BRAND NEW revelations on 2009 album

I am not going to reveal my source, but my friend, a huge dave fan who lives in New Orleans and whose dad knows Rob Cavallo, visited the Piety Studios today and talked with Rob about the upcoming album and saw track listings. This is what my source told me:

good news: the LP album itself will be ALL entirely-new songs that DMB has NEVER played before live.

and concerning the songs he's played live but not released on a studio album (shotgun, cornbread, idea of you, sister), they have been or will be made into studio productions and will be packaged in an EP that will be released with the aforementioned LP.

Also, my friend saw a sheet of music titled 'skworm,' so that can surely confirm dave's (sometimes bizarre) twittering

bad news: Rob told my friend the album probably won't be released until June...

Think or say what you will, but I'm confident that this is all true. so you can mark my words and hold me to it.

I am calling shananigans on this... I don't think they would have announced a specific release date unless they really did know they could have it done by then. They would have just said "this spring" or "this summer" if they really didn't think they could get it done. Like last year, they thought for sure they would get it out but never announced an actual date because deep down they weren't sure, this time they are and it will be out 4/14. Well to get logical for a moment, they're only playing 1 night at MSG because of the Knicks schedule. Otherwise I've no doubt they'd be there for 2 nights. And since it's being billed as the album release party, of course it will be done on time.

It's been what...3-4 years since we have seen anything out of the studio? They have had plenty of time and opportunity to put together a quality album and yet, we have nothing. I have this sinking feeling that come April/June/2010 (whenever they manage to get something out) we are just going to have Stand Up part 2.

But they did give us a date for a reason. It wasn't too long ago that the release date came out. So, I'd be shocked that they give us the release date and then a month later say, oh nevermind we're going to push it back 3 months. If it gets pushed back a week or something I wouldn't be too surprised, it happens all the time, especially with DMB's albums. But, like I said, to push an album back 3 months after giving an initial date a month before...doesn't seem likely. Plus, if the release date is in July then you would think they would make an announcement as soon as possible not to piss off fans who are eagerly anticipating it to come in April.

This is what is making me laugh the most. The fucking nerd had to wait outside until Dave came out of the studio to meet him. Now he is in the studio getting great info!!! He probably met Dave told his Dad who paid the band and Cavallo a ton so he could visit their studio while everyone was gone at lunch and say he was there. Rob Cavallo recently told Johnny Rzeznik's dog who's a cousin of my dentist the following groundbreaking stuff about packing and release date etc.

the album (Bearded Glory Pt 1: Hike up your Skworm a little more) will be wrapped in a fake Santa Clause beard. It will be released 2020 but Cavallo said it will be epic and totally worth the time. It will feature both BTCS on Vinyl as well as an EP with studio versions of ________ (insert song here) as well as a signed picture of Boyd eating Icecream.

It will be totally be based around Crater and the release date is due to the effort to get Tinsley tuned as well as getting Matthews to stop twittering.

Now you can doubt my sources and flame me but that's some crispy inside info.

There is too much of the 4/14 date injected into the campaign right now for it to be pushed back in a realistic business sense. There is a huge difference between the 08 tour descriptions (fans will hear new songs from their upcoming studio sessions)

You move it back you alienate the fans
the ticket companies who advertised it that way (fuckinevilpricks)
and all the radio contests, ads, and discussion that has and will be going on.

I love the people who are saying that the EP/LP makes sense, but that there's NO WAY the release date will be pushed back. Of course we want to believe the good stuff and prove the bad stuff wrong.

As much as I hope the album is released on 4/14, if I've waited for this long for a new album, I think I can wait two more months. It seems like the guys have been working really hard on this, and there's a lot of emotion involved, and if I have to spend 60 more days without it I can survive. The spring tour starts on 4/14 no matter what, and we will likely be hearing a lot of the new songs, so I'm good either way. It might be really interesting to hear the new songs live before we hear them on a CD. But there is still a lot pointing towards the album being released as scheduled. Dave mentioned on his twitter that he was in NYC yesterday for meetings, that's a good sign for forward movement.

Yes, gemma over at tdc. she has said on several occasions that things are going well and they are taking weekends off and such because they arent in a rush. shes been accurate on things before, and actually talks to tim. so who knows at this point.

I think all of us appreciate inside info, and our skepticism is nothing against you or your friend. It's just that the story you gave, which could be true (i'm not entirely doubting you) had a lot of convenient facts in it and some conflicting information from the story your friend gave in DMBc. Coming from the fanbase, I know we don't want to see the album pushed back 2 months, so part of our doubt is probably due to the fact that we really don't want to see that happen. As for the EP/LP, I think all of us would want to see that.

If your friend can actually give confirmation with a story that realistically ties up both of your guys' accounts, then you might find all of us a little more trusting. thanks man

My assumption is that some of the songs will be road tested, and then played in the Summer. As if all of what he was doing wasn't enough, he grabbed a yellow pad, and showed it to me. They don't look like that.

Plus, if you zoom in a bit it's pretty easy to see that you photoshopped that shit. Clear distortion around the edges of you and the guitar the whole way around, especially in the difficult spots where the tuning pegs are.

Not to mention the fact that the lighting is way off. You can tell that perhaps you thought to accommodate for such a critique, but a fakes a fake.

That being said, until I hear somthing from the upcoming album I will remain very skeptical that it will be any better than the crap we were fed that is 'Stand Up' and the (mediocre at best) songs they have debuted since then. I never said anything about the quality of the music, just the song title. That being said, until I hear somthing from the upcoming album I will remain very skeptical that it will be any better than the crap we were fed that is 'Stand Up' and the (mediocre at best) songs they have debuted since then. the lighting seems right to me - and the distortion is normal - i'm sure it was a point and shoot - but there is distortion around all of the items in the picture where there is change in the light.....I still think its way legit -

edit: I was using photoshop CS3 and very high zoom to make this analysis....
