Tonights set looks semi-bland and may not appeal to a lot of fans, and if I was sitting at home I'd just think "eh, decent set, nothing special, I dont think I'm gonna download this", but I would suggest to ya'll otherwise...At least give some of the versions of these songs a listen...Tonights performances were great, and the show carried a lot of energy from the stage to the crowd

Funny the Way It Is: White curtains were up with 2 images of the album art being shown through them...Standard version of the song, but the band did not miss a beat and the crowd ate it up...Fun opener

Squirm: I love this song and was glad to see it...Dave's voice was noticeably spot on by this point with the yells and semi-falsettos that come with this song...Solid performance and a lot of people seemed to enjoy it (I was in the lawn so this surprised me)

Why I Am: Wasn't too thrilled to see 3 BWGK songs open the show, but damn this version was tight and I love this song...Still here dancin with the GrooGrux King!!

You Might Die Trying: You may not believe me, or think I'm biased because I was there, and maybe so, but i cant fucking wait to hear the tape of this version...This one kicked ass and left everyone around me pumped and stunned...Great version of a decent song

Crash: Standard...Dave played it for a friend apparently...Always fun and a crowd pleaser

Seven: One of my personal favorites from the new album...Loved this one...Dave was really into it and nailed every note, as was the rest of the band...The crowd loved it and the band fed off the crowds energy as well...Fun song

Lying in the Hands of God: Beautiful song, but took some of the crowds energy...Until the jam...Coffin tore the hell out of this one and the band and crowd loved it...The end to this song has become something to look forward to at a show...Definitely a great version

Lie in Our Graves: Finally an old school song...8th song and we have already seen 5 BWGK songs and only 1 written pre-2005...I digress...This version was, for a lack of better words, BANGIN...Boy d went nuts (as usual), but definitely enjoyed himself while doing it...He lost his glasses, danced circles around Fonz, and got his glasses back from Dave (who had been wearing them haha)...perfect transition into >>

Shake Me Like a Monkey: Great song...amazing energy and a lot of fun...The crowd loved it and so did the band...They seemed to be having a tremendous time up there

Solsbury Hill: Surprised to see it...Thought it might be one and done for that song...Much more polished than the other night, everyone sounded great and they changed the outro a little I think

Shotgun: I love this song, but I havent enjoyed recent versions of it because I felt that it was sloppy and Dave screamed too much and in unnecessary places...This version brought back my infatuation with this song...The band was tight, didn't miss a beat, and Dave actually sang words and had some decent lyrics during the chorus...His screams were very passionate and built up...They were placed perfectly and I was very impressed

Crush: Love it, love it, love it...One of my favorites of all-time...Jeff and Tim duel was of course amazing...Tim was jamming so hard he fell to his knees, and Coffin followed him..They were both on their knees wailing and jamming...Unreal energy at this point

Alligator Pie: the band were doing some talking right before this and dave had switched from the drop d to another acoustic, then they decided to switch to the resonator...great live song, good energy and crowd seemed into it...enjoyable live

You & Me: ehh....its ok...standard version, just not my favorite song...great performance, and i still enjoyed singing along

Jimi Thing: Idk why but everytime this starts at a show I'm at I am kind of disappointed and not very excited, but damn it if it didn't kick my ass tonight...The jams were great and Dave's scat was ridiculous...He was literally pulling on his throat and hitting himself in the throat fucking around and then proceeded to make some of the most hilarious/unreal noises...sexy mothafucka shakin that ass!!

Grey Street: Great song, great version...I was not ready for the set to end...it was 1020?????

Gravedigger: I was kind of disappointed to see the entire band come out at this point because I figured that probably would kill the chances of a 3 song encore....Standard version, love the song...I was hoping for another 5 min or so song after this, but you can never go wrong with

Two Step: just absolutely ridiculous...Song truly gets better with age haha...Every Two Step I've seen has been the best...It just plain and simple rocks...Love this damn song to death and everyone tore it up...I was hoping Ants or something would close after this because they still had at least 10 minutes...Strange that they would play such a short set, but it was a hell of a night and I can't wait for Bristow!! :leroi

solid reveiw:thumbsupyou're right that the set may be a little lackluster, but there's no doubt performance wise the band is on top of their game....that run from Seven to Alligator pie is just nasty.

Good review, and glad you enjoyed yourself. You're right, that setlist doesn't look very good. I saw it a little while ago and actually thought it was the most lackluster set of the summer. It's not one for the permanent collection, but I'm sure it was fun to be there. 6 days and counting until WPB!!!

hey - First show at VB last night - but I got stuck in traffic all the way from DC and missed everything before Crush ! GRRRR I thought Crush, the scat in Jimi and Two Step were still worth it though, and the Band seemed pretty pumped.

Question: is there anywhere I could download and listen to the show, I'm curious to hear what I missed ...
thanks, Dave

Mrs. Rogue and I agreed...the energy last night from the band was intense even though the paper setlist was just "good." Weird place...you could've walked up to the ticket window 30 minutes before the show and scored tix...the crowd was laid back "beach folk" and groovin' but not nearly as into it as the crowd tonight at Nissan. Worlds apart, IMO. I will say that Va Beach is among the most underrated venues I've been to...great ampitheater, loudest and crispest sound we've heard in 8 shows this year. I don't know what's up with the weird crowd though. Even the parking lot didn't seem to get nearly full before we went in to see the opener around 7:00.

The lady of the night in training was in section 203 near row m. Poor guy had to take it down. Technically she was wearing clothes...
