I have a new DMB cover I posted, Some Devil: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua37xpIURgc
I experimented with color this time (hence why I call it Blue Metal) and effects on both vocals and guitar.
I tried to get a more baritone sound out my Gibson, so I used my POG (Polyphonic Octave Generator). I put up the dry signal and sub-octave to give it a lower sound, then I over drove it on the POG to get the rough distortion while using my POD Pro set to a Fender Twin amp setting.
I know I missed a couple notes on the vocals, but I liked the performance of this take the most.
. . oh yeah, I forgot!
:violent Sun Drop, drink it, or squirrels will piss in your milk. :violent

Well, what did you think?
I thought it was really good.I wish I could sing my high notes clear enough to play something like that. You make it look effortless.
What is that intro...is that something of your own...or does DMB do that and I've just never paid attention to it?
Also what is your setup?I just got my digital camera and its built in mic...so I don't get clear recordings....I think I have the equipment...but I'm not sure about the setup...or what program to use to record the camera in sync with the line input.I'm still a rookie at this.
Any who...great sounds from your channel...looking forward to more.

Thanks, I actually was worried about the falsettos on that take. I've always been able to do falsettos my whole life, even before I really started singing a lot. I always would use them to make funny voices when I was a kid. Also, almost 10 years of constant playing and singing (and my Mom telling me when I was flat throughout those 10 years) helped ;) .
The intro actually is Round And Round, a little ditty Dave wrote a year or two ago. There is a little bit more to it, but I just played the main part.
My Setup is one of two things . . .
For Acoustics:
Acoustic Guitar -> Fishman Aura -> any effects -> MXR Smart Gate (used when needed to get rid of noise) -> Eurorack Mixer -> Line In on the computer -> Cool Edit Pro 2.0 (e-mail me if you want it).
For my Electrics:
Electric Guitar -> any effects (this time you heard me going through my Electroharmonix P.O.G. using the sub octave blending with dry signal to get that Baritone sound) -> MXR Smart Gate (again for noise and to block my over-driven electric sound when I have it going through my Little Big Muff Pi) -> Line 6 Pod Pro (I used a Fender Amp mod with some room reverb) -> Eurorack Mixer -> Line In on the computer -> Cool Edit Pro 2.0
Then for Vocal Mic, I just run it through the mixer as well. The chorus effect on everything was done in Cool Edit Pro at the last minute.
Now, I use a webcam (and I have to put a lamp in front of me to get the right amount of light), and record the video in Windows Movie Maker. However, I don't use the audio from the recording in it (Windows Movie Maker doesn't like loud sounds). While recording the video, Cool Edit Pro records the audio. Then I sync of the audio to the video's crappy audio, and get rid of the video audio. I splice the video right, and add effects if I want to. If I want more effects, I enter into Adobe Premier and add and save it from there.
It's quite a bit more steps than just recording and saving, but you get better quality. You can easily buy a low cost simple mixer, and use that. I prefer to have a separate mixer, so you can manually adjust everything.
ya bro i watched it. very nice.
all i would say is that round and round might be played to fast. other than that i cant think of any criticism. well done

I enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't care for was in the chorus the "you said always" section. Your "always" sounds to rough and almost out of place if compared to the sweet, upper register notes you sing beforehand. It turns me off from what is otherwise an enjoyable piece.

By the way, nice job. I wish I could sing that song like that. Do you play it in the same key, just transposed for a standard electric?

Thanks Kyvek
And Cool Edit Pro is a multi-track recorder that can be used by beginners and experts. You can add tons of very versatile effects, mix, splice, adjust EQ, and tons more that I have never even touched! I have a copy of it. If you PM me, I can give you it.
