I read somewhere....dont remember where, wish I did. that the april 14th date for the album got messed up with the single release date. in that the release date has always been june 2nd and april 14th is the single date. also heard that radio stations cant play the single till april 14th.

Yeah but the website originally gave the 4/14 date for the album. Thats how they promoted the spring tour. I doubt the webmasters AND the band themselves were mixed up.

I can't believe I'm actually posting in this thread again, but if you think about it, that would be about the right time. The initial album date was 4/14, and radio stations were being told the single would come 2/23, about 7 weeks ahead of the album. Well, 4/14 is exactly 7 weeks before 6/2.

American Baby came out approx on March 14th of 2005. The album came out May 10th. Based on that, I'd say April has a really good chance of us hearing the first single. On April 7th we got a full track listing. I'm sure things won't be exact to the way they did Stand Up but its a good template to follow.

i went back to listen to stand up last week for the first time since the initial buzz when it came out. that album really is comically bad. i couldn't even make it through a couple songs. even the songs i thought i liked on it, or are good live.... god.... hello again (the full-length version) wasn't as bad as i remembered, but does seem to drag on after awhile with no focus. but i agree with you. i was thinking while listening to american baby... if i ignore the lyrics, this song is actually really good sounding. maybe not dmb-sounding, but pleasant nonetheless. oh well....

it was AB as said, and i remember it getting mixed reviews. most were a "this is probably a middle of the road song for the album, that ending jam gives a lot of hope for this album". as you know now, that didn't really pan out at all.

Someone in here said they ran into him and he said they probably could have gotten it out on time but didn't want to rush it. Not writing them off. Just saying they should play one or two all-new songs. If Shotgun, Crazy-Easy, and the lot are on the next album then by all means they should play those as well. I'm just saying if the whole album, or the majority of it, is entirely new material (like 13 songs) then they should play at least two completely all-new songs before the album comes out...if not two or three more.

i don't think that at all. they can play whatever they want. i just think it's common sense not to blow your load prematurely. this is evidenced every summer when they spread out the gems that pop up over the tour.

I can see what you're saying, but most of the time, I feel that live cuts are not comparable to the studio cuts.

Studio cuts are usually perfection (well, stand up aside). It's hard to match perfection night in and night out on the road.

I agree crash into me is better on the album. Good call. Im not saying there arent better album songs, but most are better live. I hate the entire stand up album, but i think ABI and YMDT are songs I dont mind hearing at a concert. Imagine hearing Hello Again live and then the album version later. Oh wait that happened and it SUCKED (though I blame Batson mostly).

Yeah, exactly. It's just annoying to see people being pissy towards this guy when he never did anything but give us information. I think we're all just getting antsy (Yes, pun intended) for some information on the CD and to hear some of it.

But apparently you care what I think because you chose to respond to my post. And are you trying to insinuate I have no life? I would tend to label the guy who stalks Dave outside the studio waiting to get a picture, and then runs home begging his daddy with a job to offer some tickets so he can meet Dave again as the guy with little or no life. But I guess that is just me.

By the way...many people on this site will sell you face value tickets without you having to give really meaningless and vague info that you can misconstrue at any point to make it seem as if you were right all along.

I appreciate him coming here and telling us what he experienced. But he has said some stuff in this thread that he really didnt need to say, so while he feels attacked, hes quick to attack right back and say bad stuff. And he acts like he has become an insider, its cool that when he was there they were talking about doing an EP, that doesnt mean its still going to happen though, but he jumps all over anyone who says it wont. And the story changes ever so slightly to try and fit informatin that we all know(example, he said album pushed to june, then someone said it would be april still, so then he modified the story back to april, and now its back at june again along with the album).
So thank you stan for coming here and letting us know what you experienced, but this thread has gotten out of hand from him and the people attacking him.

First of all I am not a stalker. I didn't go down to the studio to stalk Dave. I'm a huge DMB fan like everyone on this sight. They were recording an Album in my home town! I really wanted to just check out the studio, but when I went down there Dave happened to be outside! I had time to kill in before my Basketball game that night. I am a normal high school kid. I go out on the weekend, hang out with my friends (most of them hate Dave). Im sure some of you are in the same boat. Another thing was my Dad invited Rob to the game, and Dave came. I didn't go home and have my Dad invite him to a game. It wasn't liek a personal invitation. He didn't take in the game with me and my Dad. It was great publicity. My Dad sat Dave on the court next to our Owner. I respond to your comments, because you go from wanting info to bashing me. It is like you get some sort of joy from talking shit on these forums. It is fine. It just discourages me, and others who recieve info we crave for from posting on this site. I hope you all believe that I am genuine in my posts, and the info I have given. I wouldn't still be around here if I was lying to you. It would serve you and I both no purpose. The song titles I have told everyone were honest to god songs Rob showed me. It was incredible. I wouldn't waste my time lying to everyone in here. That would be ridiculous. Also for what it's worth I saw the songsheet for Skworm, like I said before. Being that it was on the songsheet I am confident it will be on the album. My point is that I wouldn't come on here and tell you info that I believe won't come true. The info is cool....but in any recording process bands lay down 10-20-30 tracks and then choose a select several to "finish" and from those finished tracks, they make the album. I wouldn't dispute what you saw, but it is very possible that it will not make the album. Could have easily gotten cut when they made it to the mixing stage in LA.

Either way, it was super cool that you got to go to the Studio. Most would dream of an opportunity like that.
