Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds to Perform a Benefit for the Jane Goodall Institue – Washington DC – May 20, 2010
We are pleased to announce that Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will perform A Benefit for the Jane Goodall Institute on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. The benefit concert is part of a year-long celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Jane Goodall’s work. Throughout the 50th anniversary year, the Jane Goodall Institute will celebrate Dr. Goodall’s illustrious career, the rich legacy of the Gombe research in Tanzania, East Africa and the many answers Gombe has yet to reveal.
In the 50 years since Dr. Jane Goodall first set foot on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in what is now Tanzania’s Gombe National Park, the research she pioneered there has produced a font of scientific discovery. The impact of the Gombe research spans the globe and covers a wide range of scientific disciplines, including human evolution, ethology, anthropology, behavioral psychology, sociology, conservation, disease transmission (including HIV-AIDS), aging and geospatial mapping. Additional information on the work of the Jane Goodall Institute may be found at www.janegoodall.org (http://www.janegoodall.org/)
TICKETING INFORMATION FOR THE BENEFIT FOR THE JANE GOODALL INSTITUTE
Tickets for the Benefit for the Jane Goodall Institute are $95 plus a $1.50 facility fee and applicable convenience, handling and shipping. Actually, now that I think about it, it'll almost certainly be a TM ticket -- I have much better luck through them (doesn't help that I've been a WH member for like 9 months, lol).
I'll just use the money i WAS going to spend on a Mark Knopfler ticket, on this instead :lol :lol :lol

I think its a nice place to see a show. It has a unique feel to it since its not like a standard "theatre" venue (think Beacon Theatre). But it is small and from what I remember very intmate feeling.

I really dont think they have a standard. they just do whatever. I've been in since 99 and have never managed to figure out the method to their madness.
I know they 'claim' getting tickets is a lottery, but I have a hard time buying that sometimes.

I don't think so... it's not like, for instance, the Pete Seeger event at MSG during the spring where there was a metric shit-ton of artists performing; it's only Dave & Tim here.

these responses regarding warehouse are confusing for me, and i know how the system works. i'll try and spell it out.
there are two steps to the ticketing process:
1. your ticket request being selected to receive tickets
2. seat assignment
step 1 is always and has always been via lottery. no matter when you joined, everyone has an equal chance of being selected to receive tickets.
step 2 can be based on seniority or can be a second lottery. if its seniority, the people who have been in the warehouse get the best seats (people in the shortest get the worst). if its a second lottery, they randomly pick requests and match them with seats, and no matter your join date you could sit anywhere.
most two night stands are seniority n1 and random n2 (not always though). one night stands generally are seniority.

Welcome to Ants!
It depends who you talk to. For some people its superstition and that they have never been denied when they get a temp charge.
It really can come down to the bank. Some banks will post it, while others won't. If you do have it, it is a good sign because it means you didn't fuck up filling out the form. Before running the lottery to see who gets tickets, the Warehouse will post the charges to make sure your account will accept them. If they don't, you're out of the lottery. Like I previously said though, it depends on the bank whether it will show up online and if so at one point.

I found the Richmond show earlier. Let me take a look and see where it was.
Edit: Alright, if you search 1993-01-27 in "Dave Matthews Band 1993" it will be on the page with 61-75, 5th up from the bottom (and its up to 6 seeders-which will probably increase with it being a DMB Live Release). I'd link you but if you're not signed in, it won't do you any good.

Thanks! Been reading for awhile, just never made the leap. Always have loved DMB, but joining Ants and a run of great shows this summer (DTE, Nissan, Camden N2) have solidfied my obsession! Praying to snag a ticket on Thursday! The temp charges appears on my card as a "pending" transaction.

Thats a good sign. You at least passed the hurdle.
These tickets are likely going to be tough to come by so I'm praying I get one too. It'd be the first D&T show for me.

pending charges. yes.
however, we all went through this with vegas ticketing. a lot of us got pending charges for all three nights, then none, then charges for one night. and we all ended up with tickets for one night out of the three.. so it's a crap shoot. but pending charges let me know i didn't screw anything up

Thats what it goes to once they start running the process. Its exactly what it states. They are processing the requests right now.
Once processing is complete, your order will switch from “processing” to “confirmed” (your order was chosen to be fulfilled and tickets are guaranteed) or “declined” (we were not able to fulfill your order due to high demand and limited availability or a problem with your credit card).

Pending usually doesn't mean much other then you filled out the forms correctly. My band shows them sometimes and doesn't sometimes, depends on how slow the bank is.
This show is for 3700 seats, I wonder if the WH got any more then 500 to lottery.
Anyone know if this is seniority after you actually get selected?

Most likely. Most one night stands are.
For this place, if you get tix, it doesn't really matter.

While it is a smaller venue - the floor seating can be awkward - as there is no slope up as you move away from the stage (correct me if I'm wrong) but if you're in the last row on the floor - you are on the same level as the people in the front row. It's almost better to be seated up on the sides because you have some elevation. (almost like anytime they've done a stadium show but at a much smaller venue)
I saw David Gray here a number of years ago - and it was odd because people wanted to stand up to watch (it wasn't an acoustic show) but the venue really makes you feel like you should be seated for the performance (which should be nice for the D&T show)

Ants who are going to this show should meet up at the Old Ebbitt Grill before the show!!! I went there over the summer while I was in D.C., and it was awesome! For all of you tourist and history buffs out there, the venue is extremely close to the White House, Lincoln Memorial, and Washington Moument.
In terms of a pre-show meet up, I would not recommend Old Ebbit, its a great place, but kind of pricy. There is a dive/sports bar that is closer on 4 blocks away that is called The Exchange.

Crazy only because of the size of venue and the fact that DAR already probably gave members tickets (thats a guess, could be completely wrong).

Sorry man - member since 12/5/98 - and confirmed.
But hey - at least you have $100 - $200 extra for the holidays (if you're into that stuff). I have to tell my niece "sorry... but your Uncle got D&T tickets.. you enjoy that tshirt I just got you from the Sheetz gas station instead of the wii video games I would have gotten you."

ticketmaster will probably be crazy and a little slow, just make sure you're already signed in before 10am and ready to go. i'm actually gonna try and get tix for my buddy who isn't a WH member and can't try cause of work and i'm pretty confident i'll be able to pull 2 for him and his gf

honestly i think WH does it as best as they can. for certain shows that are tough tickets like this or beacon what can they do? its not someones fault if they were 7 years old when WH opened or got into the band a little later in life. just because someone is a day 1 member doesn't mean they are a better fan. i know a bunch of kids that are day 1 members that are kind of dmb/song snobs and i would rather have newer fans that will dance their ass off in the front.
i think for the tough tickets its a good system that actually getting a ticket is random but once confirmed the seating is done by seniority.
that being said, i can understand someone being upset if they were a 12/98 member and got declined. its just a tough situation cause there is no "fair" scenario.

Its all lottery. And for some reason (don't know if the computers like the newer numbers better or?) newer members usually do well in the lotteries.
And with that place, there's not a bad seat in the house. So seniority doesn't hurt you at all.

Also, think about it this way: if confirmations and seating were both done by seniority, then newer members would never get tickets for shows like this one... eliminating the incentive to join. They are trying to make money after all and this is probably the system that best balances the need to reward old members while attracting new ones.
I joined in 2003 to get D+T tickets and got them. I didn't re-new but I re-joined recently to request tickets for this show. This time I didn't get tickets. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't get lucky. We'll see what the Ticketmaster gods have in store for me at 10 am.

I had 4 WH accounts set up for Beacon and got denied on every one. Granted the DAR is almost 900 more seats, I'd say it's about right.

I could get two, in section fucking V or A. Bullshit. I let them go because im not paying 111 a ticket for that, to stare at the side of the stage probably BEHIND D & T.
I'v heard this venue is terrible too if you don't have decent orchestra seats or like Section C. So, as much as I want to see D & T. Ticketbastard fucked me over.

Took a pair in Section A very far down, all the way on the aisle next to B. Looking at the photos/seating chart, these should be just fine (probably "obstructed" like some of the pretty great seats at Alpine are listed as the same).

I bought the obstructed view... have had obstructed view at shows throughout the years and only one time has it truly sucked. It's actually sometimes fun to see a different perspective and/or watch the people in the front rows - probably especially at an event like this.
