Aparently according to my dad, who ushers out there, in the past they have tried to sell seats as well as standing and it never works, the pit eventually all turns into standing! Should be interesting to see how this works out...I may keep my standing tickets if everyone plays nice and allows other people to take pee breaks?! ha ha

Check out the "2d" map. Now, I'm assuming that all of sections 1, 2 and 3 (or the 1st 15 rows) are "GA Pit", but there's a curious little black box in the 2d map labeled "convertible seating GA". Would be nice if that were the actual pit area, but that's being waaaaaay optimistic...

I was looking into plane tickets, and it looks like it's gonna cost too much for me with everything included. It looks like I may have to just do all the California shows instead of doing the Gorge to save on $$$, that is if I were able to get ride from you or someone to the SoCal shows.
I may have a place to stay for part or all of the trip. Not sure how your living situation is at the time being. However, my best friend since junior high recently moved to Fremont so I definitely have a place if not.

I personally really like this venue. It is a far drive tho. Chances are all three shows will have very similar setlists since they are single night venues and far enough that the average person isn't going to go to all three. So, take that for what it's worth. I'm sure my comments aren't helping you decide. Bottom line, you should go if you can but don't put too much effort into it.

Hey everyone, advice needed!
I've been to this venue back in 2000, but I can't remember a thing about it.
Does anyone know...
When the gates open to the parking lot (ie, when we can start tailgating?)?
If tailgating is allowed? Encouraged? Permitted?
Thanks in advance for any advice anyone has.

Since I live hear I've never stayed in any of the hotels but there are plenty nice looking hotels in Yuba City which would be better as far as traffic getting to the ampitheater than Rocklin/Roseville area. Yuba City to the ampitheater takes about 10 minutes. That is my suggestion.
What kind of a restaurant are you looking for? Nothing in the immediate area but the Silver Dollar in marysville is a bar/steakhouse that has really good food.
Oh and if anyone wants a pair of pit tickets, I have to sell mine. $150 for the pair. Thanks

I'm not doing pit that day, but I'd recommend calling the venue to see what time the lots open. That will likely dictate what time you need to get there.

I have another question for you all, especially those who live in the area. We are traveling back toward South Lake Tahoe via Reno, either on the 80 or the 20 on Saturday, but would like to stop somewhere along the way and camp for the night, maybe even do some fishing. I used to have no trouble at all coming from Sacramento by coming from the south on Forty Mile Road.
Coming from the north (Yuba City, Chico, etc) I think I'd suggest taking 70 to Plumas Lake exit, then making it over to the amphitheater on Plumas Arboga Rd, but I don't have any experience going that way, so I'm not sure how backed up it gets. My guess is that it'll be lighter than coming on 65 to Forty Mile Road.

Went to the Concord show last night and it was really mellow. No problem getting a camera in if it's in your pocket. I think it's okay to bring food and so are sealed water bottles. We got to Concord late and got to the pit just as they started the opener. No problem finding a great place to watch, so have some fun tailgating in the Parking Lot before you go into the show.
General Rules
All shows will go on RAIN OR SHINE.
NO smoking in the seated and lawn areas, but will be permitted in
the plaza areas and bars.
The following items are NOT allowed into the amphitheatre:
Lawn Furniture, cans, bottles, cameras, alcohol, video equipment,
fireworks, skateboards, frisbees, pets, picnic baskets, aerosol
cans, coolers, stadium seats, tape recorders, cooking equipment.

GREAT ADVICE...I was actually going to suggest this to eveyone. Coming from 65 is going to be hell. But people who are staying in Rocklin it will seem like it's way out of the way but it will probably save time in the long run unless you leave really early.
Also coming from Yuba City on 70 will be better because the traffic is usually less.
I am planning on getting there by 4 at the latest to try and beat the traffic and have a few beers before the show.

I think I'll leave no later than 1:30. If I get to the lot early, no big deal. I'll have plenty of water to drink and I have a reserved seat. Yep, next week will be my first time up there. I'm very excited to see what it's all about.
I think Minarets opens Wrigley N1. I listen to the WPB N1 version all the time, it's so good this year. I knew Jeff and Tim would kill on it.
Gorge is a very unique and awesome experience. You going all 3 nights, camping out? You should. Hopefully they don't repeat too much BW, that'd be ridiculous.
I think Last Stop opens Wrig. N1

I don't think the encores have been that bad, repetitive, but not bad. There's been a few really shitty ones, but overall most of them atleast have good structure.

ehh...I think they've been quite bad compared to most years. Completely predictable, lot of bad song choices.
Some were good, but that is most likely by chance.
The Seek Up, Two Step, Ants Marching encore at Wrigley N2 should be cool though.

Nah, they've kept it in rotation for a long time now. Far longer than I expected at least. I think it's here to stay, especially for the Gorge.
How many Gorgers do we have in here making the trip next week? I leave on Thursday and couldn't be more excited.
I'll be there. 4th year in a row. Leaving wednesday morning and super pumped. If you're camping at wildhorse, i hope to see you around and have a beer.:thumbsup
woot woot.. i leave thursday for the gorgewa. can't wait to land at wild horse then crest the hill at the gorge

Oh yeah, going all 3 nights. I think the shows will be pretty great this year. They have enough songs in steady rotation to play 3 great nights. I think the first 2 nights will look a lot like WPB (substitute Warren for Ben Harper though) and then the 3rd night will have a couple repeats and maybe some songs we haven't seen yet. It'll be interesting for sure, but I'll really just be happy to be there.
Please let this be correct.
Will either be that or YMDT i bet :lol

Yeah I'll definitely go to Charleston and I put in a request for AC. I have a flight and hotel booked for Halloween so I'm going whether or not I get tickets for the show :lol. I'm praying the lottery helps me out and delivers. Have you seen pictures of Boardwalk Hall? It looks amazing. CK5 is going to light it up.
I'm happy they're playing Charleston though, it's only 3-4 hours away from where I go to school so it'll be a nice weekend trip. Plus Charleston in the fall is going to be awesome.

I'm not staying at Wildhorse, I was fortunately adopted by a few Ants who are renting a condo. My group bailed on me and I almost wasn't going to go, but luckily they had room for me :). I'm sure we'll be around Wildhorse though so I'll look for the mojito people :lol
