Excellent show last night.
Bartender - Surprise opener for me - since they did it last night. But was thrilled to see it. Great extended version - this apparently has become their tribute to Roi. Its opened 3 of 4 shows since then. Great version last night.
YMDT - Nice version of this song. Nothing extended - but nice, tight song.
Nancies - I'm biased - my personal favorite - so everytime I get it I'm thrilled. Good standard version.
#27 - another song I enjoy (admittedly others don't). Band did a nice job on this one.
Burnin' Down The House - Excellent, Excellent cover. Granted - it is a cover - but damn - one of the highlights of the night. Seeing the guys up close (we were in the 5th row) - this was really amazing.
Sugar Will - Great extended version. Coffin was incredible on this one. Nice, nice song.
Cornbread - Danny Barnes came out - played the banjo - then took over the mike from Dave and actually made vocal banjo sounds while playing the banjo. Dave had a great time during this one - fun song. Its definitely grown on me over the past year. Enjoy hearing it now.
Money - I'm sure I'm in the minority - got really sick of the PF floyd version - so I'm admittedly biased going into it. Band played it well - but for me - one of the down spots of the set.
So Damn Lucky - Not sure who before me said this was average - but just an awesome version of this song. One of the highlights of the night. Horn section was incredible. (And on a tangent - I really, really appreciate and enjoy what Rashawn brings to this band.)
#41 - UNBELIEVABLE version. Saw Crush in St. Louis with the extended soloing/dueling by Tim and Roi. Tonight it was Carter/Jeff. Ridiculous. Coffin walked over to the drum set - stood facing Carter - and the two just basically went at it for 7 minutes or so. Tim just stood there looking at them - smiling the whole time. For me - this tied for the highlight of the night.
Old Dirt Hill - Not a fan of the song - they did a decent, tight version. But it game me my first chance to sit down and rest my broken toe.
Jimi - First time I've seen it live - nice extended version. Crowd sang the first two verses. Fun, fun song last night.
SMTS - Fun song - I like it - the band seemed to be having fun with it.
ASTB - Good song - I would say most of the crowd didn't even know what it was though.
Too Much -Good version - Dave did a great job with the lyrics - you could see him really straining to belt this one out.
Stay - Eh - not a fan of the song - spent most of it just watching Rashawn do his trumpet juggling.
DDTW - LOVE this song - was surprised to see it after they closed it in Chula. Nothing extra in this song - but it doesn't need it. I think this is where people who write that shows are 'average' miss the boat. Not every song needs an extended version/solo or Dave acting/dancing crazy. In fact - I would argue that would demean this song. I thought it was great.
2 Step - Seriously? Wow - the other moment that tied for my highlight of the night. Standard intro - led to a ridiculous Tim solo followed by the most incredible Carter solo you can imagine. Unbelievable, Unbelievable way to end the night. I normally prefer this song as an opener - but wow - it was perfect at E2 last night.
Look forward to seeing those going to the Gorge next weekend.
