I don't know if he's telling the truth or not, I just wanted to make sure everyone is aware of how easy it is to manipulate images. The pics he posted, however, are either legit, or a very good photoshop job. I'm not a forensics expert, but there aren't any jarring details that scream his pics are fake. Sure, some of the lighting is weird, but the edges are nearly flawless.

the lighting seems right to me - and the distortion is normal - i'm sure it was a point and shoot - but there is distortion around all of the items in the picture where there is change in the light.....I still think its way legit -

The jpeg distortion comes from compression (necessary to make a file less than 78.1KB) and is all over the image -- the same around Carter's kit as around the kid and the guitar. And the lighting is pretty good.

There are two points that support the photoshop claim -- under his left arm right where the dark line of the doorframe is, and the inside of his right leg.

The two pics are, by the way, different. The angle is slightly different. The very end of the guitar is fully in the doorway in the first and not in the second -- though if it is photoshopped, that's easy enough to do.

As for the info, all I know for sure is this: If the info is legit and you leak a tracklist to us, your dad will be in some shit.

The pictures seem a little too real to be fake. I don't know what it is but my gut wants me to believe that. I don't know where he would have gotten that background for photoshopping. Also, that martin looks like Tim's D-35 but I'm a drum guy and not a guitar guy so I could be wrong. The Info seems pretty skewed, and there is no reason Cavallo couldn't have been screwing with him. Yes, I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if Dave, or someone in the band told Rob off hand about the importance of this new album. I mean it's pretty obvious, at least to me, that some of the members of DMB, (Roi included before his untimely death), were not happy with Stand Up. That being said, I think, and will believe until my dying day, or if this album is complete shit, that considering the professionalism of all these guys, that they want to work their asses off on this new album. Therefore, they are going to work hard, and because of that, they are going to keep a lid on all of it.

Furthermore, I think enough of Rob that he wouldn't just throw around the band's work to some kid and his dad because of whatever reason. He's made some pretty damn quality albums in the past, and he should see his opportunity with DMB to make an album that will blow his other work out of the water. That being said, it would be tremendously insulting and unprofessional to all parties if this thing really did happen.

I don't, because I understand from growing up with my father what is appropriate to share and what isn't. I would NEVER put him in a position where his journalistic integrity was questioned, or put myself in a position where my ability to respect needs for confidentiality could be viewed as compromised.

So...I'll say this as nicely as possible to the people at the center of this rumor -- if your father really does work for the New Orleans Hornets, I can't believe he didn't drill ideas like this into your skull at an earlier age. I'm certain this issue has come before with information about the team. In fact, I think it's almost impossible that you wouldn't have more sense than to post things like this online if that's the background you're coming from.

Chances is are.. IMO.. that there is some truth to his story which he keeps trying to go back to ex. "dude how can you not believe my story??? Look at the picture!!!", and about how his dad works for the hornets.. but as for the truthfulness of his entire story i don't believe it for a second.

Once he has all the masters, it's not exactly a huge undertaking to get a final master done. Working full days, it could be maybe 2 weeks. That would mean they'd have an entire month and change to print/press and ship.

From information we've gotten from the band and other people who are trusted, we know that Fonz is done as of this week, Carter is most likely done, the horns are more than likely done, and Tim is done. It wouldn't be a stretch to assume Boyd is done, as his stuff isn't exactly something that needs to be labored over, unless Cavallo has decided to have him multitrack entire orchestra arrangements. :lol

So that leaves Dave. Who claims that he will only be there through the end (or maybe even not that long) of Mardi Gras. Meaning this album will, from a production standpoint, be done as of Feb. 24th, but more likely earlier than that. Cavallo has been there all along, and can do most of his production in-progress. Once he has all the masters, it's not exactly a huge undertaking to get a final master done. Working full days, it could be maybe 2 weeks. That would mean they'd have an entire month and change to print/press and ship.

Printing can be a relatively short process.

Mixing depends primarily on the producer and the band. You can mix a song in a day, but usually there will be multiple mixes of each song, and the band/producer will choose which one they like best, which is what can take some time.

So if they know what they want the songs to sound like, and Cavallo has been doing the footwork now, then the mixing/mastering stage shouldn't take too long. Definitely not another 2 months.

As far as the printing of CDs, consider how long it takes to burn a bootleg CD. Minutes. With commercial equipment designed for that process, it doesn't take more than a few weeks.

it was just a hypothetical lets say dave doesnt finish his lyrics and then a few other small things dont get completed for another month. Then that leaves one more month for mixing and making the CDs. Im not saying thats what the situation is but its definitly possible.
Dave's been writing lyrics since the South America tour. Plus he spent nearly all of December alone pulling all-nighters in the Seattle studio. He hasn't exactly been lazy about this.

No. He's assumed it's been delayed since basically the start. Other people, who we have gotten information from for a long time, just as good in quality, don't agree with his opinion.

My point is, if RCA or Coran or the band or someone high in the base wants to be able to say they have a platinum record, which many music execs do, they can do so by RIAA standards simply by printing and shipping a million discs. If they sell 1 of those million, they still have a platinum record through RIAA. I doubt they will do this, but it is still a very real possibility. That was my only point, I wasn't really refuting what you were saying, but bringing up a possibility that sort of does.

Yeah, it doesn't seem as if they would need the extra 2 months at the rate they're going (at least, according to the info that we know right now).

The only reason a part of me wants this thread to be true is because of the EP idea - the ultimate way of having our cake and eating it too. An album with all new material, but also studio versions of tracks some of us have grown to love over the past couple years (I at the very least want a studio Shotgun...and some of the others would be nice as well). That sounds pretty ideal to me. But we'll see; all signs outside of this thread point to the album being released on time.

Rob was a down to earth guy, and didn't even act like it was a big deal when he showed me the track names. I have no reason to lie to you. I have a life. Just so you know, they are going to say no to you sitting in there. It isn't an open house. Sessions are private for a reason, to focus on making music. Outside distractions like yourself will definitely not be permitted.
