Hey, I've already posted this in the ticketexchange forum, but does anybody have an extra front GA that they are looking to get rid of?

You can tell Dave is coming to Hershey. Just checked AccuWeathers forecast for the 9th and they're calling for rain. Sounds about right, but hopefully it changes by then. :BANG On a side note, where is the tailgate? I'm staying at Hershey Campground, anyone else?
lol...more than two weeks out...its summer time man. Chance of rain/thunderstorms practically every day of the summer around here

wow! that's dumb...rethinking going now :lol i dont wanna be in the middle of 6-8k people
Total seating capacity for concerts is 30k.
Seating capacity for football/soccer setup is 16k. That leaves 14k on the floor
6 sections arent even used for the DMB shows, so theyre probably getting 10k in the grandstands.
That being said, If I remember correctly they only sold less than 20k tickets last year....its not as bad as ya think on the floor
pathetic

for the folks driving in from out of town, I would try to be in the Hershey area by around 3-3:30. After that, especially after 4, the Harrisburg/Hershey area gets pretty blocked up with traffic.

I too will be in the front GA, and if anyone crammed in near me even thinks to "blaze up", I will politely ask them not to, and if they continue to do so, I will hit it out of there hands and stomp on it:thumbsup Some of us want to remember the show...sorry that's a crime (and yes it is a crime to smoke weed so dnt make a smartass comment about how its perfectly fine).
.....No, the people who want to remember the show are the ones who do not smoke...Thts why they dont do it, in no way was tht comment supposed to come off as a "second-hand" kinda comment. It's illegal and a burden to those who want to not be bothered by douchebags that think theyre cool. Dont try to say there is no argument here, because easily there is:lol
Gotta admit, that was kinda funny:lol but seriously, if you can't be curteous to the people around you and their wishes, then you'll face the consequences...lots and lots of cops around:rolleyes
No, this is not what I am saying at all, I am not worried about "contact high", its gonna bother me either way, get over it.:lol
Sweet dude, grow up:thumbsup Can't wait to smack the blunt right outta ur hands :lol
Haha, because you know me right??:lol You always have somethng clever to say when it comes to me and a situation not concerning you. I'm glad you find it necessary to do that.:thumbsup
This is different, this will be a jampacked clusterfuck of people, breathing down your neck, if your doing something illegal and pissing people off around you, something will be done. The tanked guy is perfectly fine, because hes not breaking a law. Sweet buddy:thumbsup

So since there seem to be a lot of Ants camping at the Hershey Campground, I am thinking we all should have a big gathering at the campground. We are coming up Thursday afternoon and staying until Saturday. I would be up for partying Thursday night and Friday after the show if we can get something organized. Maybe we should figure out where we all are (which lot #) and take a look at the campground map and find a central spot. We have a camper so I would be up for people coming over to us.
Mike - Lot #4 (pretty central spot)
Let's do this!
I have a ton of beer and hard stuff, and maybe we can slap the bag of Twisted Tea as well! :freak

That Aroogas has the worst weekend crowd ever. The one on 39 is much better.
Although I once saw a guy so wasted there when it was Kokomos that he was sitting on one of the stools where the pool tables are, stood up, instantly blacked out, fell, and smashed his skull on the oak bar runner that encircled the entire area. It was one of the funniest things Ive ever seen.

I mean, I'm not saying I wish it was a smokefest at shows. In fact, I think I've smoked at maybe 2 of the 27 shows I've gone to.
But let's be realistic. The problem at dmb shows is unarguably the drinking, not the smoking. That's not even debatable
And to argue that people shouldn't smoke pot because its technically 'illegal' is just ridiculous - a large amount of the drinking (especially the heavy drinking) is done by underagers

this is true. i love the people stumbling around, starting fights, pissing in the pit, screaming while dave's talking(public intoxication???) and then telling me it's illegal to smoke pot :lol
ive been to 36 shows and prob smoked at almost every one of them and the ones that i cant remember are the ones that i got really drunk at.
if the smoke bothers someone, that's totally different, i'll find a different spot or just squat down...

I truly believe we are going to get a show of the same caliber as the one in '04. Alpine will be over, and they have that one night stand in between in NY where they can get rid of some of the normal rotation songs and some of the BW ones. Here's to hoping that happens.

I will gladly take anyone of OSW, SG, or DIDO at Hershey. I'm just hoping for a good run of songs to go with the 5 or 6 BW's we'll get.
Also, when anyone gets set details on the WH GA tickets and when/where we get in early, posting it would be sweet. Have heard about 10 different things in the last two weeks.

Well well well...it just wouldn't be Hershey if it didn't rain! The forecast now is calling for scattered thunderstorms and a high of 89. WTF is it with Hershey and rain?! Although, the last two years it rained during the tailgate and the weather was great during the show...it cooled it off and it felt great outside.
On a more pleasant note...I just got back from vacation and and waaaaaay too far back in the thread now to catch up. Any word yet on a big tailgate?

Typically (I don't know if this is changed for the DMB show this year or all concerts at Hershey), the front half of the field is actual seats, and the back half (behind the SBD) is/was GA. This year it is just 2 GA's, front and rear.

My only reservation about going is if they view it as a no-name venue and play the show accordingly, which has definitely happened in the past. If it wasn't for the Pit and front GA's this year, I never would be able to get so close without WH membership or hundreds of dollars to spend at Ebay/Stubhub.
However, I do like having seats to come back to after a mid-set pee break. Will be tough at Hershey for people who wait in line and go in early, but due to a small bladder have to end up in the back of the section.

Last year's setlist might have been the worst of the tour. 2005 was the worst in DMB history. The first half of 2008 was atrocious. If anything, Hershey tends to get below-average setlists, 2003 and 2004 excepted.

I for one am pretty pissed about GA in the front. I am a first yr member of the WH and have always gotten 3rd row center stage. They say WH members will allowed in a half hour early, to what stand in front of the stage, not be able to move because I will loose my spot. The opening band starts at 7 and DMB comes on around 9 til 11, so I will have to stand in one spot from 5:30 til 11. I don't know if it was hershey's idea not to put up seats or DMB's idea but it sucks for those of us who have paid our WH fees all these years for tickets I could have gotten through ticketmaster. I guess after this show I won't be a WH member, there are no benifits to me anymore since Hershey is usually the only show I go to. I'm thinking I will look around the grandstand for decent seats and see if someone will want to trade once I get there, or else just hang in the back of the crowd and try to enjoy the music.

Its not that packed until DMB gets on stage. Before that youre fine to go to the bathroom/ get drinks etc.
Everyone thinks GA is a bad idea. But once youre actually there so close to the band its really awesome. And Dave really seems to dig it :thumbsup

Thinking about making a sign that says

Leroi
but maybe that's too much to comprehend. I thought it would be an interesting one.
EDIT: even if it got a tease of dave playing the riff a few times, i would die a happy man.
Careful with signs.
At Huntington (only other GA show so far) they didnt let signs in, making people throw them away before they entered. Some people had them, but they were smaller and could fit into your pocket folded up.
Thats what I'm doing to be safe.
Taking in my GGT sign :D

Last year's setlist might have been the worst of the tour. 2005 was the worst in DMB history. The first half of 2008 was atrocious. If anything, Hershey tends to get below-average setlists, 2003 and 2004 excepted.
Also, I opted for emailed tickets and I still havent received them. That normal?

depending on where you park in the lot, it can take a while to get back onto the road. last year we got right up by the stadium and were on the road in about 15 minutes. once you're on the road it usually runs pretty smoothly.

I've found that if you can get a spot anywhere in the area I've outlined in red (which you can get to if you just keep heading toward the stadium through the lot, regardless of where the idiots try to direct you), you can take the yellow path -- behind the stage and to the left -- and get out pretty quick (i.e. less than 15 minutes). Did it for Phish and it worked like a charm.
That being said, you still have to book it to the car. :lol

First time to Hershey. A few questions about camping at the Hershey campground.
1) all we could get was overflow...how is it? Is it as nuts as Lee's in SPAC?
2) how early should I get there and claim a spot?
3) is there a best place to park at the venue that allows the best shot out?
4) how hard is to get back to the campground after the show? Any advice?
Gonna be a scorcher....hopefully both the weather and the show!

First one had a Dancing Nancies and a STJL. Second one had LIOG, Grey Street, and Baby Blue. Last one featured Gregg Allman on Melissa, BB, Nancies, Grey Street, and Rapunzel.
There wasnt one interesting/rare/unique song in the entire setlist. #41 and Seek Up were the only things I could call a highlight. We got Everyday, Bayou, Spacebread, a shitty encore (You and Me, Watchtower), and eight total BW songs. It got 3.5 stars in Tour Central. It wasn't very good, man, I dunno. Other than 2005, last year was the only time Id been disappointed with a DMB show.

This third year member got row 46 last year.
Maybe I wrote that wrong, I meant I've been a member of the WH since the first year, actually the first few days, so yes I've pretty much had the same seats at hershey every year. Always 3rd row, center stage, right in front of Dave, so you can understand why I'm so upset about them having GA at this show. My tickets are a little confusing tho, they say GAF1, Row 001, Seats 31 and 32....If it's really GA why would they say row 1 and have seats assigned? Guess I will find out when I get there. Enjoy the show!
