First, i'm thinking of getting a electric guitar around december, are there any recommendations for a good one thats sub-600 bucks? i'm not looking for an amazing one, but then again i don't want a shitty one either.

Second, once you get the hang of it, So Damn Lucky has to be one of the most fun songs to play on the guitar. I love the riff and everything about that song, anyone else agree?

You might be able to find a used Fender Stratocaster (Not U.S Made) for sub-600 bucks..

and yes, sdl is a fun tune!

Yeah, I got a Fender Telecaster (Mexican made) for 400 at guitar center. It sounds great, it has always gotten really great reviews.

First as others have stated if you like the Fender option, you can get that in your price range. I play mostly acoustic, but wanted to pick up an electric for a change of pace and some recording and picked up a used Mexican Sunburst Strat (a beauty), new strings, stand and a new GenzBenz 30W tranzamp for less than $ 500.00 tax included. I wanted (still want) an american telecaster, but after playing over 30 differenet Strats/Telecasters really liked how this one played and figured I could pick up the American Tele later.

Second, SDL is fun to play. I like the chorus. I can't sing, but can almost pull that one off :p

I know nothing about electric guitars.

But to SDL, big :thumbsup The outro this year was simply amazing.

For "around 500" money, I'd recommend a Schecter... Those play pretty nice for the money and they have a pretty wide range from semi-hollowbodies to full on ibanez shredding sorta-things... Always been impressed playing them whenever I've had a chance. They look real nice too.

Yea, as someone said, you should be able to get a good Mexican Strat or Tele for that money too, I'm just not that much of a single-coil guy?

I made a mistake a few years back and bought a Chinese Epi Les Paul for around 500 bucks, the intonation is awful (i think it has to be due to the crap fret job on it) and the pickups need to go for some good Duncans or something. But I'm not playing that much electric currently, so I'll probably just save up for a good one and dump this one off rather than pour another 300-400 bucks into it.

bump that price up to 800 bucks and get yourself a scraps Gibson Les Paul.

I own a 90s Epi Les Pau with a bunch of custimized bits and pieces and i love it.

I still would like a Tele though, for a single coil sound.

SDL is TITS.
