Another new year is upon us, and we need a new thread dedicated to the best venue in the country. Very excited to get back up to East Troy and spend the weekend celebrating with 40,000 friends each night.

I would suggest to possibly prep a bit early for accomodations. The rumored dates (as many already know): July 3 and 4.

This weekend will be super packed for the area. Prices could get a bit crazy. So why not plan ahead. Already booked in Delavan.

Looking forward to Summer 2010. I am hoping that the rumored dates are true. It would be so cool to have the Alpine weekend on the 4th of July. Cant wait to be out on the lake in the morning, then in the parking lots when the gates open up. Lets hope for a quick 5 1/2 months.

I'll echo the previous poster....contemplating making the trek to Alpine this year, but that weekend is pretty much the only one that will work for us. Anyone have an idea about how firm this rumor really is?

I have heard from several people. I wouldn't put a non-refundable on it. But I would hold a room, no doubt. I would say odds are pretty solid. Call the Alpine Valley Resort. Ask for rates. I am pretty sure they'll quote event rates.
That said...let me stress: Non-refundable. Dates can always change. But this is a date I have heard more than once.

its been tough to tell lately...or guess i should say....one is usually in in July and the other in August....i must say personally, having been to a few of each bands shows, that DMB would put on a better 4th show i believe...although i dont remember much of the Buffet shows ( drinks(fins) to the left, drinks (fins) to the right.) i do believe Dave and Crew would rock the 4th of july set.

That sucks. Not surprising though, I really don't think there is any kind of substantiated source for the July 3-4 rumor. Someone just threw it out there as some dates that would potentially work and everyone ran with it.

Well that gives me a *little* more hope then. :lol I'm just hoping it's not the 17-18 or 24-25 weekends. Anything other than those and I should be good. Alpine is so hard to pin down too - the dates jump all over the place each year anywhere from the first weekend in July (like '06) to the last weekend in August ('07).

So much for waiting until the dates are announced to make the thread :lol. I'm glad it happened nonetheless.....with or without "official" dates.

Would calling resorts around the area and asking for rates for the weekend of June 25th (week before rumored dates) and the 2nd be of any help? Would they raise the prices any? I guess you could account for a price increase due to it being a holiday, but would they also think about increasing because of alpine weekend? Just a thought....

They'll jack the prices up on you once the dates are announced anyway. We stayed at the Alpine Resort last year and booked before the dates were announced for $110 for Saturday night and $89 for Sunday night. Then they announced the shows and the price more than doubled. Nothing we could really do, the place is in demand that weekend and if we wouldn't pay it, someone else would.

We are debating whether to stay there again - on one hand the convenience factor was awesome, just having to walk up that little path and walk in the venue right next to the pavillion, beer stands and bathrooms was AWESOME, as was not having to wait in the lots for 2-3 hours to get out.

On the negative side, the hotel itself is a fucking DUMP of epic proportions, and the tailgating the hotel lot, while fun, was not as cool of an atmosphere as the regular lots and they don't allow you to grill.

I think people are mainly throwing darts. Once a rumored date is released, a majority of people run with it in hopes that it's true. I haven't heard anyone give a specific source/provide a link. There's probably one out there, I just haven't come across it yet.

They'll jack the prices up on you once the dates are announced anyway. We stayed at the Alpine Resort last year and booked before the dates were announced for $110 for Saturday night and $89 for Sunday night. Then they announced the shows and the price more than doubled. Nothing we could really do, the place is in demand that weekend and if we wouldn't pay it, someone else would.

We are debating whether to stay there again - on one hand the convenience factor was awesome, just having to walk up that little path and walk in the venue right next to the pavillion, beer stands and bathrooms was AWESOME, as was not having to wait in the lots for 2-3 hours to get out.

On the negative side, the hotel itself is a fucking DUMP of epic proportions, and the tailgating the hotel lot, while fun, was not as cool of an atmosphere as the regular lots and they don't allow you to grill.

So are you saying they either made you pay the difference or you'd be refunded and your reservation canceled?

I booked online and they sent a reservation conf in the mail and it says nothing about reservations being nonrefundable (although they do bill the first night to your credit card right away). The paperwork states a 72 hour cancelation requirement, otherwise they charge $25 fee if canceling within 72 hours.

The staff also highlighted the part saying that if your booking falls on a concert weekend rates will automatically go up ;)

I remember hearing that he was doing a series of shows this year there. I went last year in June with a group of friends and had a great time. So much so that it's one of the three possible choices to go this summer

vegas is a blast and going to see garth brooks (I'm assuming trisha yearwood gonna sing a song or two too). gonna kill all my summer money.

For sure. I didn't really live up the full experience last time, so if I go back, I'll have to try alittle harder. We stayed at a friend's condo, so I got away with only spending $150 for the week (mainly on food). I'm still unsure if that's where I'd like to go. Florida, which I've been there before, and California are my other two choices.

Congrats on the impending graduation!! Um not too much has been going on, had a nice long relaxing semester break, and getting ready for classes to start tomorrow. I really wish I could make the 1/2 way to Alpine party :lorraine

thanks! yeahhhh i can't make it either, as my saturday class starts this weekend :BANG really, really sucks! buttt at least we have alpine :)

Yeah we do start kind of late. I came back to campus on Wednesday so I've been here for a bit already. Not using the extra time productively though of course :D

My friend claimed yesterday they saw tour dates up for about a minute and Alpine was the 3rd and 4th. She's a good person so I doubt she'd be lying but I just could not figure out how and why she got to see them up for a minute.
