I'm looking for some cheap recording software, that is decent quality and easy to use. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've looked at some stuff at best buy that looks decent, anyone ever used any of the software they sell there?

M-Audio. It's about $100. User friendly and you can do a lot with it. Musiciansfriend.com has it. So, you can go read up on it.

this may be a dumb question but can you use Audacity w/ M-Audio?

It doesn't get much cheaper than free (www.reaper.fm).

Also, Reaper is being considered right now as one of the top flight DAWs available, free or no. Definitely check it out.

haha ok thanks, Bohrman

I'm not at home so I can't look at the box and stuff but the more I think about it the more I really do think you can use Audacity with M-Audio. I want to say that M-Audio uses Audacity for it's effects and recording stuff. Like I said, I'm not exactly sure and maybe someone could clarify this for me, but I am beginning to think that you most certainly can.

ok cool. it'll prob be a bit before i buy but i've been looking at stuff like that cuz it's not really the best quality using just a cheap computer mic to record what i'm doing right now. thanks for the info and if it doesn't let u use it, i'll find something haha

You sure about that? They may ask you politely to pay for it (as I have), but in the "real world," "uncrippling shareware" = free.
