This is mostly for drummers, but I'm sure others know it, but since I'm only a guitar player, what does Carter play to make the sound at the start of Grey Street? I can sort of picture it but don't know the order of things played and their names, cuz I hear it in other songs too like Captain and others. Just was interested to know. Please don't respond with: a drum set or variations of.

What Carter is actually doing - and this is taken from the boot-leg "Lilly White Sessions" recording...I don't know if he changed it for "Busted Stuff" - is a 5 stroke roll on his high-hat with a snare hit right after, a single kick on the bass drum, then those two kind of funky sounds at the end are two "splash" cymbals.
It is a great intro and is typical "Carter-Genius" playing.
Hope this answers your question. Let me know if it doesn't or if you have any other questions.

Actually, in BS, he shortens his original LWS intro. The hi-hat roll at the beginning is shorter, maybe a three-stroke (I don't do rudiments, lol)... and then the snare and splashes like you said. If you imagine an intro measure to the song, he starts on the "e" of 3. Counting it out, it would be <rest> <rest> <r>-E-&-A 4-E-<r>-<r>. Confused? Me too.

Actually, Carter hits the splash cymbal only once during the intro to Grey Street. Listen to the song again or take a look at any live footage of him playing it.

hey guys i was wondering if any drummers wanted to just throw together some recordings for fun of some DMB tunes... i play guitar and I love to record but it's always empty without drums. I've done it once, where I recorded a guitar track and sent it to the drummer and they laid down drums on a different wave track going along with my guitar and then i put them together... it sounded pretty badass
