View Full Version : What's the deal with 2010?

What's up ants? I've been in Asia for the last couple years, and apparently I've missed out on a couple of the best tours ever, from what I've read here. I plan to come back to the US for about a month in 2010, but I'm waiting until summer tour dates are announced before I book my tickets.
So, as I haven't been very active here in a while, I was wondering if someone could answer a few questions for me.
When were the Spring 2009 tour dates announced, and what are the odds of a Spring 2010 tour? I'm assuming slim-to-none as last year was the lead-up to Big Whiskey, and there is the European tour in March.
Help me remember when summer tour dates are usually announced, I feel like it normally occurs in mid-February.
And finally, has the East coast supplanted Missouri as the start-off point for the summer tour? It seems that the last few tours have started out there, but before I left home, it was always Missouri.

Last year the Spring Tour dates were announced in mid-December. Based on everything I have heard, a Spring 2010 tour will not be happening, and it's not a regular occurrence anyway. It happened last year only because of the album.
Last year the Summer Tour dates were announced sometime in February, however they have been known to come out in March. Who knows when it will be this year, though, because of the European tour.
As far as locations go, I can't really tell you. In 08 they started in Pittsburgh, and last year they started at Fenway Park in Boston.

Thank you. I'm looking at coming back around mid-May for my brother's 21st, and plan to stay until around early June. I know the summer tour normally starts around last week of May, so that's when I figure to see them this year, wherever they start off at.
I try to see the band in as many different venues/cities/states as I can, and I'm hoping to catch them in Philadelphia/Camden as I've never been out there before. I've never seen them in Missouri either, but I feel like a road trip to Philly/DC would be more fun than Missouri. Maybe I'm wrong though.

there won't be a spring tour because they'll be in europe until mid march. they're not going to start in april again like they did last year and tour through oct.
summer dates likely won't be announced until late feb-march. the start of the tours have been changing, but the flow of the tour is still fairly similar. its usually been northeast, southeast, west coast. a few oddities here and there like camden and scranton being after the gorge this past year. but there were still a lot of northeast shows in june and july like usual.

Well I can't be sure, but given that they're spending the early part of next year in Europe, there are rumors that this tour may start late like it did in 2007; it would start late and go into the fall. We won't really know until the dates come out though. :)

I would be crushed if that happens. 2007 killed me, since I moved out in Sep. '07, I was only able to make it to 4 shows that year.

I'm going through withdrawals, I need to see the Big Whiskey songs live in 2010. I need an early summer tour. I have to go see when this European tour is happening.

mid feb - mid march
i also heard that rumor of the tour starting later. but i also heard a rumor of it starting late spring like normal. and i believe there is a rumor for SPAC to be the first weekend in june. also rumors of alpine early july, and scranton in mid-july and i highly doubt they'd start a tour in alpine. i'd be leaning towards a regular start to the tour.

Ha, sorry, I didn't mean to sound like a shmuck there. I went to a lot of shows in 2005/2006, and would have gone to several more in 2007 had the tour started in May.
I hope that SPAC rumor is true, I've never made it out there, and I've heard it's one of the best venues to see DMB.

lol it's okay, I'm just mad because I got to see a grand total of ZERO shows in '07.
Closest one geographically to me was Blossom, toyed with the idea of going... and by the looks of it, I made the right decision by deciding not to:

I was at that one, and yeah, you didn't miss much. I like the Blossom amphitheatre though, it's worth going down there sometime if you can catch a show there.

2007 was indeed harsh. I didn't get to see any shows in that year.
