I could use some help. I thought about posting this question about two weeks ago but decided that I could figure it out on my own. I guess I can't.

I seemed to have lost my way......I was foollin' around with the different media players on my computer and tweaking the EQ sound. Now I'm all discombobulated. I "reset" all the EQs but it still sounds funny to me. :BANGWhat would be the recommended EQ settings for the most common of FLAC shows?

I know that all shows/tapers are different but thought that there may be a "trick" that I'm not aware of.

I know this may not really answer your question, but there's more to it than just eq'ing for the shows. It depends on what you're playing it through (headphones, high end sound system, computer speakers, etc...). Also it depends on what the taper used to record the show with, where they were. I've heard shows that are close to mix position that sound great, then others where they are close to the subs, so the recording is really bass heavy. Like I said, lots of factors involved.

You could eq it sounding great through your computer speakers, but then it might sound like crap when put through a real nice system. There are lots of factors involved. This is all assuming you're just using the graphic eq through itunes or whatever.

If you're talking about eq'ing the actual files in a editing program like audacity, logic or pro tools or whatnot, then your best bet is to A/B it. Import a similar live track that's been professionally released (Central Park, Gorge) then switch back and forth and try and get your file to sound as close to the released version as possible. It won't be exact but you can get it sounding pretty close.

Hope that helps!
