well let me start off saying this was show number #43 for me, and probably my all time favorite....
was a depressing day for me...
they all came out dressed in black except Boyd...
and Carter was smiling less than one minute into Seek Up.... you knew this was going to be a killer show and set...
more to come!!!

a great show. lots of energy and plenty of stories about leroi. apparently he hated #41 as dave saideven from those few lines, it sounds like the band purged a great deal of sadness and anguish at last night's show, and that tonight may have been more a celebration of Roi. i can feel that vibe in the air anyways...

ok; ready to continue; still on my biggest high of the year....
crowd was chanting leroi for about 5 minutes before the screen went on...
SU, was incredibly clean, tight and beautiful, pretty sure it clocked in at 14 minutes...the band was feeding off each other....Carter was back to himself...you could see the private exchanges taking place on the stage...
blew my pants when heard the first notes of Warehouse:
what a great version, a bit different than last year...funny how well Jeff blends in, you would think he has been playing with DMB for years...,
2 for 2 so far...
then;
awesome Gravedigger; however the intro was something like " as you know I write a bit about dying, but it is really a love song, and these are really love songs" we all know this... but was great to hear this, and now I knew anything was fair game...(got what I prayed for in the setlist later)...
best version of Gravedigger...I have heard...
3 for 3; then R&R...love this live , again my favorite version to date...absolute intensity... got to listen to this one again...
then Crush, 5/5,,,, my best setlist so far in 43 shows... felt like I had gone to heaven...
was praying for this, saw you guys put this on youtube and Tim and Jeff were fucking sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!blew my pants again..and again,,.. and again...
am now praying they are recording this for future release not just on cd, but dvd... because this is one sick fucking show...
now you might say odh... huge letdown...but actually fit right in... cooled the mood off a bit, but was a beautiful sounding tune, much better than last years...
THEN: my prayers are answered again...
41, sick, sick, sick, intense,,,,and the INTRO by DAVE "CARTER HATED THIS SONG".... with a huge smile... my highlight of the night, well one of my 3...
could listen to this song over and over, and not get sick of it...
awesome..
YMDT (my favorite newer tune) loved it, really tight with Tim, again the buildup with Jeff and Tim was incredible, so much raw energy and power, blew piedmont away,,,, love this tune, this could close a show!!!
my batting average is close to 1000 , didn't care what else they played at this point...
well knew wayg was coming... and it did, was okay
sick version of Rapunzel...loved it..
and loved oomh... thought it was going to be stolen away... was happy to hear this,,, dave told another story about roi...
jimi thing was sick, was praying for liog, but didn't want to get greedy, not sure if this was on the setlist..will find out soon enough...
we were all hoping for halloween after bridge, a bit disappointed but after the segue into ants last night, was cool to hear too much...
a bit disappointed with bayuo, great energy, was just hoping for a different one..
now E1 my real disappointment of the night,
have no clue why they repeated and put this there, didn't belong... need to see if this was on the setlist...
and Stay was the perfect way to close it out...
another 3 hour show, ended at 11:21....
THANKS DMB, AFTER 15 YEARS WATCHING YOU THIS IS ONE OF MY TIME FAVORITES,WILL NEVER FORGET THIS SHOW....
DAVE KEPT THANKING US, WE SHOULD BE THANKING HIM

ps, cool guys in 109 (broken leg)... have a great time in Berkeley...

Hate to be the one to throw reality in jazzman's review, but the LeRoi chants lasted for all of 10 seconds when the lights went down. 5 minutes wasn't even close.

Wait, he's saying BEFORE the lights went down. I didn't even hear them....

Havent been on in a while..........there should be no celebrating setlists....

If you're over it or not....we all lost a brother

Setlist's are meaningless

Roi, I thank you for the last 12 years

You were the angel in a world of shit

I'll forever miss you

while I agree, the band wanted everyone to have a good time and enjoy themselves and the songs too. The band mentioned several times how they were celebrating his life. So celebrating is appropriate.

Seriously, are you insane?

We all lost someone we love, someone very close. But more importantly, Roi would wanted this to have happened. He wants us to mourn, but more importantly he wants us all to continue enjoying this band he practically founded.

I'm very jealous of all you in LA. Wish I could spend this moment in time with the band.

Just got home from Staples. Much different show from last night. The boys were back and more powerful than ever. The show was just raw energy. Song after song, they were blowing it out of the arena. Even though we had two slower songs (WAYG and Out Of My Hands) the show was the most powerful show I think I've seen. And I don't know if it's just me or if I just haven't seen Jeff enough, but it really felt like Roi's spirit came down and played through Jeff. During #41 he went CRAZY! I've never heard a sax played like that before. It was an incredible. I loved the stories Dave told about Roi, I hope he has a story for every show, I think everyone should get a chance to hear something awesome about Roi. Insane show. Made me wanna STAY!

That was my feeling after attending both shows. Tonight was a celebration and celebrate they did. A funny dave speak from the night, just before oomh, he sits down at his piano and says. "This isnt a piano, its a box, i keep a dead monkey in hear" or something to that effect, then he went on to explain that he also keeps a dead frog in there. It amazing to see him so goofy at such a hard time. There was a huge change in the band from the start of bartender last night to stay tonight. I think the rest of the tour will be special.

I felt like tonight was a celebration, too. Seems like they blew the roof off the place with Warehouse and it never came back down. Crush especially was insane. The dueling solo (can I call it solo when it's two people?) between Jeff and Tim was out of this world. Pure, unbridled energy. Jeff struts across the stage as he starts his solo and starts riffing in front of Tim, who feeds off him, and the two go back and forth for the rest of the song.

The #41 solo by Jeff was amazing as well, and the segue from #41 > YMDT was great. It doesn't show as a > on the setlist page, but it really was. There was no break.

As for Sledgehammer, although I was surprised to hear that as a repeat, I felt it fit the night. At one point in the middle of the set, I found myself thinking it was a shame they'd played the song the previous night, because I felt it would have fit the celebratory feeling of this, the second night, much better. Night 1 I felt it was out of place. But night 2 it seemed right to me.

Seek Up, Warehouse, Crush, #41, Rapunzel and Jimi Thing were all highlights tonight. Great versions on all of them. Carter was doing some amazing stuff on Rapunzel that I personally haven't heard before, but I haven't been listening to the shows from earlier in the tour; was waiting to see them first.

I have been to over 20 shows here in LA. To all of you that sat on your hands, please don't come back next year. Staples Center sucks, Hollywood Bowl or Verizon are much better venues. I am embarrassed for my fellow Angelinos. Dave and the boys played a great show, but the crowd acted like it was the 7th innning @ Dodger Stadium--time to leave. The San Diego show will surely be better.

I just want to say there are many reasons why people are sitting at a show. I've been to 25 shows and have sat at every one of them. I have disabilities that keep me from dancing all night. You can't tell by looking at me and sometimes the handicapped area is full (mostly of people who sneak in there..please don't do this) so I have to sit in a regular seat. I pay money for that seat just like anyone else. I don't care if you dance so don't be bothered if I sit. Don't be so quick to judge...I have a great time at shows.

Glad to hear someone who has been to lots of shows felt the same way.

I've only been to one show back in '02, and they blew me away then, but I definitely felt something special in the air the other night.

And the setlist! WOW! I mean, I was hoping for an awesome set list to mark Roi's passing but the band far exceeded any hopes. So much love in the room...amazing. Seek up had me in tears, and I truly felt something cosmic during Gravedigger. Unreal!

I was wondering if anyone else heard Dave say something like "a lot of our songs sound like they're about dying but they're actually songs about living" before Gravedigger. I thought he said "living," but maybe he actually said "loving" or something else, it was kind of loud in my section so I might not have heard right.
