When you have something insightful to say feel free to quote me again, but if you are going to throw one liners out that tell us nothing then don't bother. Im sorry also were you there last night because I didn't read a review from you.
And to answer your reply, I can't say thats the reason he plays them, only Dave knows. He likes them obviously. He also loves Sweet Up and Down too, but that one came back briefly and then left the sets. But again asking for a song that he is going to play anyway is a wasted request in my opinion. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion and thats mine. And to further my point as much as we all love to think us hard core fans are the dominant portion of the fan base, the smart ones of us here know thats not the case, we just wish is were true. I can site so many example over the years of hearing people ask Dave for songs that he was playing every night that tour. This may also be part of the reason why we see the Sister, Cornbread, Too Much, released over and over on different cd's.
Ive never seen a bad show, and I will keep seeing shows as long as they play them. I will always appreciate what they give us but also will ALWAYS hope for the best possible scenario!
Great post. Exactly how I feel.

I can't believe all of the complaints about last night's show. I was 12th row and I felt it was just great. So they didn't play your song. Tough! Dave was as funny as ever, both of them played extremely well and donated their time for a great cause. If you felt you were "ripped off" because it wasn't the setlist of your dreams, stay home.
It's just crazy. I don't post that much, but i've read this stuff for a long time. Some people are just spoiled. On a consistent basis, You're not going to find better music. Some dude posted a huge list of shows and bands he's either seen or is going to see, like that makes him an authority that trumps all dissenting opinion. I've been to half the shows on that list plus over 100 Grateful Dead concerts. These guys - no matter which combination of them is playing, pretty much blow everyone away.
Stop complaining.

Not sure if people appreciate when I raise up the 2010 LOVE sign :-/
We saw you! The crowd around me was a little lame...well the crowd that lined up in the aisle anyway. Our section had to stand because of all the creepers! :rolleyes
AND, in case you were curious, the couple with the same seats as us had fake tickets. Apparently there were a lot of fakes. They were told to leave.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in DC!

As we feel the excitement building for this summer, we wanted to let everyone know that after twenty years of consecutive touring, Dave Matthews Band will be taking 2011 off. We feel lucky that our tours are a part of so many people's lives, and wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible. We're excited to make this summer one of our best tours yet, and look forward to returning to the road in 2012.

Not much to say here that hasn't been said, but a couple thoughts...
I’ll start by saying that I can now understand, though don’t totally agree with, what a lot of the Vegas attendees felt when they talked about how the setlists didn’t matter because just being able to see Dave and Tim is so special in and of itself. For me, Dave and Tim shows always feel like once in a lifetime experiences, because they happen so infrequently (with just 26 North American shows since 2004, including festival appearances with short sets). This was also the first time I'd ever been up front for a D&T show, and those memories will not soon be forgotten.
All that being said, I just feel like the setlist gripes are for the most part justified. The songs were all extremely well played, but the show was seriously lacking in the classic tunes that most in attendance seemed to want to hear. Tunes like Crush, Dancing Nancies, DDTW and Ants easily got the biggest ovations from the crowd, yet songs of those caliber were few and far between. The lack of anything from Crash is simply inexcusable, especially when those songs came at the cost of yet another Sister, Corn Bread and Rye Whiskey.
At the end of the day, it was a pretty awesome experience and I'm really glad to have been there, but I think this show reflected a ton on Dave's current state of mind regarding his music and shows, and that reflection wasn't at all what I think most of us here want.

I was disappointed with the lack of monkey jokes in between songs. The one recurrent joke, the metaphine 7 or whatever it was, was alright :-X to say the least
I hope the setlist does not foreshadow the upcoming tour. It was a good show, and even though they played alot of repeats, it was decent to hear some new songs acoustically.
Save me and needle made it though. I was really hoping for some rare tunes though . . . . like monkey man and dodo.
And whoever was at xchange that I was talking to . .. . i def called the either bartender or ddtw intro. . . .

^not too tough to call hahaha
lol at people backing up this setlist
The fact that Ants was not even on the actual setlist and we were supposed to get Gravedigger as the final song is disturbing. Not that I do not like Gravedigger, however I dont want to see it as a last song at a show. While I had a great time at the show being there, seeing friends before and after the show, I can only think of what could have been. I can only think how it appears Dave just mailed this one in. His voice? Perfect, him wanting to mix up the set and give us something stellar? No chance. Besides Needle and the Damage Done, the set was pretty much predictible. Again not saying it sounded like crap, just that Dave's song selection is not like the past where he would keep you guessing what was coming next. With a larger catalog to choose from now, he seems comfortable picking from a select group of core songs that the majority of his fan base are tired of. And how could not one song make it off of the Crash album? Without taking any of the BWATGGK songs off the list, if the bolded songs below were swapped for the songs played in those positions, I think there would have been very little bitching over the set list as you have a good mix between new and old songs.
Bartender
Crush
Funny the Way It Is
Lying in the Hands of God
Spaceman
Squirm
Old Dirt Hill (Bring That Beat Back) (Seek Up)
Rye Whiskey (BOWA)

Put up some video's last night. I guess putting things on youtube makes them seem less clear in the audio and visual department.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaLvVw0X39I
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssSSNJXdSF4
A bit shaky at the beginning. I wasn't looking at the camera often, since I had the show right in front of me.
I'm surprised at the setlist complaints. I can't think of a single song I didn't like at the show.
If this is hated so much, is it worth putting up other videos?

Okay, lets look at 2 of those new songs as you say and match their song play totals with some other songs.
Cornbread has been played 157 times
Sister has been played 119 times
Now while the 2 above songs are newer than any of the below ones, not a single song listed below which are all older have been played more than Cornbread. Bolded songs are near 20 years old.
Big Eyed Fish 54 times
Busted Stuff 28 times
Captain 43 times
Digging a Ditch 95 times
Kit Kat Jam 22 times
Raven 53 times
You never know 70 times
Cry Freedom 152 times
Let You Down 34 times
The Dreaming Tree 81 times
Halloween 137 times
The Last Stop 91 times
Pig 139 times
Spoon 41 times
#34 21 times
American Baby 58 times
A.B.I 50 times
Dreamgirl 109 times
Everybody Wake Up 8 times
Hello Again 76 times
Hunger 129 times
Smooth Rider 83 times
Stand Up 53 times
Steady As We Go 36 times
Stolen Away 31 times
Angel 42 times
Dreams of Our Fathers 0 times
Fool to Think 94 times
I Did It 127 times
If I Had It All 91 times
Mother Father 7 times
Sleep to Dream Her 49 times
So Right 63 times
The Space between 114 times
What You Are 133 times
Water Into Wine 60 times
Sweet Up and Down 28 times
Break Free 19 times
JTR 104 times
This is not all of them, there are more
So you're complaining that I Did It, Hunger for the Great Light, and Dreamgirl aren't played enough?
If they played half of those songs, the people here would scream, cry and bitch.

To me, that's respectful. I don't want a bunch of hooting and hollering, and jumping up and down dancing. It's a D&T acoustic show. Sit down, stay quiet and enjoy.

I was there, and it was my first Dave and Tim show. And it was my girlfriends second Dave show (after one last summer). She said the one song she really did not like was ... cornbread. She never heard it before and said the lyrics sounded like a joke, but no one was laughing.
I found that the first 4 tunes.. bartender, crush, funny, lying in the hands... felt like a different show. It was more exciting, a good mix of tunes, and basically after that little run, it was song after song of thinking 'okay, when are the older tunes going to come out?'.
It was a great show, I cant deny that. However, the crowds applause made it clear. Ants, Crush, Nancies all got HUGE ovations. Some Devil tunes and Big Whiskey tunes really just kind of got old - though hearing them in that environment was great.
All in all, it was a good show. Set? Frankly, predictable and boring if you ask me.

I've been following this thread and have held back thus far but now here are some thoughts:
For those of you like myself who are dismayed by the negative comments about the show, rest assured that means that none of those complainers on this thread will buy D & T tickets again, freeing up more of those rare tickets for the rest of us.
The DC show was probably my 8th or so time seeing Dave and Tim and I am always happy with their shows regardless of the setlist because I know that what they choose to play is what they feel passionate about at the time - or just play well together which makes for good synergy, good Davespeak, and a good show. I have seen a wide range of songs played over the years by them. Just to have the opportunity to see them live is a rarity, so focusing on them playing rare songs or certain songs that DMB play well seems a bit selfish or just ignorant of the beauty of the two acoustic guitars together, and the way they might change up the tunes and take them into different places.
I asked Dave to play "Sister" because my sister and I flew across the country to see them together and I knew that if they played it they would play it with passion. I thought about asking for Long Black Veil or a #40 tease, but leaving DC having heard that song sitting next to my sister just meant more. As a musician I think that singing or playing a song without passion is difficult, so I'm happy with whatever they choose to play and hope that they keep playing together for many years to come!

i got one off warehouse when they went on sale...i was 2 rows back in line when they sold the last one at the venue.
i have a feeling they will drop in price over time...so be patient.
i have also heard that people on expressobeans/daveposters are bidding on each others posters to drive the average resale value up so they can keep selling them for more...dunno how true this is, but would not doubt it considering the dudes who go in and get 3 posters at a time just to flip them :violent

Did you go to a Dave Matthews Band show this year? Maybe it was more then one? Well I would love to hear from you!
The idea is to put together a fan book, where every show of 2010 is covered. 200-750 words (not a strict limit, just so we can fit all the accounts in the book) about your experience. Include what you did for tailgating, or post show if you want. Let us know why the show was special to you, or maybe why it fell a little short. Funny things that happened to you, people you met, your favorite song, the biggest surprise.. etc. If you have pictures with yourself in there, or just great shots of the band, feel free to include it.
The format idea:
The chapters will be each show. The chapter will start with the show name, a picture of the venue or the band playing at the venue and a setlist. Following that will be the fan accounts and a page or three of pictures from each show.
Include your age if you would like to show the eclectic crowd DMB has. Include the amount of shows you have been to, and what show number that particular account is referring to.
If we can get this going, my goal is to get every show of 2010, bind it and send it to anybody who sent me their stories and then start spreading the word that it exist. Maybe someday it will reach the band. Thanks.
