So cool! I can't wait to hear all about it!

I was trying to do a half in March but I got injured. Actually I got injured 3 times so far.....so now I am hoping to do one in the fall up here.

I just joined a running group, and I am already learning alot. I'm finding out how fun 'speedwork' is.....NOT!

Great group though. All levels. At least I'm not the only 'newbie' :lol

Hey do you have a garmin? I think I need one. Just have the Nike+ thing and it's not cutting it....

i haven't joined a running group...i probably should tho. i know i could learn so much more, and maybe do it right if i did...:lol i don't have a garmin. i have a watch that calculates distance, time, calories, laps, whatever, it's awesome. http://www.amazon.com/Timex-Ironman-Triathlon-Fitness-Tracker/dp/B0013HUM6Q/ref=sr_1_41?ie=UTF8&s=watches&qid=1276216085&sr=8-41

for reals. i hear ya sister! i have been trying to get into school...but i really have no idea if i would get enough financial aid to go. it's a full time program that is best if you DON'T work at all. so i would need aid not only for school, but for living expenses while i'm in school... :shrugThat's where I am at too. There is a program here at Sac State, but I would have to quit work in order to go. It would cost me less, but then we wouldn't have my income. With my daughter being in college and wanting to transfer to Davis soon, it is just one more huge thing standing in my way.

It's hard because I was 1 year through my grad program the first time around, but I left halfway through. Going through a bad relationship thing at the time that had me bailing in a panic. Leaving the relationship was a good thing. School, perhaps not so much. Oh well......such is life!

I got up to 10 miles before I got slammed with problems. It was a huge bummer to miss my half, but I tried to look at it as a learning opportunity.

I had to step back and start all over again. Getting injured sucks! But I am doing okay now and taking it slowww......:D

Oh that looks good. I will check those out. Seems like most of the garmins are between $2-300. Yikes!

yeah...i didn't want anything that expensive...i just wanted something to calculate my distance and time and stuff, and this watch does that. i didn't feel the need for a heart rate monitor when that function made it cost a couple hundo more...i can calculate my own heart rate thank you very much, and i know when i'm working out if i'm good to go or not. not to mention i don't want some annoying chest strap around me while i'm running. this watch just has a little transmitter that clips to my pants, and i don't feel it at all. it's super light and not annoying.

that sucks that you got injured and had to miss your race, i'm so scared of that happening to me. but i'm doing what i can to prevent it...lots of stretching. lots of yoga, and i'm not running EVERY day even tho i want to. :lol :lol

oh i have no choice in the matter there unless i hit the treadmill...it's all hills where i live. my long run i did on vashon island was more hills that i have ever encountered...there was one stretch that was uphill for like 2.5 straight miles. it was hell. but i did it. that was the first time my shins actually hurt after a run, and my calves. damn hills! :lol

have you checked out the app on the new balance facebook page? called map mate? you can map routes, look at other peoples routes, do elevation evaluations of your routes and everything. it's super cool.

I definitely need something. I know the Nike thing is limited. It's really just a glorified pedometer and seems to be lacking a little in accuracy. I found out last week at my running group it said I had actually run less than the person next to me doing the same mileage with a garmin. It wasn't terribly off, but now I know it isn't exactly accurate either.

Oh you will be fine! It sounds like you started off at a good pace mile wise. I started out slow too, but since I didn't have as much time before my race and I was feeling anxious, I ramped it up a little too quickly.

Yoga and stretching are the best! I do piloga ( pilates + yoga ) too on my off days plus a weight training class on the weekends and sometimes a balletone class. I think all those things are so helpful.

Plus your bod is way younger than mine!:lol

it is a bit challenging to get the watch calibrated so it's accurate, i haven't quite figured that out yet...so my distance is off a bit too. :lol gotta get with the man to figure out wtf is up with it.

i think i'm pretty slow...i'm about 10 min/mi. but i'm ok with that. after the race i'll probably work on figuring out how to go faster. maybe join a running group to get some pointers.

i wish my gym offered more classes like that...the yoga i do is on my living room floor. i have downloaded some videos and do it that way. i'll have to see if i can download piloga, do you need equipment for that?

I have used mapmyride.com before and it seems pretty good. I have a few favorite runs that I like to do.

With this group we run on the track every Tues night and it's considered the 'hard' run, hence the hills the other night near the track after we did some relays for speed.

Tonight is more of a longer run but at an easier pace. Sundays is the 'long' run.

Cool on your hills. That Hayes St hill at B2B was brutal enough. It seemed to go on forever...... I barely made it to the top! Loved that downhill though! :D

But right now, even doing that for a considerable distance is enough right now it seems, but I liked that they push you just a little more each time. That really helps me out.

No you don't need any equipment. They just combine pilates and yoga poses. The pilates strengthens the core and the yoga does too of course but also incorporates stretching/ relaxing at the end. I love it. I am not a flexible person by nature, but I have gotten more that way over time.

Noticed the FB post this morning. Very cool to see it. Not sure how many days until my shows. Haven't really had much time to think about it. Probably better that way. Or not.

Hate to chat and run, but I need to get heading to bed. This old man is wiped out and 4:30 comes real quick. Great chatting with you again. I will try and not be too much of a stranger. Promise.

is that really a long term viable business prospect? i mean...there's probably enough hype at this point...but who the f is gunna give two shits about that in a couple years? not enough to make a theme park profitable i wouldn't think.

but maybe i'm underestimating the power of the nerd in this situation.

Petty was solid as usual, great shows. He has a great new Reggae-ish song called Don't Pull me Over, I suggest everyone check it out. One of the highlights of the weekend.

The stage is definitely glad bag wrapped and you can count on it being that way for dmb. It's a new permanent part of the stage. It really didn't hinder the view all that much from the Lawn on N1. It would have been cooler to see the cliff and plateau behind Petty from the lawn on N1 but oh well I guess. N2 we were in reserved seats so it didn't really do much other than block the sky behind the stage. Unfortunately the glad bags are here to stay. Plus there's a huge THE GORGE AMPHITHEATRE sign on top of the stage in case you forget where you are...

Camping was about the same, pretty standard. Regular cost 65, premiere was 110, and terraced was 210. I asked the lady at the gate what Terraced was all about and she pretty much laughed and said anyone who buys that is a complete moron. As you walk into the venue on the path from the campground theres that little house to your right, well that's where they dug out a couple of rows for camping. It pretty much looks like they people in there were camping in dirt paths anyway. I would highly discourage anyone from buying terraced. We did regular camping like we normally do and it was what I expected.

The weekend was great though, perfect weather, perfect shows. Solid all around. Beers are now 9 dollars for 16 ounce cans and 12 for 24 ounce cans. Sneaking in a camel pack full of 7&7 is the way to go.

it's sorta hidding

as for John Popper

well He told the wrong people he wanted to guest they told him dmb was having no guest at Roo.

so he and the rest of BT left to head to there next show.

then Danny guested and he started tweeting about how upset and betrayed he felt.

I tweeted him to talk to Fonz.

then he kept rambling said something to me and a few others to talk to fonz for him :lol

plus a bunch of other stuff.

fonz got on tweeter and basically said that he nor any other band member even knew BT was playing Roo.

had they known John Popper probably would of guested

Hey All!

Getting geared up for Alpine in a couple of weeks! Also got confirmation on our plans to head to the Gorge this year! This will be a first time trip to WA for us. I know there are probably dozens of people with the same questions (and, yes, I checked out Toupstown), but I'm hoping for a quick answer. We are camping at the Gorge campground and based on posts online, it seems rather spartan. My question is what is the availability of water (i.e. refilling jugs or bottles) and ice? Does the little store carry ice or is it ridiculous to expect there will be enough to go around?

Welcome to the Gorge! Go to toupstown.com it will have all the Gorge 411 you'll need for a first timer and sign up for the contact sheet and then you will get filled in on what meet ups are going on and what not. I made my first trip last year and I'll never miss it again:D

I just stupidly organized! I'm a Front Office Manager at a large City Hotel here in Philly so I have to be organized! It's more for myself so I can keep tabs on everyone and their deposits, phone numbers, ants name, email address, and I had to get an itinerary together for the bus company and fax it over to them of where we are stopping and times at each stop, nothing big. Ill be the one at the front of the bus with my clip board and mega-phone in hand! :p

You don't HAVE to fill out the form at toupstown, its more for the community to see who is going to the gorge and where folks are staying and where they are sitting. It's up to you!!!

Plenty of ice and water and it is not that spartan.

There are people who camp at the gorge and all they bring is drinks. They live off of Shakedown street. Not the way I roll but to each their own.

You can also leave and head into Quincy if you need anything bigger (i.e. grocery shopping).

Sheriffs were out in force in the campground too. I didn't get hassled at all but a small family of four got busted for smoking a joint around their campsite. Two 60 year old parents and their son and his gf who had to be at least 24 each at the youngest. They handcuffed the son and paraded him around the campsite to make a point that they were there. Plus it took 6....yes 6...sheriffs to do this. Total nonsense.

It's a full charge bookkeeping position at Encore Media Group. I would be the accounting department. So, same kind of stuff I'm doing now...but at least in a company in the creative arts industry which will help with networking in that field (which is what I'm working on getting into school for). It's way far away from home, so I'd have a significant commute, but I gave them a salary requirement of more than I'm currently making (and more than enough to make up for the gas expenses) so it would be worth it. AND i wouldn't be in the car business anymore...yahoo!
