This venue is so small. Anywhere in here is awesome. I saw O.A.R. here about 7 years ago.

Yeah Box seats at then place are money. Perfect unobstructed view of the stage.

Side note: I was declined by WH member since 8/05. Pulled a pair of section A's threw them back, but then got two seats one on P and one in R.

all the reviews I have seen say the opposite, that most seats in the place suck. I've been there once and found it very awkward.

Was able to get 2 for me an my wife but had to get it as two singles -- so we are in separate sections (M + P) -- but still I am happy to get anything at all in such a small venue.

Alot of times they put "obstructed" if any tiny shred of the stage isn't visible from your seat. For Dave and Tim, it shouldn't be an issue.

those box seats would have been amazing. why did you throw them back?!

In my experience with Ticketmaster, whatever you pull right at 10:00:30 AM (or whatever) will be good, but not AS good as what you'll pull on the next try if you throw the ticket(s) back into the pool and try again really quick.

And that theory worked out for me again... actually, Box 20 is right on line with Orch. Row P, but the ticket I pulled in Row P is a bit more centered.

P.S. -- and now you all know the secret to transcendental Ticketmaster success :cool

That's how I feel. I'm in Section A, Row D on the inside aisle (i.e. right next to Section B), and from everything I've seen they look like they should be great seats. There's not much to see at a Dave and Tim show anyway, and being that close the sound should be excellent.

I know I am way the hell up from the stage, but at least I am straight out from the stage... I'll take em, though in section J, b/c I had far up seats for Boone 3.29.03 and had a blast... not 8th row like davidson (3.25.03), but this will be show #22 -- here's fingers crossed for little red bird, alligator pie (fuck, I saw them 4 times this year and missed that song and dive in from big whiskey)

i would have gone with the box on this. riot was right about box 20 and row P being basically in line but the problem is there is no slope to the floor so your gonna have a lot of heads in your way whereas the box is above the floor so you have a perfect view. being center matters in some instances but not as much in this one.

Well that's fine, but openly advertising that you're willing to pay over face value for a ticket is frowned upon here (and all of the other msg boards pertaining to the band), so careful what you say.

Yessir. Probably won't get them for 4-5 weeks prior to the show, then they ship 2 weeks prior.

That's to keep down on what you are seeing happen on eBay and stubhub, people selling their sweet reserves for x10 the price.

Fuck the haters, man. If you want to go the eBay/StubHub/broker route, by all means go for it. People get way too uptight around here about scalping tickets. Not something I'd ever do, but definitely not something I have a problem with. Supply and demand. Simple as that.

Yeah, and I doubt they're going to have big speakers on the stage like in that pic (they usually do ceiling rigs), so it should be a very nice, close side view, which is just fine with me.

What do you guys think of Section V Row F? Its obstructed but will I be looking at their backs all evening? Or are they seated further back from the front of the stage?

DMBzilla
12-11-2009, 04:51 PM
I think the "obstruction" isn't the side view so much as the pillars on either side of the stage. It all depends on their placement on the stage -- if they're 15-20 back from the front edge, you should have a great view unless the pillars are in your way, especially if you have low seat numbers. I'm in Section A, but have seats 1 and 2, so I'm pretty optimistic about my chances.

Are the pillars something D&T bring in or are they part of Dar Const. Hall? I am looking at this pic....http://www.flickr.com/photos/38003736@N00/3785975182

Part of the hall. They jut out on either side of the stage and, it seems, partially block the view from Sections A and V.

For Dave and Tim they play very close to the edge of the stage. I have been in that building before so those front 2 sections on each side definitely will be obstructed you will be looking at their sides. They sometimes don't even sell them. But at least your there and will still have a good time.

Regardless of what I am willing to pay for tix, who cares!!

I have the means to go to shows and pay what it costs, why that offends anyone I will never understand!!

It pisses people off because it encourages scalpers to continue eating up all the tickets, only to turn around and sell them for 3x face 15 minutes after they go on sale. I'm glad you can afford that shit but most of us don't have $600 to throw down for one concert.

My main problem is with the scalpers themselves, though. Get a real job and stop fucking us over.

RiotAct
12-12-2009, 01:05 AM
expanding on the whole obstructed view thing; I have a feeling the visual aspect of a Dave & Tim show is a lot less important than it is at a full-bad show. Reason being, there's a lot less to look at... no lighting rigs from Monk, and less performers.

Can anyone who's been to D.A.R. vouch for the acoustics? Are they really good throughout the entire auditorium?

Just checked Ebay..everything that could be considered a reasonable price is gone, not sure if there were many of those in the first place. Anyways, if people are having trouble finding tickets (which many probably are)...check sites like Craig's list and eBay a month or so before the show, there are usually a few people that can't end up going and just want to make there money back. It has worked out a few times for me. Just a suggestion.

$149 is before the stubhub fees and shipping. After that gets added, it's $175 each. Not quite double, but still up there.

:lol agreed; I'm there with ya, sista! We'd have to do some research and find cheap bars (hahahahaha yeah right!) down there if we can. Paying 8 bucks for a beer/rum and coke isn't going to fly that day.

I will probably offer my apartment as a place to crash for those who would like to get into the Baltimore/DC area on Wednesday night, rather than Thursday. Not a huge place, but I have a few air mattresses, and my couch could comfortably sleep a short-ish person.

That would be pretty awesome actually. I think we'll be staying with friends down there but can definitely get to any restaurant or bar in the city. Then again, perhaps we won't even need transportation if the place is close to the venue? I'll look into some things and see what I come up with.

But if I'm gonna be planning some shit, I better get some definite confirmations from people!

I was like FUCK this ISNT HAPPENIGN. so i tried again. no luck. I was like one more time, just to seem if someone stupid was looking for a better ticket like me. once more, got the same ticket i passed up 2 minutes earlier and snagged it. Metro on weekdays. I.e. thursdays last trains leave around 11.30ish. from foggy bottom or farragut west stations it may be around 11.45. in the direction of va, in direction of md, itll be a lil later around 11.45- 12.am

I work downtown with a parking company and can accomodate a couple cars if you let me know in advance.

I also know directions from north, south, east and west.

I also know a couple bars in the area, but am not good enough to get amazing discounts.

If it's a Thursday night, you will possibly have trouble getting out to Falls Church unless you book it. I'd say that's about a 25 dollar cab ride otherwise.... Metro closes at midnight week nights though

so I had a dream this morning that I was finally at my first D&T show... and happened to be sitting behind a very, very large man with extremely broad shoulders and a very big head. I hope that doesn't happen in real life at this show.

ah night one in vegas i was 7th row. had a man like this in front of me and kayla. even worse he kept bobbing and weaving in his seat and if i shifted in my seat to see he ended up still blocking me. go figure lol

shit I think that happened in my dream as well, no matter how much I tried to crane my neck and peer over his head, he just kept blocking my view.

Probably won't be out til early - mid March... to deter scalpers.

I'm still surprised the tix for this show went on sale so early, I wonder why they didn't wait a couple months to sell them?.

if you find another ticket (or tickets) let me know. My boy Ryan (one of the other poor bastards who got an underage at Hershey) wants one.

I'm sick to my stomach to discover that 1 ticket scalping organization has 119 tickets to this show...how in the world does that happen?! Its so unfair that these back end deals are made with ticket vendors to take up a large portion of tickets without the public having any real shot of purchasing tickets at face value and then resaleing them for double what they were purchased for.

Not to mention that this is a benefit concert.

I got my tickets off StubHub for a little over $200. I'm glad I got them, but I agree that it is B.S. that an organization can get over 100 tickets to a venue that only seats 3,500.

warehouseguy: Tickets from TicketMaster typically come a few days before the event. That's why I usually just print them online.
flip9014: at this point you are stuck with eBay, StubHub, etc. TicketMaster ran out rather quick I believe.

but they should send them out a couple weeks after you order them, but they are guaranteed 10 days before or something like that

Go to any ticket broker site they have all the same tickets. There is a total of 119 tickets between a bunch of brokers. They advertise everyone's tickets. Go to greatseats.com they'll have the same tickets.
As for Ticketmaster it depends on where you live typically when they will send out the tickets. I live in the MD DC northern VA Ticketmaster area so i usually get tickets to shows in that area a lot later then tickets for NY NJ etc...
Example when dmb tickets go on sale the same day for Nissan and Camden i buy them i will always get my Camden tickets first usually a month or so before getting Nissan tickets.

Plus you can log in to Ticketmaster and check your ticket status. It will tell you if they were printed and mailed.

hell yeah!!! Actually, I'm not sure if I'll be able to partake in many of the pre-show festivities, since I'll probably be getting into the city around 6 -- I'll be about 2 months into my new job by then, and I want to save the few vacation days I do get for summer shows instead to leave time for travel / rest / etc. :lol

I wish this show was on a Friday night instead, that way I could make good use of the 4/40 plan we have (work 10 hours a day Mon - Thurs, and get every Friday off!)

Are you going to hit up Hershey again if they play there this summer? I'm thinking about doing that, VA Beach, and Bristow again, plus adding SPAC possibly.
