Hubby and I will be coming from Canada to see the shows in Hamburg, Berlin, Vienna and Munich! Bought the tickets this morning! Can anyone give me an idea as to how early lines will start for the stehplatz shows? I want to ensure we get nice and close!!!
Looking forward to a new experience of my fave band in new lands!!!

Stehplatz = standing
Sitzplatz = sitting
No standing in Hamburg, it's a congress hall

Don't have an answer to your question, but I'll be attending at least the Hamburg show. Where are your seats for that one? I have 3rd row, Boyd's side.

So jealous of the people with the close seats. Thought I could get better but i'm all the way in the 19th row. Still a great small venue and am SUPER stoked!!!!!

well here in german you can expect it to start pretty early.. not as early as the states but I'd say around 2 pm. you will start to find some people waiting around espically for a GA show.

Question for any locals: We will need to get a hotel room near the venue. We don't want ridiculously expensive, but at the same time, we would like something nice. Please send me some suggestions so I can start looking into this! Thanks in advance!

If you don't want to use your included HVV-ticket and you are to lazy to walk more than 5 minutes from your hotel-bed to the cch take a look at the

Cool! I like that! So now knowing we don't have to stay right near the venue, is there any place you recommend staying? We will likely arrive in Hamburg on the 15th of Feb in the afternoon, stay overnight that night and then the night of the 16th as well after the concert. This way we have the day of the 16th for sightseeing, too!

Thanks foe your help!

Hamburg is a lovely beautiful city (the most English-one in Germany) - even in February...

The much anticipated European tour dates have been announced. According to an email from The Warehouse (http://www.warehouse.davematthewsband.com/). For now, the tour begins February 13 in Stockholm, Sweden and runs until March 12 in Birmingham, England. Stops of note include a show in Scotland, three in Italy, a show in Austria, and, of course, Amsterdam. The Pre-sale via The Warehouse begins on October 20 at approximately 10 am Europe Time(s). Check your local clocks and the Warehouse to get your ordering on. The Public sale begins October 23.

I'm a total retard! :BANG I messed up my with my holidays thinking that I woul have to go to school in this week, and since I don't wanna miss too many days of school right in the middle of my preparation for my A level, I haven't bought tickets for Hamburg. Now I realized that I have indeed vacations.:lorraine

Anyways, is anyone possible to hook me up with some nice seats (1 Ticket)? I just feel a little sad and angry about myself because I could have bought one the first day the Warehouse published them, but my own stupidity blocked my way. :mad :BANG

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Yea, I know, it's just not the view that I hoped for as I could have easily bought seats for row 1/2/3. Writing that post I was really frustrated, but now I got a little over it and bought first row balcony tickets, gonna be a new experiance for me since I'm actually a kind of guy which needs to be in the center dancing the hell out of me. Anyway thank you :)
I just really hope that there is noone getting bothered by me standing all the time, because there is no no way I'm gonna sit during a show :evil

Hi! It looks like you're now doing the same shows we're doing with the exception of Cologne.... we have to go back home before that one! We'd love to try and coordinate either meet ups or maybe the travel between cities. We've already messaged back and forth a bit about the train between Berlin and Vienna (I think it was those two cities)

Looking forward to these shows so much!!!

Its gonna be so cool to have you ants marching finally in my hometown for a show!

Please feel free to ask anything, i will check this thread frequently.

Although the Radisson is really convenient, I personally would not stay there. Check out the East Hotel right in the action around St.Pauli http://east-hamburg.de/ Its a 6 Euro cab ride to the venue.

CCH is a convention center. Show could be really slow (we northern Germans are nice but of calm nature :-D ) Keep that in mind.

Please dont go to McDonalds. So much good food around town. German food sucks so we collected all great world food in fine, atmospheric specialty restaurants. Tell me what you like (french, italian, thai, japanese, brazil, etc) and i hook you up. My personal favorite: http://www.leplatdujour.de

Party on worlds most famous red light district, the Reeperbahn. I try to figure out if there will be an aftershow party somewhere...

See you soon!

markushamill
01-13-2010, 03:35 PM
Yes, Hamburg will show us all if there's going to be any differences in the show and the songs compared to the European gigs in 2009. Will they go on playing such a big bundle of songs from "Big Whiskey"? Can we expect classics such as "Warehouse", "Dancing Nancies", "Typical Situation"...? I would like that very much!
I'm really looking forward to the German gigs... Hamburg... Cologne... Frankfurt. Can't wait...! :-)
Btw: Does anybody know if there will be an opening act in Hamburg?

eabrowne79
01-14-2010, 02:39 PM
I have no idea if there will be an opening act, but I have been wondering that myself. I hope we get classics, don't know if we'll get Typical Situation though, they just don't play that all that often. I think it will be less BWGK heavy, cause they just did a tour there promoting it, but hopefully we'll still get some Why I am, Seven, and Alligator Pie.

So on my way back from a volunteer trip in Africa I have 3 nights in Amsterdam. I just realized that my last night is the night of this show. Google says it's over 4 hours away. Is there a train or any easy form of transportation from Amsterdam to Hamburg?? Any insight on the logistics of making this happen would be much appreciated. Are tickets even still available? I don't know if this is unrealistic for me to try and pull off, but what an amazing end to my trip this would be! Thanks in advance for your ideas and help!

So I found tickets are still available on the eventim website. Is there a Will Call option? It didn't seem like there was, but then again I'm not having an easy time navigating a German website. I leave the US on Feb 2nd, so I would be nervous about whether I'd get my tickets in time... Thoughts??

Also, as best I can tell there is a train that would take about 5 1/2 hours from Amsterdam, is that the best option? Thanks again for any insight, I've never been to Europe before and am trying to make this DMB Hamburg show happen last minute.

As far as getting the tickets from the eventim website I got mine pretty quickly, but the shipping costs is pretty outrageous. If I remember correctly they came in less than two weeks from ordering them, but I can't promise that.

As far as the train goes, see if you can find an ICE train that goes from Amsterdam to Hamburg. It's a bit more expensive but MUCH faster, they are like the fastest trains in the world, or maybe second fast next to Japan. Anyway, if you have a limited amount of time that might be easier for you. Good luck! Maybe we'll see each other there.

Regarding the tickets, I could easily order them for you and handle them to you at the show (I live in Ger). Would be way safer than shipping it to the US.

I tried a small explanation for you. And yes, youre totally right, all connections take longer than 5 hours.

Thanks for the info, looks like that the 658 IC train would do the trick. 81 euros each way is what that says, right? I'll be with my cousin and I think the earlier we get to Hamburg the better, have some time to site see.

If we can work out something with the tickets that would be so helpful. I don't know if euro shows are like u.s. shows, where you can almost always find someone selling tickets, but I'd like to know that I have tickets waiting if we're gonna make the trek. I'll shoot you a PM

i'm zachy d's friend who can't make the shows!!! :lorraine

I posted this on tickets, but I wanted to post it on the particular cities it applies to...thanks for reading...

Hi everyone,

I was one of those lucky people who was supposed to be on a flight from California to connect in Atlanta to go to the Germany shows. With the snow/ice storms, both possible flights I tried to get on from California were cancelled! :BANG

While at the counter last night, the Delta employee informed me that I would not make it to Germany! So I have spent the last 12 hours contacting hotels, airlines, trains, etc. to try to recoup some money!

So I have some tickets to sell...Please contact me first to make the arrangments, but you will be picking them up from friends or the people I bought them from who had the ticket to give to me at the show.

1. I have 2 singles in Hamburg. Both are parkett left in front of boyd.
One is 3rd row. One is 10th row.

2. I have 2 singles for Berlin. One is a floor standing ticket/GA. One is sec 21 row 8. On Stefan's side of the stage. If you look at the seating chart, row 8 is really row 2, I think?

3. I have a GA for Munich.

4. I have a GA for Vienna. I admit I bought this off of ebay for 20eur over face. But it was a sold out show. I have contacted the seller so I don't have this to resell immediately. But you would be meeting him.

Each ticket was around $60-70 eur = $85 per ticket.

You can paypal after you get tickets in hand.

Thank you,
Dione Smith (a very sad DMB fan!) :(

Hi Folks,

I am really excited for tonights show.
So no meet up was planned as of now, so I will go ahead and start off something.
Since the show is all seated, which is very weird but will turn out fine in the end, there is no need to get in line as early as possible.

Alberta Cross is a great live band, I have seen them twice last year, and it'S great they open up.
So I dont wanna miss out on them by no chance.

Well, there is a bar called "mathilde"
it's not overpriced and right in the heart of the university quarter.
Here is a link with the walking directions from the venue to the bar, which is located at "Bornstrasse" on the corner of "Grindelhof"
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=cch1,+hamburg&daddr=Bornstra%C3%9Fe+16,+20146+Hamburg,+Germany&geocode=FUNJMQMdgGOYACFksye1enAfaSkB0q0lPY-xRzEuoqK0qEkD7w%3BFb1hMQMd7E-YACnxUSO5OY-xRzFkRqZ9vIUmiQ&hl=en&mra=ls&dirflg=w&sll=53.564915,9.98174&sspn=0.01463,0.055189&ie=UTF8&ll=53.563916,9.9858&spn=0.01463,0.055189&z=14

well, since the show starts at 7 pm.
There is a bigger chance to go out after the show which probbably be around 11 pm.
There I would suggest Kulturhaus 73 (or in short Haus 73 which translated means House 73)
the direction is Schulterblatt 73, it's quite a big place whith cheap beer, and they are open quite long. personally it's not my favorite place, but I am a picky bastard :-) Well lots of people like it, and there is enough space for a load of people.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=cch1,+hamburg&daddr=Schulterblatt+73,+Hamburg,+Germany&geocode=FUNJMQMdgGOYACFksye1enAfaSkB0q0lPY-xRzEuoqK0qEkD7w%3B&hl=en&mra=ls&dirflg=w&sll=53.563916,9.9858&sspn=0.01463,0.055189&ie=UTF8&z=15

It's about 10 to 15 minutes walking or
one stop with the S-Bahn (metro train) from "Dammtor" (which is exactly at the cch venue) to "Sternschanze"

So well, I am happy to hear any reply
See you soon
kai:monkey

germankai

ohh yeah I forgot
I could make it to Mathilde at 4 pm if anyone is willing to go there.
the walk to the venue is about 5 minutes, so I would leave at around 6,30 pm to get to the show, grab a beer and watch alberta cross.

if not see you at the show or at "Haus 73" after the show.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=cch1,+hamburg&daddr=Bornstra%C3%9Fe+16,+20146+Hamburg,+Germany&geocode=FUNJMQMdgGOYACFksye1enAfaSkB0q0lPY-xRzEuoqK0qEkD7w%3BFb1hMQMd7E-YACnxUSO5OY-xRzFkRqZ9vIUmiQ&hl=en&mra=ls&dirflg=w&sll=53.564915,9.98174&sspn=0.01463,0.055189&ie=UTF8&ll=53.563916,9.9858&spn=0.01463,0.055189&z=14

well, since the show starts at 7 pm.
There is a bigger chance to go out after the show which probbably be around 11 pm.
There I would suggest Kulturhaus 73 (or in short Haus 73 which translated means House 73)
the direction is Schulterblatt 73, it's quite a big place whith cheap beer, and they are open quite long. personally it's not my favorite place, but I am a picky bastard :-) Well lots of people like it, and there is enough space for a load of people.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=cch1,+hamburg&daddr=Schulterblatt+73,+Hamburg,+Germany&geocode=FUNJMQMdgGOYACFksye1enAfaSkB0q0lPY-xRzEuoqK0qEkD7w%3B&hl=en&mra=ls&dirflg=w&sll=53.563916,9.9858&sspn=0.01463,0.055189&ie=UTF8&z=15

It's about 10 to 15 minutes walking or
one stop with the S-Bahn (metro train) from "Dammtor" (which is exactly at the cch venue) to "Sternschanze"

So well, I am happy to hear any reply
See you soon

I expect them to play lots of it. However, hoping lots of it for this tour is 5-6 songs.

Either way, like I previously said. This tour is a poor indication of how the summer tour may go. They're going to play BW heavy setlists in Europe.

naturally. I'm assuming no one here is stupid enough to think this is how the summer will go just because of what they are playing in Europe.... but then again, this is Ants. ;)

Looks like the band didn't rehearse before this tour as usual. I don't know why the choose to just go through the motions and never step outside their comfort zone in Europe.

could use a kickass jam, IMO.

Speaking of kickass, hopefully the ending of SDL is still kickass, as well :evil

Only thing I could think out is a nice badass outro! lol

What needs to be improved?!

It sounds a bit hollow live, IMO. But i've only seen it once. It just feels a lot more full on the album and packs a more powerful punch.

This is what happens when an average album receives accolades like BW did.

They'll play this album to death.

It progressed through out the tour.. Saw it at beacon, and by the time Alpine and Noblesville came around it was tight.. then First Midwest it was absolutely phenomenal. Very Very good on the DVD too btw.
