***Gorge 2010*** Labor Day Weekend

Greetings All!

So i know this seems preemptive, and it probably is, but I am reminded of my first Gorge trip in 2008. The thread for that year was started on November 29th, 2007, when the thread starter happened to look at the Labor Day weekend Schedule for next year and discovered it completely blocked. So, out of sheer boredom and nostalgia, i decided to look at the availability for Best Western Lakefront Inn at Moses Lake, the hotel that Warehouse lottos extra rooms off to WH'ers (and the obligatory in the past this has been used to accurately predict tour dates for the Gorge), and sure enough, it is reserved for Friday and Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. Does this only mean two nights at the gorge this year? probably not, they will probably be departing right after the show to get to the next destination. yeah last year (09) was the first time we went prepared. We brought with us this awesome Cone party tent thing that held up to the wind and rain wonderfully- We named our camp Davestock, and I know that lot of the AM's people beyond the ones i met and that came to hang out saw us. This next year we will be definitely going with Premier at least, even possibly Wildhorse.

Also, Live nation changed the way they do camping at the gorge. Premier is huge now, encompassing the area that used to be where Shakedown St. and all the other food vendors were, at the bottom of the campground closest to the amphitheater. Shakedown st set up in the back in 09(around 3 o'clock if you are looking at the campground from an aerial view) before dissolving due to a lack of business. Most of them ended up in the middle of the campground in a much reduced fashion. So, who knows how that's going to work out this year.

I seriously scheduled like 3 online classes last semester because I knew there would be a spring tour, but we didn't know the dates yet. Luckily it never ended up coming into play, I just had to re-arrange some finals to go to Vegas. No big deal.

In 2004 I missed my grad school orientation cause it interfered with the gorge. My sister literally drove me from the gorge to the airport and I moved to Boston right after Labor Day weekend. You do what you gotta do to be there!

2003 was the last time they played the Gorge with a 2 night stand but that came in August of that year, not Labor day weekend. It could be booked because of people anticipating the DMB weekend being on Labor day. I just wanted to point out it was August shows the last time the band only did 2 nights there. I think it was 8/7 and 8/8 of 2003.

Stupid expansion, they screwed up the flow of that campground BIG time. The only thing I worry about is the ability to find KIND people at wildhorse- At the gorge campground, there were people walking around on the hour with wonderful bakery items and other various yumtastics. Even though I'm planning on staying at WH I'm still planning on going to the main campground often for treats and the scene. I just figure it's easier to visit there and stay at WH then it is the other way around.

Oh, by the way- the bowls are all about money. When BSU went to the Fiesta bowl, they sold out their share of tickets, and anyone who watched that game can attest to the huge number of BSU fans. BSU travels like a BCS conference school for games that matter, and they travel better than any Big East team. The team is legit, and they can't help what conference they play in (look at the SEC's OOC schedule).

Besides, what's your beef with BSU? Oregon is still going to the Rose Bowl to destroy a Big Ten team. Even if you had beat BSU, you guys still would have lost to stanford, thus ending any argument that you guys had at a NC game with the way certain teams ahead of us are playing this year.But alas, this is not a football discussion. We can talk more football when the time comes for BCS anouncements.

This past year I had a strong outing, adding magic mushrooms and a plethora of wonderful Specialty baked yum yums to my strength of schedule, but I think I lost voters when I passed out early on Night 1 and failed to schedule out of conference matchups at #1derland and Toupstown (in all fairness, #1derland requires you to be a part of an affiliated conference, in addition to having to pay quite a bit to schedule it, and Toupstown is so far away that our fans don't travel well to it, in addition to charging an additional fee just to grant our team access to the actual Toupstown itself).
All in all, I'm a junior this year and upperclassmen always have the advantage in the heisman voting. This year, expect us to schedule strong out of conference matchups involving beer pong, ladderball and cornhole, as well as feats of manly strength such as arm wrasslin and of course, Wildly cheering on both the Ducks and the Broncos on their opening weekend, considering that for the first time in my Gorlegiate career the broncos and the ducks will not be playing each other. However, the broncos and the beavers will be playing each other later in the month, an outing that I'm sure both ducks and broncos will eagerly anticipate (while both desire the same outcome- the demolition of the mighty rodentia)
