I went to the DAR Saturday for a comedy show and this venue is pretty awesome! There really isnt a bad seat in the house. I was sitting in the 'obstructed view' area and had a great view of the stage. I am soooo excite for this show!!!!!

Hello Kim,

The reception promises to be a rare chance to mingle with Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds and Dr. Jane Goodall for 1 ½ hours. It begins at 6:00 pm and goes until the concert starts at 7:30 pm. Just yesterday we saw the space at DAR Constitution Hall…reception attendees will enter through a private entry and will be able to enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks while chatting with Dr. Goodall, Dave and Tim. There will be some brief remarks during the reception from Dr. Goodall and probably Dave Matthews. Most likely we will have a singed book by Jane available for all reception attendees. There should be a photo opportunity also. Close to 7:30 pm attendees will be escorted to the concert and take their seats in the first seven rows. After brief remarks by Jane, Tim and Dave, the concert will begin and will last at least 3 hours.

Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you for your interest and I’ll look for you at the reception and concert on May 20th.

The D&T show will only be 3,500 people and they won't run the metro trains late for this. Typically when trains run late an organization will pay metro the extra money needed to extend the time. For example if its because of a late baseball game, then the Nationals organization can make the decision to pay metro however much money to stay open an extra hour.

The more I think about this show, the more I realize the worst possible setlist they could play (in the realm of reason) will still leave me giddy with amazement. I think we have something great to look forward to. If I had to make a guess at the set, itd be like this:

If they reserved the entire first 7 rows, that is a lot of seats... while I am sure there are many people who support Jane and her cause (or want to meet Dave & Tim) it is highly probable, at $2500 a pop, they will not sell all the seats.

Yea, this will be my first as well. Even with Balcs at SPAC, pit and good reserves at Alpine, and Pit at Gorge, this is the one I am most stoked over. Was supposed to go to D&T at VCU in 08 but I flew out to Iraq like the week before. Venue was literally 10 mins away right down the main road in Richmond (Broad) and it was free. I was sooooooooo upset. But this will make up for it haha

There are a few large parking garages within close walking distance of the hall... tailgating really isnt an option, but there are several restaurants in the are in the vicinity too for drinks before the show.

Well let me be the first to say Welcome to DC! I hope you'll get a lot out of your visit (aside from the kick ass concert we're just 3 weeks away from)

As far as monuments go - you can knock off Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and Korean War Veterans Memorial very easily - they are all next to each other. I would plan to spend some time walking through the National World War II Memorial. It's very beautiful at dusk inside looking back towards the Lincoln.

If you plan to visit (go up in) the Washington Monument - just know that you must have a ticket (they are free - but they are distributed on-site and they can go quickly in the summer time. You can reserve online I believe - check out this site http://www.nps.gov/wamo/planyourvisit/feesandreservations.htm

You can also get free tours of the Capitol - which has a brand new visitor center (enter from the east side of the Capitol).

If you feel up to adventuring over into Arlington Cemetery it's worth going to see the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns among many other reasons just to visit the cemetery. The US Marine Corps War Memorial (aka The Iwo Jima) is near the cemetery as well.

Keep in mind when we say "near" in DC we may mean a 20 minute walk.

Back on the mall there's so many places that you could visit - Air & Space, American History Museum, Native American Museum, Natural History Museum, National Gallery of Art.

It really depends on how much time you'll be here.

As far as dining goes - I'm not quite sure what to recommend right in the National Mall area - but Georgetown has a ton of dining as well as Arlington, VA (where I live just across the river).

Parking around DAR is pretty much limited to metered spaces on the street. It's almost best to plan on having a few pints somewhere close by with friends.

Not yet. :shrug I switched my hours tho... I was originally supposed to work 11a-7p the day of the show and then 7a-3p the day after and I traded shifts with a girl so I work til 3 on Thursday and @ 11 on Friday... BUT I'm gonna try and work more magic, get out of work at 11 on Thursday and HOPEFULLY *fingers crossed* get off on Friday. :) I'll be sure to call you as soon as things are finalized. :hug

We decided to split on Gorge. So we threw up a trade for our n3 pits for good SPAC n2 and ending up having someone offer the 3rd row. We are acting spoiled for a n2 pit trade. But we know some people want out of pit, so we will gladly take there spot. It's not like a far move from pit to row c, so it's not too absurd. We'll see tho... :fingerscrossed :lol
