Try holiday inn, dunno if there's one near by but it's like a 15 walk from he train station to the Apollo.
Inside is 'small' Bout 3500 cApacity. There's a barrier mid way back and the floor slopes the whole way to give you a better chance of seein the stage.

Manchester Apollo is a really 'old-style' traditional venue with stalls and a balcony. For DMB, they are taking the seating out of the stalls area which is great. Dave and Tim played there with the seats in couple of years back. The acoustics are excellent. If you are thinking of which gig to choose from in the UK, then I think this one is the best in terms of venue and atmosphere it can create! All the other gigs seem to be of the 'arena' type (yuk!!). I went with a seat, this was i can focus on hanging out before hand, and not worry about finding my seat during the set. I also booked the manchester hotel (it says 10 minute walk to apollo)

I just purchased my tickets. A friend and I were thinking about flying from Florida over to England to see a friend of ours for our spring break anyways and seeing DMB playing during the same time just sealed the deal for us. Best way to get from London to Manchester? Never been overseas so I'm gonna need some help here. :)

The train is really expensive about £65 one way and for that you would have to book way in advance. The coach (National Express - as Nathan said) is about £25 one way and will drop you off at Chorlton Street Station about a 15 minute walk to the Apollo.

If you book early enough through the funfares promotion, you can get a bus for 5 pounds, which is like 8 dollars. It's too early to book a funfare for March, but by the end of the month the dates should come up. Any word on cheap hostels/hotels? I'm probably going to need one in London and Manchester

There is a Premier Lodge just off the Mancunian Way which is doing the £29 a night deal and isn't too far (about 5mins) from the the bars on Deansgate but the Ibis in City Centre Manchester is pretty good value at about £40 (its also near the Village for great pubs and Chinatown for eating!)

I'm going to both shows. I'm flying from London to Manchester. Fastest and easiest way to get there! Found tickets for $150.

MEgabus would be cheapest, but check tims, they tend to take a LONG time to get anywhere.
Train is quickesst but make sure you get your ticket NOW because buying on the day they could be 3 or more times more expensive.

Thanks for the tip on the website. I will probably also train up. I'm flying into London on the 2nd, taking the train up to Manchester on the 7th, then flying out of Manchester back home on the 8th. From SF, the cost was $688. Not bad.

I'll be over and am thinking about going up to the show. I will be over for my annual Arsenal pilgrimage.

I've stayed at the Manchester Premier Inn and it is a good hotel. Thinking of taking train up from London Sunday morning. Found same deals others did about 27GBP for 2 singles (returning Monday after lunch).

Tickets are still available, btw. Odd for such a small venue.

Thank you all for the tips how to get from London to Manchester. I checked national express pages but the cheapest train ticket I found was about 54 pounds...so am I doing something wrong or are all the cheap tickets already gone?

I know that as they sell more tickets, the price goes up. there is a 12:55 train that is only 22 pounds and you would arrive in Manchester at 15:09. You could also try the bus, they are 5 pounds right now. it's not as nice as the train, but it's just as effective.

For this gig, the main floor will have the seats removed and everyone on the floor space should be able to get great views of the band from all areas. I am so excited about all the boys being in my hometown for the first time and I do hope everyone has a super night to remember!:monkey

Do you think they will be strict with Cameras. I crotch it at all shows and never have a problem just want to make sure there is no "Extra" security in Europe for shows. I would assume it is more laid back and I just don't want to risk anything since I have an entire European vacation as part of this trip and don't want to lose my camera.

I would assume it is more laid back and I just don't want to risk anything since I have an entire European vacation as part of this trip and don't want to lose my camera.

'fraid to tell you this, but in England it is pretty much swings and roundabouts - some venues do scant searches others go way over the top! They can't stop you taking mobile phones in which have cameras but I know that I am going to be ultra careful with my digicam. Last time I was at Wolverhampton I got in ok but at Wembley I was searched.:shrug

You guys should be fine taking your cameras! I've been in the Apollo more times than I care to mention and haven't been searched once. It's a truly great venue and the pub being no more than 30 seconds away from the theatre doors is a bonus becasue you can roll into the gig if you get a little too drunk! haha!
