i cannot confirm whether or not Stan is in the studio right now because he hasn't called me since like 9...but i can confirm this legendary stan story from when I had a new years party last month... At around this time that night, I took a full garbage bag from the kitchen and threw it into the garage like I had with every other bag that night. But when i threw this one, it made a funny thud sound and some girl yelled 'OW WHAT THE F!?!' so I turned the garage light on to see what happened.
the girl was naked laying on the ground in pain and low and behold, drunk stan was sitting indian style right next to her. Stan didnt even smile. he looked at me and said, "bullseye" and then started hooking up with her again.
more stan and zach stories tomorrow...
the stan and I in a different garage... (Pic of Stan with some hot jb

Dave's manger is Coran Capshaw. Though I think you are talking about his assistant Brett Radin.
The bolded are the most exciting news.
Stan I'm sorry for not believing you before but you came in here with a story full of holes. I think you understand. Is the OP (zach) your alter though...that part of it all still seems curious.
no...i'm not stans alter...look at the pic i uploaded like last night around this time....

stan and zach storytime episode 2
when stan was still living in dallas about 2 years ago, we went to see borat the night it came out...
it was an epic movie and all, but there was one moment that night at the theater that surpassed anything that happened on the screen.
Some girls tagged along with us, and stan was spitting game with this girl libby the whole frickin night...she's now a mexican crack whore, but she used to be cute back in the day, so it was all good.
Well anyway, as the packed theater looked on in astonishment during the borat/azamat naked fight scene, arguably the most disgusting two minutes of film ever made, I looked beside me to see libby and stan going at it. she was straddling stan and they were dry humping the s out of each other...all the while borats getting smothered by azamats scrot. stan's knack for romanticism had struck again. all i could say was 'greaaat success'
then i puked in my mouth and had nightmares for like three days after as the legend of stan lived on...high five.

How is it going? Im really losing track of this forum. I just got into Atlanta about an hour ago. My parents, and I are driving down to Athens tomorrow to visit UGA. When we were in the car my Dad got an Email from Rob saying. "Thanks for everything, lets chat tomorrow." I'm assuming the chat will be about them going to another game. Most likely Orlando WED night. Which is an ESPN game. so everyone can watch. I need your suggestions on what questions to ask when I get back to the studio.
About the "live as hell thing" Im pretty sure he meant the album has a live feel to it, because he said it sounds like our older stuff, and he said the songs were recorded live. I don't know much about recording, and what not, but it sounds interesting.

I'm just psyched about GARDEN HORSE!
BTW- I do think it is supposed to be Garden Hose. I actually had a DREAM the other night that I heard it-the first single. It was mainly an acoustic song if I remember correcty, maybe best resembling an acoustic version of Say Goodbye-but the end of the song was actually experienced by using a garden hose to pour water on my head, and the last minute of the song was played through the water. Weird huh? Can Stan confirm my dream?

please, for the sake of stan, do not post anymore stories. to imagine that our savior, stanley kaufman, is one of those guys that tries to publicly get ass in a movie theatre, scares me.

Awesome. Just go ahead and lock it in.. there's nowhere better :).
If you want to check out something DMB related, go see the Georgia Theatre.. that's where they played in Athens before they hit it big.

I don't think the band themselves care about all the details. They don't want the material to get out where people can hear or otherwise download it, but other than that, I don't think they really care what may get out. Management feels differently I'm sure.

I'm enjoying the Stan stories. Keep 'em coming. I'm starting to picture Stan as having a big role in a possible "Animal House 2: Stanley - Son of Bluto"...
Dean Vernon Wormer: Mr. Kroger: two C's, two D's and an F. That's a 1.2. Congratulations, Kroger. You're at the top of the Delta pledge class. Mr. Dorfman?
Flounder: Hello!
Dean Vernon Wormer: Zero point two... Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son. Mr. Hoover, president of Delta house? One point six; four C's and an F. A fine example you set! Daniel Simpson Day... HAS no grade point average. All courses incomplete.
Dean Vernon Wormer: Mr. Blu - MR. STANLEY BLUTARSKY... ZERO - POINT - ZERO.

It's not as if he sees a problem with that material live.. he's been playing it with Dave since it was written, and now with DMB.. I mean understand his role. He is a featured guitarist.. he probably signed a contract prior to material being written.. its not as if he can just back out. I mean he could quit if he really wanted to, but that's not his style. Who knows what influence he really has anyway.. i wouldn't expect him to say anything different than what he's said. If anything bad is going to be said, it's going to be said down the road after the release, tour, etc.

nice, i used the ball washing comment at somepoint yesterday. i dont get it either. from one extreme to the other. its not like the kid planted a listening device in studio and we have 24 hour stream from the studio(now that would be cool, 12 hours of listening to dave talk of snail farts, 1 hour of random noodling, and probably like 10 minutes of hard work).

02-13-2009, 11:41 AM
All I'm saying is I'd find it hard to ever see Tim associated with an album that is on the level of Stand Up.
Why do you find it hard? Tim likes playing on several of DMB's terrible songs. Smooth Rider and Old Dirt Hill have been staples at recent D&T shows. The band was still rocking out to Cornbread, Louisiana Bayou, Old Dirt Hill, Sister, and Out Of My Hands at least half of the shows of the 2008 tour. I mean, as much as I would have liked for Tim to have gone, "Dave, seriously?", that didn't happen. So lets not be assuming that Tim is some sacred holder of musical standards who is there to keep the band from writing shitty songs. Yes, Tim was there for the big 3, but correlation does not necessarily equal causation. Keep in mind: Tim was nowhere to be found for the LWS, and he was certainly there for the development of Eh Hee and Cornbread.
I'm not saying that Tim isn't a source of inspiration and a reason for Dave to write better, but people seem to think that his mere presence and praise of the album heralds the resurrection of DMB. That's reaching.

02-13-2009, 11:45 AM
^^ Looks like I just got raped, haha. Good point, good point, I also see where you're coming from. I'm just looking for reasons to be excited...can you blame me?! Like I said before, all speculations are for naught until we catch our first listen of this sexy new album.

As far as being "enlightened" or "cool", just letting you know that that joke has been around for a while that way you don't have to be such a dick when you think it's ran it's course.....because it was old YEARS ago.
Who's the one being 'a dick' in this conversation?... you. If you had a problem with what I said, then fine.. disagree... but you're the one that broke out the personal attacks by calling me a douche because you read into what I said and got something out of it that wasn't there.

I think there's a big difference between playing those songs D&T and being involved in the album creation process. Not to mention Timmy made those versions bearable to listen to.

It's just that Tim is a musician with a much different aesthetic and hearing open and honest feelings about the new album from him means a lot. He's been around the band since it's inception, he's biased but certainly not completely and it would show if he was saying things that didn't seem genuine
The fact is, he worked with Dave on 3 albums that are far and away better than the 3 albums he wasn't on. Of course it doesn't mean the record is going to be great. Nothing does until we hear it. But I'd say it's a damn good indicator

"So Tim, thanks for comin aboard for the 08 Summer Tour."
"Thanks Dave, I just wanna say though, I'd rather not play on Bayou, Smooth Rider, Old Dirt Hill....I just really think those songs aren't up to snuff and I'm really just gonna be around for the really great stuff."
That's like a catcher saying he'll only catch for the starting pitcher.

tim was not there for the writing and lack of focus for the stand up record...and neither was coffin or rashawn...and shit cavallo for that matter...i think we have a much more focused group for this record, a few more musicians who are extremely talented...and a producer who only wants the band's BEST to come out of them...so yes you are right we must wait and see, but there's no reason not to be excited...thats most of the fun of a new record, the hype and speculation...and then the great music comes to prove it was worth it (hopefully)

"This is something I have never played before but, I wanna play it because everything I have I wanna play with Tim" I believe that is what Dave said at one of the 1997 D&T shows... it is pretty close to that. He then played Hold Me Down... which morphed into Cigarette Lit (B-side with Tim)
Point being, if you don't think Tim influenced this album you are fooling yourself. I don't care if he is just a "featured guitarist". That guy and Dave are extremely close and Dave has the utmost respect for both his ideas and his playing. I guarantee in studio if Tim was like Dave I don't like this he would be like, alright, lets try this and then Tim and he would end up going somewhere even better with it. Every time Tim is in studio the albums turn out better and I think he has a lot to do with it. I think he helps focus Dave and probably helps him get his ideas into better shape.
Biggest supporting evidence - the big 3, then LWS- no Tim and it fails, Everyday Ballard was big support (mediocre), Some Devil- Solid album, Tim was there, Stand Up- kinda crappy, no Tim and Batson is Dave's semi influence.

Yeah, I can't disagree with that either.. but the problem with albums like ED and SU is that the band couldn't sit back and take a hard look at what they had created and be critical of it. I don't know if Tim can either. I believe they all feel truly good about these sessions.. so I don't really think Tim is lying. I believe you could tell if he were saying good things but didn't really believe it was good... But whether its the band, Tim, Jeff or whoever, is saying good things about the album... I won't believe its going to be good until I hear it.

I'm not doubting anybody's ability to be critical... I think DMB themselves can.. but they didn't, and were clouded by how the sessions felt.. hopefully that hasn't happened here, but I won't be convinced until I hear it.
If that can happen to DMB, it can happen to Tim, Coffin, Cavallo and anybody else. Again.. hopefully it hasn't.

OK I guys, I got through the first 10 pages of this and people were still doubting this kid....
than I fast forward and people are scrubbing his balls.... what the hell did he tell us that deserves the ball washing?
nice, i used the ball washing comment at somepoint yesterday. i dont get it either. from one extreme to the other. its not like the kid planted a listening device in studio and we have 24 hour stream from the studio(now that would be cool, 12 hours of listening to dave talk of snail farts, 1 hour of random noodling, and probably like 10 minutes of hard work).
the difference seems to be that dave actually showed up at the basketball game, proving that stan wasn't entirely full of shit. from there, speculation began that other parts of his story may also be true...

Congrats Stan! Somebody worked you into the Unencyclopedia.
http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Dave_Matthews_Band#The_Hardcore_Fans
Stan the Man The title of Greatest DMB Fan Ever is currently held by Stan the Man. Stan received his title in early 2009, after a daring operation in which he infiltrated the band's recording sessions for the upcoming release, What New Album. On the night of February 8th, Stan arrived at the band's recording studio, located in a top-secret compound guarded by CIA paramilitaries. Stan successfully evaded the guards, defeated a mountain lion that Cavallo used to guard the inner perimeter, and was able to outsmart a sphinx that blocked the entrance to the control room. There, he pushed the record button, grabbed Dave's guitar, and played Crazy-Easy, in the hopes that it would make it as the album's first single. He then departed, leaving no trace of his presence other than some tickets to a Hornets game.

It's just an old redirect that shouldn't be there anymore. It's the entry point from the previous version of the site before the current one. Websites often are set up that way so that you don't just get a generic 404 error page when you enter a nonexistent page on their domain. Try clicking on this link.

And if you try any other word starting with "test", you are redirected to the current website.
Very weird...

Is this a proper recap?
Stan the Man stalked dave and got a picture. He used daddy's connection to get inside the studio and took the famous camera pic, which has mostly been granted legit. He claimed to see a tracklist with skworm and garden horse on it. He claimed to talk to Cavallo who told him the album is all new stuff, there's an EP of non-releases, and the album was being pushed to June. He claimed to have been at last week's hornet's game and retracked his album push-back statement (cavallo might have been referring to the EP). He talked to Dave who said the album is a live-recording, (whole band playing in the studio at the same time). He went up to UGA to get some poon with his new found fame.

As far as I'm concerned, unless "Stan the Man" gives us information on what I'm asking for, he's not "Stan the Man" he's just damn Stan who gave us barely anything we didn't already know.

So for now, he's just merely, "Stan... the BOY who gave us nothing!"
Man up, STAN... We need some info. w/substance!!! Get to work!

look, some might say i'm not a dmb fan b/c of my low post #. others might say i'm not a dmb fan since i'm not impressed by stan (no offense to you personnaly, comrade. i envy the fact that you were in the studio). but, wtfahk!?!?!?! why lick the dude's nads when all he did was use hid dad's connections to get into the studio?!?! let's face it, we really didn't get any info from him, so wtfahk is he a deity around these boards? i come here to find out about rumors/facts/hopes/etc. about dmb, not about some cat that found his way into the studio but doesn't have any concrete info. maybe i'm a few posts behind, but he didn't give us shit. he seems like a good kid that people here sharted on b/c they didn't want to believe him. this doesn't mean he is a) completely believable; and b) the One to deliver us a track listing of what is to come. seems like a cool cat, but he didn't give us dookie (shout out to cavallo!)
sorry for the pathetic masterbatory d-bags that think i don't have sense of humor when it comes to this stuff. stan has connections which is great, but the way a lot of people are either smoking his pole or mocking him is stoooooooooooopid. let us, as a community believe in the dreams of our fathers and, with the audacity of hope, take responsibility for our dmb and force them to play the myuzac we like.

Agree 100% :thumbsup

I told you those songs were going to be on the EP. The album is all NEW songs.

Cavallo called my Dad yesterday, because they want to go to the Orlando game Wed. While he was on the phone my Dad asked him if I could help Rob, and the guys out in the studio. Rob told my Dad that they had a full crew, but he was going to check and see if I could help them out. The next time he and my Dad talk he is going to let my Dad know.

That would be a sweet opportunity if you get to.
Steal something is my advice. Or bring a spy camera and take some pictures of tracklistings, etc.

you contradict yourself. you come here for rumors, but complain about a someone telling us about his trip to the studio and giving us new rumors (actually worth following-up), ie Garden Horse, June release, and the EP.
Personally, I love hearing about everyone's personal stories about their brush with DMB. I'm sick to death of polls debating SU and Everyday. Or Studio Stone v 41. Stan is a fresh breath of air, especially in this studio blackout.
I just think you're being a bit too serious. And a bit too ridiculous. I mean, he was in the studio, but don't expect him to know every detail about the album. Don't expect him to memorize the harmonies off the sheet music to record at home and relay to us. Come on.
If you just read the bullet points i can see why you're a bit confused. For those of us who were with the thread from the beginning, it was a blast. People made fun of stan, but he always fought back. He posted pics, we debated their authenticity. We kept pushing for more details, but Stan was hesitant (rightfully so, if he had sensitive information). By the end of the night, he gave us Garden Horse to think about. We all laughed. It was absurd. It was fun. If he was bullshitting, then he was taking it all the way. Stan kept going and said Dave would be court side at the Hornets-Celtics game. Sure enough. There Dave was, court side. Interviewed on TV and Getty Images to prove it. Forget about the information, we were having a laugh. We hijacked the Hornets chat room. It was hysterical. Stan persevered.
So when you complain about Stan, and the lack of information. I don't know what to say. You're missing the point.
Sorry, I guess you had to be here.
But please, relax and spare us from another lame (shout out to cavallo!)

No. Don't do this. If you get this opportunity that means that the band is assuming that there exists a certain level of trust by bringing you in. Fuck, I would not even go there worrying about "What can I bring back to AM.org?"

I told you those songs were going to be on the EP. The album is all NEW songs.
But I keep hearing people say that an EP is really unlikely. Why would they do an EP?
More so, if it's all new songs, what's with them?
