent yesterday sleeping and today working, so a bit behind.
Was anyone else in the part of the yellow lot closest to the Police trailer? Some poor drunk guy passed out next to a pickup truck sunday night, and the truck didn't realize he was there and drove over part of him.
