I clocked start to end at exactly 2:30.
Dave shared his experience having his photo taken (he has a photo face) which is in stark contrast to his 21 year old phase of glam rock where he'd kinda give you a Mick Jagger like look. He kept giving that look to everyone.
I'm gonna head out to Players soon - anyone joining. I mean we all can't go.

SHORT SHOW!!!
Nancies and Needle were the highlights for me.
Ants was also really fun, everyone got up and moved up front as far as they were able to (without pushing and shoving).
If you're hoping Dave is able to hit the high notes this summer, you'll be in for a rude awakening!
Crowd was excellent!

only 4 pre-2000 songs, looks like new new new, which I guess is alright, but not something that will get me to more than 1 show this summer. I know this is D and T, but I think it is a strong indicator that this summer will be Whiskey heavy.

My (not so stellar) review:
Not to be a complainer, but it seemed like Dave purposely was avoiding anything out of the ordinary.
Don't believe me? It came right out of Dave's mouth. He took out the 12 string, prompting chants for big eyed fish and grey street, (bartender had been played already, grey street is a bit "out of the ordinary" for dave and tim) Dave responds to the crowd something along the lines of "calm down everyone, don't worry, this song is going to be nice and boring" as he busts out squirm. Earlier in the set, as he prepares to play a song, he goes "I'm really nervous, I don't know how this one is going to turn out" prompting excitement from the crowd. Dave then goes on a second later to say "no don't worry, we play this all the time, I'm just nervous" as he busts into spaceman. The set was crazy short for the cost of these tickets, some versions of songs seemed cut (no extended outro on so damn lucky, DDTW was missing some of its standard wails, etc.) and he seemed ready to fly out the door prior to Ants Marching.
Good parts: Dave's stories were absolutely incredible; he had stories about going to swingers clubs, curing fungus in his fingers, and my personal favorite, his balding hair. He claims that he has thought about using Rogaine but doesn't because he will forget to use it every day, and he heard that if you don't use it religiously your hair will just fall out more. So there you have it folks, after years of speculation, it seems as if Dave does nothing for his receding hairline.
The venue was amazing, not a bad seat in the house. Fans were ok, although it was certainly small enough to get some organized chanting to go on, however people seem to either chant for "two step" which is annoying, or for songs that will never, ever be played D&T (one guy kept chanting for drive in drive out for example). Not that a chant would have made much of a difference, however, but I am quite annoyed that Dave couldn't pull out an classic old D&Tesque song for us, like IBYU, Cry Freedom, etc.
Overall, it was a fun night, and a sub-par effort and setlist from Dave is still a thrill for me, but when it comes to D&T, given the amount of time available to him and the wider variety of songs usually available to be played by virtue of an acoustic setting, I was let down tonight.

I told them I had a torn ACL and they moved me down. It was awesome.
The setlist sucked. We decided bottom 3 of any show I've been to.

First show ever... Loved it, the beginning few songs were great... Lol at people bitching about 100 dollar tickets, me and the gf paid 700 for 2... Still worth it
However I feel bad for the people sitting behing the 3 girls standing up through the first half of the show, orchestra, dave's side, prob 15 rows back... Dancing
If I had a bow and 3 arrows....... I'll just stop there

I wasn't complaining about paying 100. I was saying how with a 100$ face ticket. I think the setlist couldve been better. I still had a great time not regretting paying that much at all.

Show was good - great playing, weak ass setlist. BWGK songs sounded awesome acoustic. Was really hoping for more older stuff though. My first time sitting close for D&T so that was very cool, and getting to meet Dave preshow was well worth it (albeit brief). I'll be posting pics and a couple videos later this weekend.

^ I'm just disappointed cause I paid 100 bucks for a ticket. Def not a 100 dollar setlist
i would gladly pay $100 for a ticket to see a d&t show. first of all, those are "rare". second of all, dave tells great stories, many are priceless. and c'mon the sets were not that bad at all. what on earth were you expecting? it was a benefit show, and the first real US show of 2010

Nope - had VIP and was inside the reception until I went into the show. And no, I didn't yell anything (except PLAY STONE a few times late in the set, haha).
I dunno, I'm a little bummed about the setlist but what they did play was played great and sitting third row was unreal.

Back reading only three pages.
Just finished 12 straight hours of dave time. Aka Driving, listening and driving. haha.
I could not stop at random times just looking around the crowd thinking how thankful I was just to be one of the people in that room/building. For people complaining about the set list, be happy you were there, maybe your first, or tenth Dave & Tim Concert, you know it was special. Until tomorrow when I wake up (PS, got a 95.5/100 on my final this morning ahah)

It is a CHARITY show. :rolleyes Prices are raised for the CHARITY. You aren't going to get RARE, special songs for this type of show.
I take issue with this, as well as other statements that criticize posts for "complaining" about concerts.
This was a charity show and certainly I welcome the higher price. However, it is silly to say that "rare" songs shouldn't be expected. This isn't a benefit where many bands show up and Dave needs to cater to the general public; this is real dave and tim show. I understand there is some precedent, nonetheless, for benefit shows to be "dubbed down" when it comes to the setlist, but there is no rational reason why this should be the case.
For this particular concert, you could argue that it may be in bad taste to play certain songs in the presence of Jane Goodall such as halloween (although some of dave's stories are pretty vulgar) however such songs are few and far between. There are tons of classics that were dying to be played tonight that would have been completely appropriate.
Many people say Dave has earned the right to play whatever he wants. I completely agree. That doesn't mean I can't, and shouldn't express my disappointment over his selections. It should be obvious on these boards that we all love Dave/DMB, and that the vast majority of us (myself included) will continue attending shows until they stop touring no matter what they play. I don't think he "owes" us anything, I just think it is disappointing, shocking even, how he often designs these setlists and turns his back on some of his most amazing, beautiful pieces of work.
While I do not think I am owed a certain setlist quality, I do think I am owed one thing: a set that is of normal duration. Given the price of the concert and the fact that this was just D&T, there is no reason for the concert to have been as short as it was. Do I feel "ripped off"? No, of course not, I'd probably pay that 100 bucks to see Dave play 5 songs, that is how much I love his music. I can, however, see how people feel ripped off, and in some sense I feel as if I was owed a longer set as well.
I understand this is a place for fans to gather and talk about a common interest in DMB. But to just gush over everything they do while ignoring some of the shortcomings is just ignoring the obvious reality that some things can be done better. While incessant complaining can be annoying, to dismiss any complaint simply because it is not something positive adds nothing to the discussion.
For what it's worth, despite everything I have said, the concert was still fantastic. It simply could have been better.

I can see what you mean. I really feel strongly that we got jipped at least one song due to the random comments, like "Go Flyers" that sparked a funny, but yet long conversation about the Players Club. Right before the Maker the 30 second to one minute pause between a conversation with Dave calling Tim over away from a microphone had to be an audible to the set list. If you noticed after the Maker im pretty sure they played the next 4-5 songs straight trying to prevent stupid audience chatter to distract them. Im pretty sure Dave began the Ants intro while Tim had the wrong guitar and tuning, even when Dave tried to tune it himself so he didn't have to waste time. They were on a time line and im not saying the audience ruined it, but it didn't help the cause of getting maybe the set list everyone "wanted".

With dave and tim, dave plays a six string for grey street and big eyed fish. Squirm is also in a different tuning.

Not a bad seat in the place.
Needle and damage done was the surprise of the night.
Tim is just amazing.
Davespeak was hilarious.

Show was good - great playing, weak ass setlist. BWGK songs sounded awesome acoustic. Was really hoping for more older stuff though. My first time sitting close for D&T so that was very cool, and getting to meet Dave preshow was well worth it (albeit brief). I'll be posting pics and a couple videos later this weekend.
did you tell him to stop playing BWGK stuff?

Yes I enjoyed it too.
Sorry for those who feel ripped off or if it didn't meet some expectation.
Again have Dave and Tim in a venue like that was worth it, IMO, even before they played one chord.
I have seen three d and t shows and fully enjoyed them all.
I am thankful to have been there, had a great night in dc with my wife and laughed and jammed with Dave and Tim last for 2 plus hours!

no i dont I was trying to say that he charges to much and im not a newbie! I know it was a benfit show but its almost the same price at nationals stadium! People are losing there jobs no one is making as much money and his prices keep going up! He has plenty of money! Think about the fans! Im lucky that ive been getting raises through this bad economy and can still afford to go!
Plus I see why so many people hate on dave its not his music its the FANS! Go to a camden show and you will see what im talkin about!

The show wasn't great - he's entitled to his opinion on that.
For me, I've never sat close for a Dave and Tim show, and that alone was awesome. Hearing the new shit acoustic was awesome since I didn't go to Vegas. Hearing nothing from Crash and a combined 4 songs from UTTAD and BTCS sucked.

I wasn't complaining about paying 100. I was saying how with a 100$ face ticket. I think the setlist couldve been better. I still had a great time not regretting paying that much at all.
I agree the list could have been a little bit better... aka more older songs... but be thankful you didn't get fvcked over like my gf did for the ticket prices... You paid a THIRD and probably had better seats too :)

They've done that tour. We saw that in 97 and 99. After Some Devil, the setlists changed. Newer songs and solo songs have dominated the setlist for the past 7 years. Expecting anything else is idiotic.

That's exactly what I expected. Not necesarily the "nothing from Crash" part, but I didn't expect more than 5 or so outside of Big Whiskey, Some Devil and Covers.
That's exactly what's been trending with D&T shows. Look at the last release from Vegas.

Well, first day of summer. Sitting here until I go out with some friends after graduation today. What can I say, how can you start Summer any better?
Well actually we all could sit here and just complain about the setlist, or how much we paid for tickets to see said setlist. But instead, ill sit here and tell you how thankful I was to have 10-31 (Allen) get me a ticket the day before the show. I sat in Section R on the top row, and loved every minute of the show. Before the show I met some old friends, and new friends at xChange. After a long day, and driving finally made it there shortly before Allen went to the VIP to grab my ticket. Made it to DAR about 20 minutes before the show started.
Bartender - What you would expect out of an opener for D&T. Rumors around the bar were One Sweet World but I honestly wasn't buying it. The lighting was great, Dave sounded good, solid intro. Overall really put me in the mood for my first d&t show.
Crush-What an amazing acoustic song, and a great way to segway out of Bartender. Vocals sounded good, can't complain. Something you would have expected out of the Vegas cd.
Funny The Way It Is- Standard, I believe they miscued the intro but who cares. Dave was on pat, and they both sounded great. Was really enjoying myself.
Lying In The Hands Of God- Dave I believe warned the crowd of how this song could have gone bad, but I still found it good. First section of the concert I noticed numerous people sprinting to the bathrooms. Maybe you shouldn't have drank that much.
Spaceman-Well, we are on a hardcore BWGGK run, kinda expected, its the most recent album, and hes still trying to sell CD's and promote the CD. Not to mention, some of it is pretty good. I enjoyed it, very good rendition of the song.
Squirm- Can't remember much about this, I believe Dave may have sliped some lyrics into high pitched noises, but who cares. He hasn't played a full load of songs in a while, its alright. Basically what you would hear from the Vegas CD.
Old Dirt Hill- First song that was played that wasn't from the Vegas/Dbl Down CD. Thought they played great, no complaints from it. Maybe would have played a different slow song like 41 here, but hey, im not the one making the $.
Rye Whiskey-I surely would die. Well not exactly. Great song, but im not the greatest fan of Rye Whiskey, but it defiantly got alot of cheers.
Tm Solo-Really, what can you say about this man? He is freaking AMAZING. Felt bad that numerous people again took their second pee break during this time. I was glad he got such a long standing ovation.
Needle And The Damage Done*- I was expecting Gravedigger, but this was interesting. To be honest wasn't exactly sure what he was playing (sorry Neil fans). But it was a good surprise.
Eh Hee- What an amazingly energetic song. Had alot of people standing in the orchestra seating, dancing and having a good time. Sorry if you had to sit behind one of them (i know I would have been mad). But I have to admit I felt kinda crammed up top at times with the small room between seats.
Stay or Leave- Amazing, all I can really say.
Save Me-Still following Vegas, but really. I can't complain. Great song, and it sounded good.
Tim solo- Another amazing, amazing solo. We need to make sure he comes back in 2012.
So Damn Lucky- I was so lucky to hear this. Fell in love with it after N1 Camden last year, im sure others years ago. But hey, im kinda new to the scene. Ill take the heat.
The Maker- Same as above. Was confused about their conversation before the song, but this was the start of their non chatty run. Thought it was a great song throughout.
You And Me- What you would expect, nothing special.
Dancing Nancies- AMAZING, I was so ecstatic. I was hoping we would be lost somewhere in DC, but we were lost in paris. Ohh well. I believe alot of people in the crowd were really feeling this song.
Encore:
Sister- Was expecting Grace is Gone when they said slow song, but what a great song.
Corn Bread- again would have gone elsewhere, but I love cornbread on dbl down, and full band alot. But i think this would have been a good place for DDTW.
Don't Drink the Water- A song I really like, and havn't heard it since Hershey last summer. Was glad to hear it because I love it on my Radio City DVD.
Ants Marching- Amazing way to end the song. Everyone was loving it, everyone was rushing the stage to get pictures. Felt bad for the people in VIP basically all of the encore. Everyone was standing, feeling the music. I mean, it could have been another song, but it was a great fan favorite song that everyone could get into.
Overall what a great experience. I waited like 20 minutes with alot of random people trying to see if Dave would leave. Tim came out for a little and waved. Had someone tell me that he can't talk that loud. I almost wanted to be like "I think we all know that, or we wouldn't be here" but hey, i just kept my mouth shut and played dumb. Found some very nice people and asked to walk back to the metro with them ( I had no clue where to go). Made it home around 2:30.
Overall, best experience of my life. Overall (not all dave) concert number 24 for myself at the age of 21.
The number can only go up and raise. I hope you all enjoyed the show as much as I did, and for those that want to keep bitching about the setlist, think about the people who sat here and updated the setlist because they COULDNT go. Be happy you were in the building.
I would like to add, funny stories. Some dumb comments. Dave did flick off the stage. Funny. I missed his picture face, any one get a picture of it.
The shut your face thing went on too long, and the players club was funny, but unnecessary.

I don't remember seeing anyone upset or disappointed at the show. Seemed everyone was happy there. What changed?
And there it is. A lot of the flaming is coming from those not at the show. I'm sure the majority of those in attendance would say they are more than satisfied. Maybe the people who spent 4-5times face value have something to be upset at, mostly themselves. But, I would easily pay face for a D&T show with this setlist.

And how was the meet and greet? Haven't heard anything about it
It was good. They really had to rush people thru so that everyone could get a photo. I was able to say something to Dave, Jane, and Tim but my sis and husband didn't get a chance as they moved us along. But how else do you photo shoot 200 people in a few minutes? JGI staff were great to talk to, anx the snacks and drinks were good. The reception area was nice and the hour and a half flew by! When they were ushering Dave out I requested "Sister".

i had a great time in washington DC itself, the sight seeing, the bars before and after. and hotel we stayed at wasa very nice with great buffet breakfest this morning. the good songs that were played were good, but overall the show just lacked something.
i had a great little 2 days seeing D&T for the first time, but much more was desired. nothing from crash is just abysmal. the BW songs didnt even bug me and i love timmys solo stuff. eh hee, ODH, sister, cornbread and the covers just have to disappear. im not there to see that shit.
as i stated, after this year im more than happy to take a break from this. if im a debbie downer, then so be it. im a paying customer and i can state opinions. dave never maxes out potential anymore. and its sickening.

A lot has been said but I'll give my perspective. There are a few points I really want to drive home though and look forward to the responses because this thread has exemplified some stuff that although I thought was quite obvious, to some it isn't.
We were lucky enough to get some great seats from a fellow Ant after not getting them thru WH. This was my 76th show, not looking for an award put that number and the 10 year period I’ve seen them over gives me a pretty good perspective on a lot of things. Despite it being a tough ticket to get and tons of ebay/stubhub people that I’m sure some were WH tickets...it goes to show you that if you look hard enough on the boards, you may just luck out and find a cool person who will sell you a ticket or pair for face value. I heard 10+ people around me talking about how they paid 300, 700, +, etc...which is one thing if you got the VIP, ORCH seats and it went to a good cause not a ticket broker.
Dave really sounded great and played great as well. The interaction with the crowd was hysterical as usual and thats part of what you go for. The set is posted on DMB almanac we can debate the length and such separately. First off though anyone thinking that the stories cut into the set I think you’re wrong, he played the number of songs he planned even with the crowd banter. Second, I'll say it again, a big part of a Dave and Tim shows, is the Dave Speak and the crowd interaction, or revelry as Dave called it early in the show when he said something along the lines of "I welcome whatever kind of revelry y'all have when I'm over there but when Jane is speaking please close your mouths."
I have seen 5 Dave & Tim shows and to be honest the first 4 are so ridiculous that this one had to have some insane stuff to come near them but nonetheless it was still really awesome! The other 4 I've seen are
3/28/03 Winston Salem NC
(http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.aspx?id=453055956&tid=70&where=2003)3/29/03 Boone, NC
(http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.aspx?id=453055957&tid=70&where=2003)4/20/07 Wang Theater
4/21/07 Amherst Mass
Someone in this thread posted that you will never see D&T shows like 2003 EVER again. I really don't think this is true. Its all relative to what you are expecting and what mood Dave is in. You really never know what your going to get. 3/28/03 has a partial of Watermelon Smilin' on the Vine, played 12 times ever! It wasn't on the set that night. One of those shows Dave talks about his cousin hitting a cow with his Porsche (I wonder if thats the same cousin that has the wedding album with Dave's silly face that he talked about last night), after 7 years that still sticks out in my mind because of how random it was. 3/28/03 & 3/29/03 are both really amazing shows and are in a league of there own. Having said that, those sets are not out of the question if Dave wanted to swap out a few songs. He could easily play any of those 2003 D&T sets, drop Where Are You Going, Gravedigger, When the World Ends, and swap out one of 2 others and make these Big Whiskey songs, there you have you set. It can be done very easily.
Look at last night for example, just changing 5 songs out, not adding to the length, this show would of been VERY different.
Bartender
Crush
Funny the Way It Is
Lying in the Hands of God
Spaceman
Lie In Our Graves
Proudest Monkey
Rye Whiskey
Tim Solo
Needle and the Damage Done
Eh he
Stay or Leave
Save Me
Tim Solo
So Damn Lucky
The Maker
Nancies
Warehouse
Shake Me Like A Monkey
Crash
Don't Drink the Water
Ants Marching
A few things to note about the above set, this is in no way my ideal set, its more just a realistic one based on what Dave played last night. it still has the same number of BW songs that Dave played, same number of overall songs, and kept intact the core of the set. But just swapping out the few bolded songs would of make a ton of difference.
Going back to what someone mentioned about never getting 2003 D&T sets again, if this is this case and we don't see them, even one day off in the distance....it's because of the fans. I am not knocking anyone here personally but have to point it out. The casual fan or person that wants to hear a song that can be played any night of the week gets in Dave's head and it has an effect on him. Again, not knocking anyone personally as I have requested many of songs from the band over the years, but they tend to be more on the rare side. When people request songs like Where Are You Going, Sister, Cornbread, etc...it does nothing to help the setlist. Quite frankly the odds on Dave playing one of these 3 is so off the charts to begin with that its pointless to ask him. No guarantees and I wasn't at the Meet & Greet, but perhaps if a bunch of people asked for Best of Whats Around, The Stone, or Pay For What You Get (insert any rare but reasonable request here), then we might of gotten it. Last summer at one show I was at, I can't remember where but I think it was N1 Alpine Dave says, I wasn't gonna play this one tonight but someone requested it today, and he proceeds to play Funny the Way It Is. Case in point. Meanwhile people continue to bring signs and ask for sporadically songs like Crazy Easy, Let You Down, Spoon, Sweet Up & Down, etc. and they go unplayed. Part of this I really believe is due to the requests for these other songs that keep them in Dave's head and therefore on the setlist. Don't get me wrong Cornbread is definitely a fun live song and Sister beautiful, but we don't need them every night ala Can't Stop, Where Are You Going, etc.
I know there was some people asking Stefan on Twitter about a Dave, Tim, & Stefan show and he said he would love to do one and that you'd get another Before These Crowded Streets. I could only imagine what kind of set Stefan might be able to convince him to play if they really ever did a show like that again. He did do it once remember that so it could happen one day.
Overall it was a great night. The crowd really gave Jane a warm welcome and treated her with respect and she seemed to appreciate the love from an audience that was so different from her normal ones. Dave was in rare form as usual and the Davespeak was great. They sounded fantastic. We didn't get the rare songs we were hoping for but I'll still hold out for them. Despite what many think I expect this tour to be great. I expect to see plenty of people upset with the repeats and BW songs, but also expect to see people raving about SPAC, Citi Field, West Palm, and a bunch of other shows throughout the tour for energy of the show as well as the setlist. I really believe we will get a decent amount of rare tunes this summer, just not every night.
Oh and one other thing, the set lists Gravedigger as the encore closer and Ants Marching was not on the setlist. The Ants closer was awesome and everyone loved it. Lets not forget that. The show definitely ended on a high note!

When you have something insightful to say feel free to quote me again, but if you are going to throw one liners out that tell us nothing then don't bother. Im sorry also were you there last night because I didn't read a review from you.
And to answer your reply, I can't say thats the reason he plays them, only Dave knows. He likes them obviously. He also loves Sweet Up and Down too, but that one came back briefly and then left the sets. But again asking for a song that he is going to play anyway is a wasted request in my opinion. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion and thats mine. And to further my point as much as we all love to think us hard core fans are the dominant portion of the fan base, the smart ones of us here know thats not the case, we just wish is were true. I can site so many example over the years of hearing people ask Dave for songs that he was playing every night that tour. This may also be part of the reason why we see the Sister, Cornbread, Too Much, released over and over on different cd's.
Ive never seen a bad show, and I will keep seeing shows as long as they play them. I will always appreciate what they give us but also will ALWAYS hope for the best possible scenario!
