doesn't 283 travel north and south from Lancaster to 81?
you need to get off onto 322
im sure there are other ways to get there,
but im not sure about taking 283 to the backside of herhsey
Nope....283 literally 50 feet from the Turnpike exit towards the airport. Then through Hummelstown.
Or keep going and get off at 743 and that brings you to the backside of Hershey.
Ive been taking this route to hershey from the Turnpike from the West for 10+ years. And the locals that actually live in Hershey will chime in and advise of those routes as well.
Getting off on 322 defeats the entire purpose

The route coming into the backside I learned from this thread a few years ago from the local yocals....hehe.
With 322 you get stuck at a bunch of lights and on a concert day during the summer it can take you 2 hours to get through that area to the parking lot. Its crazy. Thats why getting to the park by 2 or 3 is key.

here's a tip to avoid traffic. i did it last year, and i was an hour on the road before my friends got out of the lot.
park in town. i parked on the street right across from houlihan's. it was maybe a mile walk to the venue, but the parking was free and i got on the highway in absolutely no time. and i didn't even have to leave before the show was over.

i wasn't in the lot. i parked on the street where houlihan's is, right in town. i believe it is chocolate ave/route 422. when i came back to my car after the show, other cars were still parked there, so i think it's pretty safe.

The best place to park is a little side road off 39 that puts you on the grass in front of Milton Hershey. You cant get out REAL quick and there's tons of room to party.

Maybe you guys can answer a few questions for me.
I got two tickets Front GA P1. Is this going to be the "mad rush to the front of the stage section"?
Ive been to Hershey for DMB and Bruce Springsteen. With DMB parking was a nightmare, it took me about a hour to park once i got into the parking area. Springsteen i showed up around 7pm and parked in the concrete lots to the left of the stage(left if you are looking at the stage)
I won't get there till about 6pm due to work, realistically what do you think parking will be like and when will they open the gates? I dont mind being back around the 30 or 40 yard line of the football field.

To your first question: Yes.

i would assume there will be a mad rush to the front of the stage and then when DMB comes on stage there will most likely be another surge to the front
i always park near the end of the lots (near the giant center) of course i walk about a mile to the stadium, i never really have to much trouble leaving after the show ends
i have parked around mid lots before and literally have been sitting in my car not moving for 2 hours

$10. Although knowing Hershey, I wouldn't be surprised if parking ends up being $12-15 this summer, soda will be $8, and tickets for the park will be somewhere between $80 and the price of a new Cadillac. (probably closer to the latter)

I remember when Hershey had a GA show in the late '90s. It was 80 to 90 degrees and humidity was terrible! I remember steam rising from the crowd as event security sprayed the crowd down with hoses (or else they were going to have some serious health issues). Unfortunately, everyone pushed for the majority of the show, so the only way to get out of the mess was crowd surfing. GF and I surfed out and watched the rest of the show from 75 feet back.
Best of luck to all of you in GA!

what day is Phish??
i've never gotten into them, but everyone says their shows are great. for $50 i'd be interested in seeing them if the schedule fits. i would really like to do the CMAC show on june 29th, but i'm going to camden the next day, so i dont know how that would work out.
phish show is june 13th which is a sunday

Is anyone going who DOESNT plan on waiting in line for the front? I plan on getting a fairly large (not wildly massive) tailgate together like we did last year, turned out pretty awesome, then head in. Anyone game?

New here...thought I'd just pop my head in and say hi :)
I'll be going to the Hershey Park show and will be camping out at the Highmeadow campground for the weekend. They have a free shuttle that takes you to the park. Just curious if any of you guys will be staying there as well...

Me. Im not cutting a tailgate with 20 people short to wait in line for three hours. Fuck that.

Im not cutting tailgate out for a few hours either just to be 50 feet closer to the stage. not that big of a deal to me. Id rather have at least a little space around me instead of being crammed in the middle of a crowd

Front Field GA means we won't have to deal with the damn tower in the middle of the field. So maybe I won't be cutting the tailgate too short.

Might have to start with beer first, and then turn to liquor as the day goes by so I don't have to pee every 20 minutes....then again maybe liquor isn't a great idea, I don't wanna pass out in any porta potties :lol

How long do shows usually run till at Hershey? This will be my 1st time there. I know at the East Center (or Tweeter or whatever it is now) in Camden it's like 10:00 no later, total bummer :shrug Do they have a set time music can't go past?

Hershey '08 went till damn near midnight. It was about 3 1/2 hours. Unbelievable. Last year ended earlier...closer to 11, maybe 11:15. I think there's a curfew at 11, but I'm pretty sure the band says "fuck this" most years and goes as long as they damn well please. I'm not complaining!

he probably meant 3 1/2 hours clock time. that 2 hours and 41 minutes is the amount of time music was actually being played. that doesn't add in the time between songs and the encore break. add an extra 25+ minutes and ya, its closing in on 3.5 hours.

I have an extra pair in section 6, row S, right next to the aisle closest to the stage if anyone is looking for good seats. Face/fees is $145, but if you are serious and have a reasonable offer, I will consider it!
Unfortunately, no Hershey for me this summer. I am doing a 1-2 punch at camden instead. Take care hershey folks!

I am also in section 6 row DD which is the 4th row. Considering hershey's views section 6 is not terrible. Last year i sat on the floor about 20 rows away and had a blast but this year will be GA. Personally I would choose section 6 so you can ignore the shenanigans of the drunk high schoolers.

"A Good Place to Live" isn't too bad. I go to the University of Maryland, and the College Park town motto is "A Livable Community". Frankly though, that would be an improvement.

Hershey has seen some of the longest DMB shows of all time. It is regularly one of the longest of the tour (6th longest last year, 5th longest in 08 & 00, 2nd longest in 04, longest in 03). Don't be worried about a short show in Hershey, and I wouldn't be too concerned about a bad setlist this year. It's the next show after Alpine, with a 5 day break in between shows.

scranton and bethel should be pretty good too. last time scranton came this close after alpine was 2006 and we got Last Stop, Digging A Ditch, Grace Is Gone, and Lover Lay Down. hell of a show except for the awful encore. july should be a fun time.
