The 14th fret on my acoustic wont ring when i play there. I looked it up and I think the correct diagnosis is the "14th fret hump."

Is this a truss rod ordeal or is there a way i can fix it on my own..?

I don't think there's much you can do to be honest.

Take it in to a luthier. They might be able to adjust the truss rod (wouldn't recommend doing it yourself) or he might have to put some work into all the frets.

I just had to have that done on my guitar because it got too dry and I didn't have a humidifier. It cost about $80 but it played perfect after that.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a humidity issue. I don't think a truss rod adjustment will do much for it. Get it to a proper humidity first, then take it to a luthier. He may be able to compensate for it by filing some frets or something.

I think i need the frets fixed...i noticed that when i play a note on the 14th fret..the string also touches the 15th fret...

i need the 15th lowered..i think...

the 15th also looks like it kinda protruded...im guessing thats a humidity issue becuase the wood may have impacted the fret becuase it wasnt properly humidified...idk..

but i think the 15th fret is def. the issue..i need it fixed.. any tips? i heard i could give it a tap with a wood block or file it with a nail filer...

These sound like absolutely horrific ideas.

Spend the money, get it fixed. Get a humidifier while you're at it. At the very least, get something like this:

Yeah..i prolly should get it fixed by a professional, but this is my first guitar..its crappy, beat up, but still my baby....I don't really what to spend more than I need, especially because I'm gonna get a new one in the summer...

The guitar sounds great..its just that 14th fret...

This is kind of a project guitar, in a way. I installed my own pickups and learned everything I know with this guitar. I'm kinda just looking for a way I could fix it.

When I can devote a week to not playing the guitar, I think I'm gonna give this a try...
