so im trying to do some firewire recording. mic/guitar. and i constantly get fuzz due to low buffer settings. however when i increase them i still get the problem. i'm running a presonus fp10 (which requires 512mb ram and a 1.25 ghz processor) and i have 1.25gb and a 2.0ghz processor so things should be fine, but i dont know. any ideas?

fuzz due to low buffer settings?
I use a Digidesign 003, so I can't really be sure about your particular issue, but buffer underruns in anything usually are system errors that will completely stop a recording, or clicks and pops and dy-syncs if you turn off error checking...
so are you just getting a low-level buzz all the time, as in some RF hum or interference? or could you possibly be clipping one or both channels and getting some distortion induced...?
I don't mean to doubt your buffer problem but are you positive that's the error?

its like complete distortion. if i was clipping it would show up on the hardware (presonus FP 10) as well as in the software levels. when i click on stop recording it says Lost ASIO errors: (then it gives me a high number depending on how long ive been playing) then it says to fix the problem increase your ASIO buffer settings
its not like a background hum, or interference, its like i have a distortion pedal turned way up when i dont even own one :lol
i could post a sample later in the day if you still don't follow

turned out to be RAM issues...
