Ive just started playing and I'm startin out with proudest monkey I can play the riff decently but is there an easy way to avoid making a noise when I lift my finger off a string after playing it?

I'm guessing you pull it off in a way where you pick the string? Lift it straight up if that's the case.

If it's a new guitar, chances are you're getting those sounds mainly because your action is too high - most new guitars come from the factory with the action a tad too high. Take your guitar to a local dealer and have it professionally set up, including, among others things, lowering the action.

This should help with what your noticing, and should also make playing a bit easier. Hope that helps.
