chanting songs that they CAN'T play is one thing. the Last Stop chants are pretty pointless, although it does make Dave think about the song. but chanting for a song they can actually pull out at any moment can work. italy got Everyday because the crowd was singing the honey honeys. they can easily play Warehouse if they wanted to, being that they never got a Warehouse chant before and its not The Last Stop, maybe they would oblige us.
True, the point I was trying to make was that lately you can't please anyone on these boards either way.

So are all pit GA tickets the same? In the past, there was the regular pit, but there was also Pit 101 and pit 103. They don't exist anymore, do they?
i think those are all combined into one giant pit area. i heard that the pit is stretching across the entire front of the stage, not just the box that it used to be.

We got Halloween last year beacuse of the chants so they do work just has to be songs they have already practiced. Good good time chant!
halloween was on the setlist

and i also dont feel like sitting through another squirm opener. i was bored as fuck last year at hershey.
hershey's squirm was real laid back, not powerful at all...SPAC's was completely different and really made me consider squirm a solid opener

ya, halloween was definitely not on the setlist, but the chant wasn't that strong either. i don't even remember hearing one that night. i think it was just they felt the urge to play it during the show.

I didn't remember Halloween being on the setlist either and it clearly was not. It was chanted so loud last year and got Watchtower bumped, thankfully. I'm all for a Good Good Time this year!
Pit in Hartford was big, but was awesome. I got in around 7:20 for N2 and was about 20 yards from Dave with a perfect sightline left center perpendicular to his guitar. You do not need to wait in line for hours, unless it is worth it for you to be 10-12 yards closer to the stage. Love the pit GA idea this year.

I'll probably just be tail gating at Camden this year due to funds and the shows falling in the middle of the week. N2 last yr was amazing!! I opted for Hershey this year, wanted to try a new venue, its a Friday and booked 2 nights at the campground nearby. Reading this thread is making me sad though :( Camden is my home venue and apparently way better than Hershey in most posters opinions.
Anyhow to those of you considering staying in Philly I would consider Cherry Hill or somewhere in Jersey, much less expensive and you dont have to cross the bridge.

Ehhh I kinda figured that but I'm also getting too old to go to shows mid week and still make it into work the next morning.
I'm always up for a new experience though even if it becomes a learning experience. I say F*ck it, I'm still gonna have fun no matter what!
Oh and I'll be back at Camden 2 days after Hershey for G-Love and Jack Johnson :)

The venue itself is awesome -- great sightlines and sound anywhere in the pavilion, and the lawn isn't a terrible view either (sound gets suspect though).
However, do not go into Camden itself. Like, at all. Seriously. You won't come back.

but not THAT far away from the venue. you got like 1/2-1 mile to get your shit together in the car when you leave the venue before you start hitting the bad parts. best thing to do it park in the venue lot (i believe its on MLK Blvd) and then just take that road out to the highway after the show.

Hey experienced lawners! What is the "best" spot on the lawn at this venue? I hate those drunk fools who are constantly walking around, looking for ass instead of listening to some great music. I'll be doing my fair share of drinking, don't get me wrong, but I'm going to see a top-notch band and dance my arse off.
All die hard Dave fans who are on the lawn should unify and congregate on one area of the lawn.

I went last year both nights and was on the lawn both nights and had no issue with drunk idiots. The lawn there is very nice because it doesn't get too packed and you can see from anywhere, and that means a lot coming from me cuz I'm only about 5' 2". The first night there was a baseball game in Philly, right across the river, so when the game was over we could see the fireworks from the lawn while Dave was playing! It was awesome!!! :D

i would crotch it to be safe. it is in the city of Camden after all. i would think they would still be fairly strict with going through bags. however, once inside, they don't care. last year i saw people standing right next to security down in the 100s taking pictures during the show. i think at one point one of the security members actually took a camera to take a picture for someone.

Hey, I've been there every year for a decade, and let me tell you, it's tough. Security has gotten worse every year (and by worse, I mean unnecessary harassment of innocent people), to the point that I wrote a letter to Live Nation and the SBC about how outrageously inappropriate it was. Never got a response, at all...shocker.
My advice: Do what you want, but save it for a good moment. You'll likely get one warning, from one person. Beyond that I can't guarantee anything. If the wrong douche bag sees you, be prepared to be manhandled if you're breaking any of the asinine rules.

Some of the hotels on 38 and 70 are only about 2-3 miles from the venue. Is this a walkable road for that distance, or not really?
Asking cause I've read on here the surrounding area isn't all that great, so I wasn't sure if these stretches of road included that? Thanks.

Definitely, definitely NOT.
It seems "close by", but it's not by any means, and walking that trip would put you at high risk of being killed. I'm not mincing words because your life is more important than a convenient way of getting to a hotel.
My suggestion, park at the hotel, and get a cab to and from the venue. It's not that difficult, and will save you from making a huge mistake.

Rts 38 and 70 are 4/6 lane highways with cars going about 60mph and no sidewalks. they are definitely not walkable roads.
also, taking the ferry over from philly can lead to a very long wait getting back. last year i waited for 90 minutes just to get back across the river. easiest thing to do is drive and park in the venue lot or take a cab.

Haha, DO take everyone's advice, while not walkable, definitely a decent driveable distance, I've been staying in that area for 10 years, as long as someone is sober & you make outta the lots, you'll be back to your hotel in no time.

last year i noticed a private party type thing up on the deck in the lawn that overlooks philly. IF that's the VIP club i would say no f'n way.

Warehouse tickets. Both of the Tickets we bought of the hub are fakes. We needed an extra pit for each night.

Hey Camden locals! My husband and I are driving in from pittsburgh for our first camden shows. We are going both night. We are looking for some cool things to do Thursday before the show. Any tips or suggestions would be great. We are staying in cherry hill. Are the any decent zoos around? Is the aquarium worth the money? Also any advice on where to park for the shows, as far as safety, proximity to venue, and ease of exit after the show. Thanks in advance for your hospitality.

you could always just go around philly and look at stuff.
i've done the camden aquarium a couple times. not a bad way to spend a couple hours, but you can't waste an entire day in there. they have a shark petting tank. and no, its not like a great white that you pet. they have these little brown sharks that are like 2 feet long and they swim around in the tank. its only like 3 feet deep, and they always swim around the edges. its pretty cool.
as for parking, just park in the venue lot on MLK Blvd. that takes you right to 38/70 and towards Cherry Hill.

According to Spoot the ferry is the worst thing ever because he had a bad experience the one time he used it (Camden N1 '09), but speaking as someone who's been using it for several years for shows at Camden I think it's great. The only bad experience I've had was the same one he did. I took it after N2 and had zero problems.

i will never take the ferry again.
i got in line at like 530 and was lucky to make it there by the opening act. and there were a TON of people behind me. some of them probably missed the start of the show. and on the way back, i left before the encore was even over and there was already a 90 minute wait. and there were a shit ton of people behind me then too. its also like $7 person. its quicker, and really not much more expensive to just drive over and park in the lot.

i was also told to "haul ass" when the show ended to make sure i got on quick. so if going at an average pace = a several hour wait, then no thanks. however, the 2nd night, when i parked in the venue lot, i was out so quickly after the show that i had to be stopped by the cops to let the band's bus through.

I've taken the ferry and never had a problem. If you can purchase your tickets in advance you can pretty much jump right on. After the show you should definitely get to the ferry as quickly as possible or you're gonna be in for a wait.

You do realize that a one-time experience doesn't mean the same thing happens every time, right? The only reason N1 was a mess was because the encore was terrible and a huge number of people left the show as soon as Time Bomb started. N2 I stayed until the very end of Halloween and got on the first boat back. I also stayed through Phish's entire encore at Camden last summer, which was almost 30 minutes long, and I made the first boat easily.
And it was not a 90 minute wait unless you also missed the second boat, because I got on the second boat and it took about 40 minutes.

^Nothing like Hartford. Camden actually has pretty legit lots all surrounding the venue/the neighboring streets. Whereas Hartford you're on private lots.
I've never been to Scranton, but Camden is my home venue and have always been pleased. Plus if you went to N2 it would probably be a better set than a one night stand.

Yeah, the tailgating is a definite party scene. If that's what you're asking. Hartford I think has a little bigger lawn, but Camden is also very big. If you're in the lawn anything goes like usual.

I did get the AA's right on the end seat 1 & 2. Looking at the Full House Seating chart the rows look a bit wider because I think they usually are sold as handicap accessible seating, but I guess not N2. I so excited we got the aisle seats 1 & 2 closes to section 103. We sat there last year and it was great!

We sat in 100 last year for n1 and it was good. We were like in H 2 seats away from the aisle closer to 101. There were some older folks who sat the whole show that were some debbie downers, but I think you have that at every show. We are sitting N1 in 202C dead center right next to the sound board, we sat there a few years back and oh man it was awesome!!

pretty much anything that could go wrong for this trip IS. everybody i've asked to go has backed out on me, so i have extra tickets i can't get rid of. i don't have a place to stay, and i barely have any money as of right now. so if anybody is willing to take me in after N1, i would greatly appreciate it. i don't need a bed. the floor is fine. i just really dont want to be stuck sleeping in my car in the camden area.

pretty much anything that could go wrong for this trip IS. everybody i've asked to go has backed out on me, so i have extra tickets i can't get rid of. i don't have a place to stay, and i barely have any money as of right now. so if anybody is willing to take me in after N1, i would greatly appreciate it. i don't need a bed. the floor is fine. i just really dont want to be stuck sleeping in my car in the camden area.

i'd love to help you out but i'm commuting back and forth from my family's beach house for these shows. it's my mom's vacation and she won't even let my non-immediate fam stay over :mad
do you know anyone down at the south jersey shore? or in that area? i'd be more than willing to provide you with a ride.

I have a question for you Camden Veterans...if ya don't mind
What do you know about the "VIP Parking" being sold on ebay, like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/1-1-PARKING-PASS-Dave-Matthews-Band-6-30-Susquehanna-Ba-/380226814607?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Tickets_all_in_one&hash=item588748c28f

Is this legit? There is no mention of any specific lot. It almosts seems to good to be true??? We have never been to Camden before and we are very nervous over the parking situation. I have also never seen mention of any type of VIP parking on Ticketbastard/Livenation, or even on here for that matter. BUT, if this is a legit offer, it would sure calm my nerves about parking if I had prepaid tix to a designated "VIP" area that I know is safe/close.
Any thoughts....
s0628711
06-22-2010, 07:06 PM
^ don't know anything about the VIP parking situation there, but I can tell you this much. If you get there early enough to get into the main lots (2B, Campbell's Field) you are very safe. They are both basically attached to the venue, and nothing but other cars surrounds you. It's when you get there late and are forced into the overflow lots that things look a little sketchier. But if you are with the rest of the flow of people, you're totally fine anyway. Camden gets bad when you can't find your way back to the Turnpike.
EDIT: Does anyone here know what the public parking situation is like in Philly? I'm meeting my friends at the hotel and want to leave my car somewhere for the entirety, but I also want to have a car when I get back to it. I just don't want to pay the hotel $20+ per day to leave it there. Any info is awesome.

For all your philly parking questions SEPTA is tough on metered parking. Just pay the meater every hour and u will be good. Some parts in old city r 24 hour meatered parking. Just read the signs before u leave your car. Don't want to end up in the city impound yard. You'll be the next star of parking wars!

there is one lot outside the venue that is "VIP" only... it guarantees you won't be in the crappy campbell's lot. I've been going to camden 8 years now and I might actually do VIP one night this year.

I know last year it was in the lot next to the venue somewhat in the back in row R or T I think, it was across the street from some townhouses and we were close to the exit and the dumpster. That's about all I remember haha We just happened to be parked next to everyone and someone had the antsmarching flag so I'm not sure. That's where our group will be this year, we have a ton of cool, chill people and most of us our ants. It's one of the best places to tailgate cuz it's close and the cops pretty much leave you alone.

I forgot to mention that you do have to get there pretty early to be in that lot though. Probably around 4 at the latest. We got there later the first night and had to park in some lot like a couple blocks from the venue in downtown Camden, not a fun place to be walking to your car late at night. Some black guy grabbed my little sister's arm and asked her if she wanted any coke!!! :eek so def try to get there early!

With #40 tease (which apparently included carter, and looked like was going to be full until a fight broke out and ruined it), typical situation tease, and Halloween... I think Camden is going to get some great, great tunes.
We are the next two nighter, right before Alpine, and arguably Camden is starting the second leg of the tour.
In the last week or so, sets have certainly gotten stronger, and changes made to setlists have all been good - no more Road, Cornbread getting a mini break, adding halloween, teasing songs and reacting to signs in the pit - clearly Dave wants to mix things up a bit.
annnnnd one week til blast off... cannot wait!

My gf and I are old farts and don't plan on elbowing our way up. My gf is all of 4 foot 10 inches. Is she going to be stuck looking at the back of somebody's head all night?

i'm curious how this pit will compare to hartford?
if it is similar, there was a nice slope to the hartford pit enabling good viewing. wasn't packed at all from about 13 "rows" back. people were not pushy at all from what i could see at N1. assuming the 4' 10" is not attributable to osteoporosis, i think you guys will be fine. i'm no youngster myself and i'm doing five pits at five shows this year.

you need to take the river line to camden city hall or broadway then transfer down to PATCO and take it back to the city. The riverline does NOT go across the bridge. Only around the river in camden!!

the ferry is from Philly to Camden...so you park around Penn's Landing...hop on the boat and head to Camden. It's easier...you're not in Camden longer than you have to be after the concert...which blows. Last year I sat in the parking lot and counted the rats coming up from the river...while waiting to get out...:BANG

N1 pair: Section 203 Row E: $150 shipped
N2 pair: Section 200 Row J: $150 shipped
I will overnight the tickets tomorrow if you PayPal today, so you would get them either Saturday or Monday. Or I could meet you at the venue...
PM me if interested or email LukeWestParsons@gmail.com
Thanks and cheers.

The R.V. has plenty of sleeping space, bathroom, shower, fridge/freezer, microwave, stove, plenty of power supply to charge phones, computers, etc. We also have a Playstation 2 on board with a few games and a small TV. Feel free to bring anything else you'd like. Make sure to bring a chair for tailgates, we'll also need a grill if anyone has one. Bring your instruments as there will be some epic jam sessions at the tailgates.
I will be buying all food & drinks in bulk for the trip to save money. We will have a grill and stovetop available for the trip and I'll take care of all the cooking. If you have any requests please let me know. Otherwise I'm planning on chicken, hamburgers, turkey burgers, dogs and sandwiches for lunch and dinners. Eggs and bacon/sausage and potatoes in the mornings. Chips/doritos/etc for snacks. Beer/liquor (any requests?), water, soda, juice for liquids.
I've shopped around for the cheapest prices on stuff and calculated gas prices and it looks like the trip will cost about $250 per person. That is all inclusive, all the beer you can drink, all the food you can eat, gas and all other expenses are also included in that figure.
You will be responsible for your own food/drinks if we go to bars or restaurants or whatever. But the only other expenses you will need to worry about are the tickets to the shows and spending money if you're planning on shopping or whatever. If you need help finding tickets let me know.
We have room for a maximum of 8 people for the trip.
Due to the expenses for the trip I'm going to need to make sure I have everyone's money a few days before we leave.
If you have any more questions shoot me an email ryan@onthatnote.net
