heinz field is pretty big for them to be playing in the middle of PA. PNC makes alot more sense and would be a nice setup

It's not a good concert venue, IMO.
I also don't think it actually would hold any more people than Star Lake. I think Star Lake holds 25k. PNC holds 35k, but the stage set up probably makes 10 to 15k of those useless.
I'm also not a big fan of spending 90 dollars on a ticket that could lead to me getting soaking wet.

My bad if I'm wrong. I didn't mean to upset. I have friends that work for both PNC and Heinz and they said it was moved to Heinz. So if I'm wrong I apologize. I just wanted to spread my the word to my fellow DMB Yinzers

PNC makes a lot more sense than Heinz, but Star Lake makes the most sense.

I forget the road numbers, but you want to start off going West rather than south.
You can then either take 60 to 22 keep going east to 18 which runs right into Star Lake.
79 and 22 sucks big time on concert nights. When I lived in Steuebenville my girlfriend lived off of the Mt. Nebo exit on 79N. A 40 minute drive could sometimes turn into several hours.

DMB + Steelers is a combination of epic proportions for me.
the first time i make the trek to heinz should probably be for a steelers game though
if they did play heinz though and it was somehow within a few days of SPAC, i'd be there since i'm already going to SPAC no matter what

that is such a random mascot for a PA school to use. a Jayhawk is a mythical bird, and the term Jayhawk was a term used to describe a group of people that fought in Kansas during the Civil War. I have no idea how Jeannette came to use that as their mascot. and no, i don't know Pryor. :lol

I think PNC would be a cool venue to do with the city skyline in outfield. Amphitheater > stadium obviously, but PNC is the best stadium in MLB, I think. And if they can play New Busch in St. Louis (which is a great stadium also), I'd love to go to a show at PNC. Heinz Field is more disappointing just because the view isn't as good.
I love Star Lake, but I'd much rather have a show in the city anyway coming from Harrisburg. I'm looking forward to when a winter or spring tour comes through the Consol Center anyway.

i was not thrilled (to say the least) when this rumour reared its ugly head last year, but then it ended up not happening. hoping it falls thru again this year, but it seems to have a lot more validity now than it did last year. *sigh*
i guess we'll see what actually happens when dates come out.

i was going to say the same thing it was brought up last year and never came to fruition and do not feel it will happen being the pirates come back to town that monday so who knows. Normally even when the stones came through years ago they did it when they first left and had a whole week for set up and break down same with bruce..... Just a though

if this is seriously at heinz or pnc they it would be completely stupid... Star Lake is one of the best venues out there and after the shows he played there last yr i cant see them going to a frickin stadium and only 1 night... that would be even more bullshit... i just hope none of this is true and we all get the 2 nights at star lake like usual and how it should be... im not lookin to spend 90 bucks on a ticket and be in nosebleed sections... sorry to every11 that likes the ideas of pnc or heinz but i think it would ruin the DMB experience... one night and at a stadium would be complete hell

It's going to be at PNC park. It's not a bad place for a concert at all. I'm all for a change of venue. Hell I've been going to starlake since 02. Down to one night sucks, but that weekend is opened since the buccos are out of town.

I really hope they play at starlake this year for the usual 2 nights. I went for a Jimmy Buffet concert at PNC a few years back and it was horrible. That stadium just isn't a good place for concerts with a stage. The only reason id be happy if they do it at PNC is if they go for 2 nights.

a show at pnc would be great for the city. i was at the three rivers stadium concert jul. 3 2000 (the last show at three rivers before it was torn down), and it was a fantastic show, probably still in my top 4 or 5 shows i've been to since 98. pnc will be much better than heinz for a rock concert, and imagine the backdrop at such a beautiful stadium! people will complain no matter what happens. so let's just enjoy whatever happens, especially since starlake got one of the best, if not the best, shows of 09. i'm sure they'll put on a great show. anything is better than when they skipped pittsburgh altogether in 2001.

As much as driving out to Star Lake annoys me, I really am not thrilled with a Heinz Field OR PNC rumor. :(
I will admit the 3 Rivers show was great. But, I saw Jimmy Buffett a few years back at PNC and it was the worst. show. ever. (comments regarding the artist aside - I enjoy some Jimmy once in a while). The sound sucked so bad, I left early. To compare, I was very close floor for 3 Rivers. I was like last row of the 100 level seats for Jimmy. Unless you're close, the sound / stage set up stinks when it comes to ball parks and stadiums - in my opinion.
I did look at the SpringHill Suites to look @ room rates for the day (to speculate on any truth behind the rumor. Higher rates = something is going on) and there are no rooms available on July 10. VERY odd given there are no sporting events on the North Shore that day. Maybe there is something to this .....

Post Gazette isn't the best place to see a show due to getting there and in/out of the parking lots BUT I would much rather do 2 nights at PG than 1 night at PNC Park or Heinz Field. HF is waaaayyyy too big and I heard the sound isn't that good there. I saw the Stones at PNC Park and it wasn't that bad, but still it is huge.

I never had trouble getting out of there, but I always parked across the bridge. I'd be on the other side of the tunnel within 5 minutes of getting in my car.
