Recorded some videos this weekend when I was home. I uploaded Ants Marching to YouTube. I've got some others too, DIDO I think and another one, I just need to sync up the audio track to it before I upload those.
Video quality isn't great but the audio isn't too bad since I ran it through my mixer rather than using the camera's mic.
I'm not overly happy with my playing here, but I've been meaning to post stuff, so here goes nothin'.

I'll upload the other stuff shortly.
PS: No, I can't play Carter's final lick cleanly enough to post it online yet, so I didn't. ;)

Nice work...
Watch the clarity of your lick right in the opening phrase. Seemed hesitant and slightly askew. If you're gonna do it, go for it!
Your sextuplet fills...were you playing RRL RRL? Seemed as if you were playing some sticking that wasn't straight. I'd recommend playing it straight for the simple fact that evenness in the hands will promote less tension.

Thank you for the feedback. :thumbsup
Yeah, I was playing RRL. My singles are not where I'd like to have them at this point. But I'm definitely working on getting them up to speed.

Yeah, the continued execution of RRLRRL, while seeming easy, will build up tension in the muscles and when you get out of a fill that tension will be remaining until it dissipates.
Go on drummerworld and look for the "Mike Mangini Workout". I'm going to try it and it should be interesting.

Very nice. I am not a drummer, but did notice one thing missing. No bubble gum :)
I really did enjoy it. I hope you are playing with good musicians.

I have not seen a lot of ants marching Drum covers, but out of the ones i have seen this is definately the best one, and best sounding one for that matter.
What kind of set is that? it looks like a sonar but i cant tell; with Evans heads? but more importantly what kind of snare do you have?

Thanks for the kind words.
It's a DW. I paid $2600 for the shells - 8", 10", 12", 14", 16" toms and 22" bass. Brand new it runs around $4000 but I got it used from Sam Ash...spectacular condition though. It had the stock heads on it when I bought it and they barely looked played at all. I thought it was a pretty good find.
Evans G2s on all the toms, the snare actually has a Remo Ambassador, just because I love how it sounds. The snare is a steel Ludwig. Came with my original Pearl Export kit, it's probably 20 years old.

How's those G2s working out? When I bought my new set this summer, I bought some EC2s, but they haven't been too great for me. I've got some G2s on the way right now and I'm hoping they sound better on my short stacks.

I love the G2s. I just find that I get a much warmer, brighter tone out of them than I do most other heads.

EC2S ARE horrible! It says on teh box that the metal strip has slots in it to avoid sounded choked, but I think they sounded more choked than ever, also metallic overtone to them. I wrote to Evans to tell them just how awful I thought these heads were and they sent me a set of G2s for free!

Very Nice job, AJGdrums. Ants Marching is one of my favorite songs to play on the drums.
